上一次去森美吃飯,應該是30多年前在附近讀中學的時候。那時的森美有套餐,或者單點,可以說是西區比較高級的扒房。在我的印象中,上面第五街有莎莉娜,下面大馬路便有森美了(註:老一輩的街坊稱般咸道為第五街,皇后大道西為大馬路,德輔道西為電車路)。食物方面,有看過OpenRice的評語,好像是比以前差了很多。因此,不抱着太大的期望,用餐的目的就是去懷舊一下,今晚我點了一份12安士的西冷牛扒, medium cook. 老實說,正常水準,肉質還算嫰滑,黑椒汁也調校得宜。他的用料及收費是成正比的,我總不能夠用不夠$200的價錢,吃到有prime質素的牛扒吧!現在我們吃不同質素的牛扒機會多了,難免有所要求。這塊西冷牛扒,我覺得跟30年前吃的沒太大分別,也是賣相不錯,大大塊,雖然沒有齒頰留香的肉味,但也不至於梳打粉那喉。以前這樣質素的牛扒,已經算是做得很好了。印象中可以媲美以前灣仔的紅屋餐廳。(現在的森美是走街坊路線的西餐廳(以前我會稱他為扒房,但是這次進去,我發覺多了乾炒牛河、楊州炒飯、咖喱牛腩等),我已經不可能稱他為一間扒房,其實西餐廳都有些汶水了。)另一方面,有說森美的服務又麻麻地。以今次用餐的

另一方面,有說森美的服務又麻麻地。以今次用餐的經驗,我倒也察覺不到。相反地,我覺得那些侍應無論是年青的或是比較年長的,都表現得比較親切及有禮。我走的時候,也沒有特別俾小費,但他們都很客氣地跟我說再見,感覺也是真誠的。所以服務這一欄,我覺得絕對可以接受。

如果說到不足之處,可能就是那個羅宋湯。羅宋湯總是帶點濃,帶點酸會比較好吃。但是,這次的羅宋湯我覺得就比較淡,還未入味。這點可以留意一下。

一講森美,大家都會諗起一塊掛店外嘅牛型大招牌,紅色格仔枱布方型枱,不過時日變遷,大招牌被迫拆除、昔日扒房情調消失、高水準牛扒不在,要留戀的好像都沒有了⋯⋯午餐-特式什扒 $70先嚟一碗羅宋湯,無什菜味無茄味,一味死鹹死辣,顏色又唔討好,難飲羅宋湯排行榜佔一席位!然後嚟個什扒,牛扒無問幾成熟,食落似8成尚算唔韌,但牛味欠奉,而雞扒Ok,唔會乾同鞋,煙肉雖然大塊,但無乜煙肉味,最差可算係薯角,叮到又乾又硬,單睇相都睇得出!一人共消費:$70

先嚟一碗羅宋湯,無什菜味無茄味,一味死鹹死辣,顏色又唔討好,難飲羅宋湯排行榜佔一席位!然後嚟個什扒,牛扒無問幾成熟,食落似8成尚算唔韌,但牛味欠奉,而雞扒Ok,唔會乾同鞋,煙肉雖然大塊,但無乜煙肉味,最差可算係薯角,叮到又乾又硬,單睇相都睇得出!
