After reading what others wrote about this restaurant, I think the shop was somehow treated unfairly in a way. I hate the practice of cheating and I have zero tolerance towards it, but I don't think Joy Hing was cheating indeed. I talked to many friends who are also fans of Joy Hing and they all agreed that counting in the weight of bones in the price of roasted pork was a normal practice. It's like when you buy a pack of durian, are you going to ask the fruit shop owner to peel the durian and count the weight of durian without skin? Of course you can, you can even file an official complaint to the Customs and Excise Department that you felt being cheated, then the fruit shop will raise the price of durian in the future, you turn out to pay the same without losing and gaining someone, while accusing someone of dishonesty. I know the people in Joy Hing as a customer well enough, most of them spent their whole life making good barbecue pork and roasted duck only, they probably know nothing about the world outside, that's why they fell into the traps of the CED.There was also another story running the other day, that Joy Hing cheated about the weight of barbecue pork (char siu) also, but read careful how the journalist ran the story, they bought one unit ("jin") of pork, weighed it as one "jin", and asked the chef to cut it up into smaller pieces. When the chef chopped the pork, they had to throw away some fatty tissues and the overcooked charcoal part, it wouldn't surprise me if these unnecessary parts weighed around one or two subunits ("liang"). Everybody deserves a second chance, especially when I know they weren't wrong or dishonest, they were only a bit distracted from the world outside, and they were definitely unfairly treated in this incident.

What are the problems of comparing roasted pork with durian? You turn out paying money for something that you don't need, you pay money for the pork bones that you are not going to eat.You pay money for the durian skins, the fruit shop will definitely throw away those heavy skin if you want them to open the durian for you. Or are you going to take the durian skin back for fun? I think the restaurant told people about the price including bones *before* the incident, this is an old and outdated practice. After the incident, they changed the price (the updated price is for the meat only, they don't count in the weight of the bones anymore), they have also put a public weigh outside to give people confidence. So I think Joy Hing does know this is not the Qing Dynasty, they know they should update themselves, what you have suggested were pretty much what the shop did since the incident. You're pointing your fingers to someone who has improved themselves, I think this is not fair.Yee Wan, from what you wrote, I guess you are really young and I guess you have never bought those pork ribs by yourself, haven't you? You sound like you feel being betrayed, I suggest you to ask some older people what they think about the incident, they will tell you exactly the same as I told you.Instead of trying to be very morally criticizing the others, I prefer to give them a second chance, and to be frankly, I always know this practice (counting in the weight of bones), I always know this is a norm in Hong Kong, but I welcome a change in the business model.
