unfortunately, service is far away from upto standard
- we ordered two omelett and it never comes after half an hour so we checked out with one of the waiters. end up they said they have already delivered but 'we' rejected so they threw everything on garbage! I am like huh??? we never get anything and no one at all following up our main courses at all

- not withstanding all the mistakes made, at the time of paying bills, the waiter still 'emphasize' that there is a tips section on the credit bill for waiter. 😵

just improve the service will make the whole package much much better.

昨晚吃飯, 先進室內用餐, 食物飲品服務都不錯. 飯後轉了出去室外座位, 喝酒聊天, 環境都不錯. 結帳時, 問題出現了! 因為想省時, 我把信用卡交給侍應. 單來了, 我隨便看一看, 發現他們多收了一杯啤酒錢. 我即時提出, 侍應拿著單轉身而去. 轉身時, 他把我的信用卡個單都弄跌了在地上, 並沒有即時拾起, 便走了去改單. 直到他回來時, 他從地上拾起我的卡, 再拿去轆. 全程一句多謝一句唔好意思都冇, 仲要好粗暴的把我的信用卡暴屍地上最少五分鐘. 難以想像在中環一家這種級數的餐廳會有這種服務. 我大慨不會再去了!

The buffet lunch is very nice with a good spread of Italian dishes both meat, fish and vegetarian so plenty of options for all diners. Sadly the main courses were not up to scratch for expensive restaurant, the chicken was over cooked and dry. The fish was OK however the vegetables with it were bitter.

The desert buffet was nice with nice selection of typical dishes including Tiramisu.

Lunch was followed with a cappuccino which was at first bitter but was smoother as it was drunk, however in these days gourmet coffees the barista could have either put a pattern or made a tidier top the coffee, it gave one the impression it had bee rushed.

Overall a great buffet with great deserts, but skip the main course which was underwhelming to say the least given the price!

Imagine my excitement when I found out it was on the list of establishments for Super Monday!We visited the establishment twice. We visited the establishment twice. I had the Tonnarelli Al Granchio (spicy crab) pasta the first time, and the wild boar pasta the second time. The texture of the pasta somehow felt a bit like Chinese noodles to me. I somewhat prefer more egg in my pasta. Out of the two dishes, I definitely prefer the former. The wild boar pasta was a bit too acidic for my liking.

My partner had the Linguine All'Astice (lobster) both times. But I did not like the dish. The sauce was too fishy for me, it reminded me of one of those steamed fish dishes you can get a Chinese banquet restaurant.

Taste preferences aside, even if I picked my favorite dish of all I had sampled at Lupa, I would say that there’s really nothing special about this restaurant, apart from a big name backing it up. There are lots of Italian restaurants that serve better pasta, such as Cecconi or my all-time favourite, Pirata, just to name a few.

Considering we were there for Super Monday, and the entrees were one-for-one, I'll say the portions were passable. But I'll definitely have something to complain about if I had to pay full-price (238HKD++) for four tiny pieces of lobster or a mere sprinkling of crab meat.

Last but not least, I found service at Lupa to be subpar at best. Everyone from the hostesses to the servers to the manager, seemed cold and unfriendly. If I’m being brutally honest, the service was reminiscent of a local Hong Kong cafe… You know what I mean, everyone is here to just do their job, take your order, serve you your meal. Making you feel welcome is not part of their job description. Only difference is that the staff here are just dressed fancier.

Overall, after giving Lupa two chances, I’d much rather spend my time and money elsewhe

你個牛扒非常之正煮得啱啱好。真正做到半生熟而且出面燒得好有炭烤味。伴碟有Parmesan 芝士Rocket菜,意大利醋. 呢個意大利醋更能帶出肉嘅香味。做得非常好。淨係識呢個都值回票價。
原價$320有Super Monday買一送一抵到爛。
就算正價我都會專登去食返呢一個牛扒。

Lamb Chop (medium) $318 

佢都算好大塊,而且佢有四件嘅。佢嘅觀點做得唔錯,有蛋漿做嘅醬料有炸過嘅薯蓉同埋artichoke .佢有美味嘅蘇媚但係唔會過多,通常食羊扒側邊會有一好長的肥羔,但佢就切走咗。鍾意食嘅朋友可能會覺得失望,但係好似我呢啲要睇住食的又覺得非常之好,起碼成舊肉可以食晒唔使切走其他部份。

Lobster Linguini 

呢個龍蝦扁意粉真係極度失望,佢嘅龍蝦細隻度我唔知個係唔係上錯菜。我明白佢將一隻龍蝦切細佢擺入去黎做,但係佢真係切得好細粒下囉而且嗰碟意粉完全冇海鮮嘅鮮味,龍蝦本身啲肉都好梅下,一啲都唔新鮮。然後裏面仲要有殼,升跌嘅質素仲差過去Pizza Hut食。

Side Dishes $78 e.a 

叫咗兩個side dish一個係菠菜一個係蘑菇兩個嘅份量都足夠。不過唔知原來本身main dish裏頭已經有足夠嘅配菜如果唔係可以慳返啲錢叫多一啲唔同嘅嘢食。

甜品 

Gelato & Pear Crumble
老實講個甜品就真係麻麻地無論係雪糕定係個Pear Crumble. 論雪糕佢冇意大利雪糕嗰種甜同埋滑,sorbet 的味道亦唔夠濃。
所以我寧願去第度食甜品

講真你話佢差佢又唔係不過你真係叫極都無人理你呢個先係最慘囉。

值得推介的是牛扒,羊扒和麵包籃。
建議唔好食咁多其他嘅嘢淨係識佢嘅主菜就已經可以了。

When it says ‘square’ I was imaging square sheets of pasta, it turned out to be normal flattened spaghetti. The egg pasta was surely homemade, it tasted more like Chinese yi mein to me. It’s a bit overdone and was all clumped together and soggy.

We wanted meatballs and we got small bits of minced meat. It was thin crust but it was already all soggy when I came to the table. Given that meat was quite scarce like but it was lacking salt.

Delizia Alle Perre - Pear crumble with pear sorbet (HKD 88)

Pear sorbet on top was refreshing. The crumble has a tart base which I found quite weird. Although 2/3 of the dish was crumble or tart, I still found the pear filling sweet.

The whole meal was quite a disappointment. Without the Super Monday offer. Instead of exploiting their fame, celebrity chefs should really be putting more emphasizes on food.

Everyone knows the myth surrounding the foundation of Rome - Romulus and Remus, originally left for dead but suckled by a she-wolf on the banks of the Tiber, rose to form the new city of Rome. Remus was killed by Romulus over a dispute about whether to build on the Palantine Hill or Aventine Hill, but the iconic image of the twins suckling on the lupa (Latin for she-wolf) has remained as steadfast as the great city herself. It was only fitting that an Italian restaurant should take the name of the she-wolf, as a symbol of simple Roman style dining. It helps that the restauranteur in question, Mario Batali, is one of the biggest names on the US and now international dining scene....

Mario Batali is Seattle-raised but trained under Marco Pierre White, before spending three years in Northern Italy honing his craft. He returned to the US where he has established many restaurants, and in the process been a recipient of the James Beard Award. While the original Lupa can be found in Manhattan's uber cool West Village area, Lupa Hong Kong is a collaboration between Batali and his business partner, Joe Bastianich, who together opened Babbo in New York and Eataly. With this heritage we were pretty keen to see what Lupa had to offer.

Learning the hard way about reservations in Hong Kong, I decided earlier in the day to book a table for dinner. However, upon arriving at the restaurant, we saw that the dining room was very large, and a reservation on a quiet Tuesday night may not have been required (but better safe than sorry). One of the first things that we noticed at the top of the escalators is the Terrace, a cool outdoor bar area which also serves food. It was on this terrace that the cool music was playing a few weeks prior. I could see this would be a good spot on a warm summer's evening for a cocktail (or two)...There is also a copy of the famous she-wolf statue, however due to the lack of a decent camera for this meal, no good photo can be provided...

We were seated right by the front window, which gave us a good view of Queens Road Central and up towards Lan Kwai Fong, and, after having an opportunity to review the menu and place our orders, were served some bread and a small bowl of Zucchini. Not being particularly hungry (still getting over a dodgy corn dog), I decided to start with the Carpaccio Di Manzo, a beef carpaccio with arugula, parmigiano and black truffle. I was looking forward to a dish of delicately sliced beef with shavings of truffle, but when the dish was presented I was a little surprised with the amount of arugula on the plate. I was also surprised when starting to eat it by the lack of seasoning on the plate, and the lack of flavour of the truffle. The beef itself was nice and tender, but could have benefited from some seasoning and a little less arugula.

FMUS decided to try the mushroom soup, which was thick and coarse, with lashing of cracked pepper and a swirl of olive oil. Mushroom soup seems to be in vogue at the moment and there are some amazing and creamy soups out there. The Lupa version was OK, but it didn't set the world on fire. The main issue that while it had a lot of cracked pepper, it still needed some additional seasoning and possibly something to give it a creamier flavour and texture. Nevertheless, it went down well and was still enjoyable.

Being the sucker for lobster that I am, as a main I chose the Linguine All'Astice, linguine with lobster, cherry tomatoes and braised leek. My first bite was disappointing, as I had a forkful of undercooked linguine, however that must have been sitting at the top of the pot, as the rest of the linguine was perfectly cooked. There was further disappointment when I found a piece of cartilage still attached to some of the lobster, but I guess it proves the lobster was fresh.... Like most great Italian pastas, there were few ingredients working together well, and if not for a couple of bites (cartilage and hard pasta), it would have been a sensational dish.

While I'm a sucker for lobster, FMUS is a sucker for a good risotto. His main was the Risotto Ai Gamberi Rossi di Sicilia, risotto with red prawns, seafood and fresh herbs. The risotto was laid out traditional style, flat in a large plate and there was plenty of fresh seafood sitting atop. We find it a little disconcerting at times with a large prawn head taking pride of place on the dish..... I guess it's to show that the prawn is fresh, but it really gets in the way and is hard to get to the prawn flesh.. We much prefer when there are prawns in a risotto completely peeled, yep, we know its a good restaurant and trust that the prawns will be fresh. The risotto itself was well cooked and had beautiful flavour that tasted of the sea.

I could not feat another bite, so begged off dessert, but FMUS did have a look at the dessert menu. As I was not having any, he decided also not to partake in something sweet (unusually), and we called for the bill. I couldn't fault the service staff all night, they were attentive yet not overbearing, and always ready with a smile. For a change we were not left sitting there waiting forever for the bill to come back (which is a bit of a pet peeve I must admit), but were quickly and efficiently on our way.

While my meal had some errors, I could see how Lupa would be a good spot to meet up with people for a meal and a few drinks after a long day at the office. The decor is warm yet not rustic, and the open kitchen provides a good view of the staff hard at work. I am keen to head back to the Terrace to try some of the bar food, and of course a few drinks!

自己比較喜愛薄餅,特別是拿波里薄餅、可能用了蕃茄、水牛芝士及金不換焗烤、入口有小小酸味但勝在餅底夠脆。反而雜箘薄餅就唔係太受歡迎,可能用料太足的原因,入口時箘味太濃。

Nice place, prime location but quality of food can fluctuate.

This restaurant has caught my attention quite some time ago but only now have I dared to brave the mixed reviews and sample what Lupa has to offer at lunch time.

Decor and Ambience
Depending on where you sit, the ambience and the dining experience can vary quite a bit. Upon being greeted at the concierge, you are escorted along a corridor, with half-circle sofa tables on your left. If your seat is not one of those, there are quite a number of cafe tables and chairs in the main dining area. Rather clustered too. As people filled in the main dining area, the din can be quite affective if you're trying to strike a healthy conversation. There it feels like a noisy cafe or canteen. However if you were seated in the sofa tables along the corridor, as we were, the ambience is a bit classier and more private. 

Food
I've heard about the brunch buffet on weekends, but I didn't do my research thoroughly to investigate what they actually offer for lunch. (Or it wasn't immediately obvious from the first few pages of reviews on Openrice, no matter). For lunch on weekdays, most people would probably go for the lunch buffet which includes some selection of starters, salads, soup and dessert, plus a limited selection of pasta/pizza/mains with additional charge of up to $90. The basic lunch buffet was $188 or so, FYI.

If you were more particular about food or can't be bothered to share the lunch buffet with us "commoners" you are welcome to choose a la carte from their lunch menu. I suspect this menu differs from their dinner menu, but should offer enough variety in any case.

In my honest opinion I do not think their salad bar is half bad. As compared to Gold by Harlan, or Bloom, the salad bar Lupa offers a more fullsome variety including seared tuna, some decent parma ham among other cold cuts, salmon, seasoned aubergines, pesto pasta salad, cubes of cold quiche, olives etc. (8/10 - the way salad bar goes)

Our meal was going fine until this penne. Quite disappointed to find it lacking heat, which is quite a no no for seafood (frozen) obviously. The pasta was probably homemade, which is encouraging but also gives for less quality control I believe. The texture is unlike any other penne I've had, it's almost crispy, crunchy. Which is so unconventional for pasta and penne....Not sure what to make of this. It's not your usual al dente, nor was it uncooked. (6.5/10)

I really like this dish and so would you if you, like me, love pasta sauce more than pasta, as well as comfort food like mac n cheese. A critic would probably say the proportion of oxtail ragout vs gnocchi is a bit too much, indeed there is as much oxtail meat/sauce as there are gnocchi. But that's fine with me I like wet and soft foods. The softness is another thing that strikes me. The gnocchi probably shouldn't have been so soft as baby mush...but I liked it for what it was. At least it's got individuality lol. (8/10)

Dessert
Neglected to take pictures of the bit size cakes and desserts from the buffet table. Nothing worth noting anyway. But I do appreciate the cheeses they had. (7/10)

訂咗枱下午一時正,凖時抵達,結果要等25分鐘。知客全無歉意,只推托食客正在食甜品。除我們之外,還有其他比我們早到(而且有訂位)的客人一樣要等位,明顯管理有問題(overbooked?)在中環工作超過15年,未見過有餐廳食客1點鐘食緊甜品。11點半開始食嗎?高級餐廳嘅話,你唔係諗住客人1個鐘頭內點菜、食完、埋單、走人下嗎?如果無位就唔好接預訂啦!如果約咗客嚟食晏就真係死得!

訂咗枱下午一時正,凖時抵達,結果要等25分鐘。知客全無歉意,只推托食客正在食甜品。除我們之外,還有其他比我們早到(而且有訂位)的客人一樣要等位,明顯管理有問題(overbooked?)在中環工作超過15年,未見過有餐廳食客1點鐘食緊甜品。11點半開始食嗎?高級餐廳嘅話,你唔係諗住客人1個鐘頭內點菜、食完、埋單、走人下嗎?如果無位就唔好接預訂啦!如果約咗客嚟食晏就真係死得!
