每年生日,朋友亦會送來半島精品店的生日蛋糕,雖說今年也不例外,但朋友的窩心,自己總是期待的。解開深墨綠的絲帶,掀起蛋糕盒,雪白的鮮忌廉蛋糕,放滿色彩繽紛的鮮果,就是最愛這樣經典的賣相。滿滿的鮮果,有紅莓、藍莓、士多啤梨及提子,水潤香甜,內裡的海綿蛋糕,濃厚蛋香,質感綿密,口感鬆軟,中間夾著大量鮮果,果香豐富,融合著鮮忌廉的細膩口感,香甜不溜,味道極美,點上淡金色的生日爉燭,伴隨著柔柔火光,許下甜蜜的願望。 continue reading

Call me old-fashioned but I always prefer to get my pastries over-the-counter so this is probably one of the few times that I'm doing this online. It was pretty convenient though. After placing my order a couple of days ago, here I am at Peninsula Boutique picking up some of my favorite pastries.Sakura ($60) - I had this last time I was here too. This was an inspiration from the Japanese cherry blossom. A light and airy mousse cake which came with a mix of cherry blossom mousse, juicy cherry confit, pistachio dacquoise and tart sable. I thought the cherry flavors (from the mousse and confit) would be pretty overpowering but that's not the case at all. In fact, it was the exact opposite. The cherry blossom was light and subtle working well with the pistachio dacquoise and tart sable. Pretty nice (Grade: 4/5).Of course, I didn't go thru all the trouble for just a piece of cake so here comes the rest of my sweet treat.Pandan ($60) - I saw this on a number of occasions but didn't quite pull the trigger coz I'm not a real fan of pandan. However, the combination of pandan and mango does look fairly intriguing.This actually tasted a little better than I thought, with the acidity from the mango compote complementing the aromatic flavors of pandan very nicely. Definitely won't mind having it again (Grade: 4/5).Le Peninsula ($60) - The cake shop's signature pastry in its pageboy hat shape again didn't disappoint.There's a very pleasant mix of contrasting flavors and textures coming from the yoghurt mousse, madeleine and pink grapefruit compote, all of which harmonized each other perfectly. Love the fact that they infused the pink grapefruit with jasmine tea to give a bit more fragrance. Without a question, the best of the three (Grade: 4.5/5). continue reading

話說奶黃月餅的起源源自半島酒店中菜部的師傅,他以曲奇皮🍪取代了傳統的月餅皮,然後加入奶黃餡,但曲奇皮無法承受奶黃的重量,於是製造迷你月餅,所以為什麼奶黃月餅都是細細個。說起半島月餅,大家都知道有2間,一間是嘉麟樓,一間是半島。兩間我都吃過,分別不大,最大分別就是價錢和名氣。兩者的食譜是一樣的,但是嘉麟樓的月餅是全人手製造,沒有獨立包裝,分享月餅就很不方便。半島的月餅有獨立包裝,但保質期很短,它的月餅有機器製造,但我上次吃嘉麟樓月餅,奶黃餡有顆粒,不夠滑溜,所以很考驗糕點師傅的功力。今年決定買半島月餅,一口氣買了2盒,這幾年半島月餅價錢升幅很大,現在已經348元一盒了半島月餅價錢較一般月餅貴,但我覺得一年一次,加上看到親朋友好友收到月餅時的喜悅,我覺得值得。他的包裝很有格調,市場上是獨一無二的。放棄了鐵盒的包裝,以六角形紙盒取代,更為大方得體。盒上印有荷花和荷葉,高雅脫俗,有禪味。一打開有兩層,一層放4個迷你月餅。包裝簡潔大方。每個月餅上都印有「半島」二字,外觀呈淺黃色,一打開已經傳出陣陣奶黃香氣。一般吃奶黃月餅,我會先放入微波爐叮10秒,在微熱的狀態下品嚐月餅。剛剛叮完,整個客廳都很香,有濃濃的牛油奶香香味,我吃過很多牌子的奶黃月餅,要數最香,一定是半島月餅。月餅是機器製造,所以每個都是一樣的。月餅製造很紮實,切開也不會散開。外皮香而柔軟,奶黃餡很香很滑,有些製造較粗糙的奶黃月餅,會吃到奶黃的顆粒,影響了月餅的口感。但這款月餅完全沒有這個問題,反而像在吃奶油,口感很佳甜度適中,不會很甜,覺得他不像月餅,反而像平時吃的中式糕點,很適合一些不喜歡吃月餅的人,對奶黃月餅的接受程度應該很高 continue reading

奶皇月餅的全盛期已過,我仍然情不變。有些人仍鍾情嘉麟樓的出品,我覺得時移世易,即使是同系的九龍酒店,分別亦不大。包裝平平無奇,一盒有8個。為了評論質素,拿了利苑的奶皇月餅做評比。上方的是利苑的奶皇月餅,下方是此店出品。左方的利苑奶皇月餅顏色偏淡,皮很厚,右方是此店出品,金黃色,十分鮮豔,充滿了咸蛋黃。左方的甜度低,此店的既有咸香,亦較有甜味。因此,此店出品皮薄,奶甜,有咸香。 continue reading

是日sis買來半島的西餅, yeah!筆者選擇了Mango Pudding (HK$50). 先說分量, 布甸的size較其他店的大, 感覺挺划算. 至於外表, 也很吸引呢, 不同大小的cream balls 作點綴, 有誠意的. 試一口, 布甸入口很彈, 芒果味夠香甜, 再加上粒粒果肉, 還有一些脆曲奇增加口感層次, 真是色香味俱全. continue reading
