There are cha chan tengs all over the place but then there is Shiu Kee Coffee (瑞記咖啡). As old school as you can get, this small cha chan teng is located inside the Sheung Wan cooked food center on top of a wet market. It's located on the left when you get off the escalators. Be sure to sit in the tables near the restaurant as the other ones are other restaurants.Menu is in English and Chinese. They offer various toasted sandwiches and noodles. And yes, the typical drinks.But most people order the drink they are most famous for. Ice cold Hong Kong style milk tea in a bottle. Why? The milk tea has no ice in it and it's made the  day before. Bottled in bottles and stored in the fridge. Served to you icy cold as is.The milk tea is $13 each. It was pretty good. A nice smooth texture. The taste of the tea leaves was strong and fragrant. And yes, it was pretty cold.We also shared a luncheon pork and egg sandwich ($14). It was warm. The bread was soft. The egg was not overcooked and the luncheon pork was mixed into the egg so it wasn't overly salty.Very cheap eats indeed. The milk tea is definitely one of the best in Hong Kong. 男友實在太熱氣, 弄得舌頭都腫了, 所以今日要專誠去公利吃龜苓膏, Lunch吃點Light的. 巴士在大舞台對面的港澳碼頭下車, 令我想起人氣高企的瑞記. 沿扶手電梯上到上環街市, 再轉另一條電梯便是一個冷氣開放的大型Food Court, 擠滿了枱櫈但很多都未有人坐, 直到在角落處擠得水泄不通的瑞記, 果然是全個Food Court最旺的小店. 等了大概十多分鐘才坐下. 蛋牛包 ($14) 長身芝麻熱狗包底面也烘得微脆, 內裡是碎牛炒蛋, 炒蛋餡好像不太配合到熱狗包的長度, 勝在新鮮製作. 西多士 ($23) 索滿蛋汁的白麵包煎得恰到好處, 外層充滿蛋香, 咬下去是脆脆的口感, 兩層一起吃, 一口嘗到外脆內Moist的美味, 堆介. 鮮牛麵 ($28) 牛肉咬落腍腍的, 淥麵時間掌握得剛好, 公仔麵很爽口. 奶茶 ($13) 為了一嚐傳說中樽仔奶茶而破戒叫凍飲. 果真不錯喝, 茶味較突出但沒蓋過奶味, 甜度還可以, 始終凍飲和一早預備好的奶茶沒辦法走甜, 但這個奶茶不是"死甜", 很香濃! 其實真的坐得不舒服, 背貼背之餘身邊必有等枱的食客, 在這商業味濃的上環竟可在寶貴的lunch hour找到一點家的感覺, 難怪這裡人氣一直保持高企了 continue reading

瑞記位於上環熟食中心內,聞說早年有雜誌介紹過 所以小店都有名了(?) 週六早上人不多 所以沒有說要等很久或漏單的情況。餐蛋鮮牛麵 $28由於怕單吃包會不夠飽,所以大家都點了粉麵,公仔麵還能有什麼特別,就是個麵,不過友人點的米粉份量好多,牛肉不會過韌,亦沒有被鬆肉粉腌壞的感覺。蛋牛包 $14當麵包店一個腸仔都賣$8之際,這個價位的蛋牛包沒有挑剔之處。麵包烘過,微暖、外脆內軟,包挺大,但裡面的蛋牛有點少。相對之下,華嫂的咸牛蛋包認真出色!西多士 $23有別一般茶餐廳的西多做法,要形容的話,就是呀媽都會這樣煮的。先用蛋漿沾滿麵包,再輕煎至微脆,保持麵包軟熟,最後加上煉奶而非糖漿。個人喜歡這種媽媽煮法,唯這件西多蛋漿有點少,貴得來不太值得。 沒有特別之處,出色而用煉奶的西多要數漢發!玻璃樽奶茶 $13凍檸茶 $13玻璃樽奶茶第一次見,賣點是懷舊的味道,連樽冷藏,一定夠凍,可惜有點過甜,茶味不足。凍檸茶基本上是fail,缺少茶味,甜度拿捏不好。食物沒有驚為天人,並非非試不可。 continue reading

約左朋友晚飯,預早太多時間到達,那就不如找個地方坐坐,順便休息一下,忽然想起這裡。上環的熟食中心,環境清潔真是幾好,有冷氣又夠光猛,中心內還有很多食店可供選擇。門前還有之前介紹的雜誌報導。到達這裡已接近收工時間,老闆娘說只有飲料和麵包;因還要留肚晚飯,食件西多士及茶走就剛剛好子。😋西多士($23)~ 用煎的方式製造,麵包內沒有餡料,面層加上大量的煉奶,但可能因趕時間收工,煎得未夠時間,唔夠爽脆及香口,尤幸味道幾好;下次如早一點來,煎夠時間,應該會更出色。茶走($13)~ 茶味香濃,煉奶落的分量偏少,因茶的比例偏多而帶有一點嚡口的感覺。因時間還早,問準老闆可繼續坐至夠鐘。順便可清清未寫的食評,感激。 continue reading

在上環返工,想食50蚊以下的午餐真的不容易,上環熟食中心是其中一個選擇。第一次上去,係openrice做過資料搜集後,決定嚟呢度食個午餐。上到去,行咗一個圈都搵唔到,原來佢係係其中一個角落附近。以下係我當日的午餐:第一個想食的蛋牛包,因為蛋包蛋治係呢度最出名,夠份量,不過個包嚟度,我搵唔到"牛",原來係咸牛肉,炒碎晒係蛋入面。第二個叫的係鮮油多,餐牌係無呢個菜,係貼係牆到見到,好耐無食過,難得係呢茶餐廳見,所以點了呢個,味道唔錯。第三個係奶茶,我本來唔諗住叫嘢飲,我見隔離枱的奶茶又好、咖啡又好、甚至係鴛鴦都好,係用樽載,咁特別,即刻叫嚟試下,夠凍,味道好濃。 continue reading
