雖然已經搬離開咗跑馬地10幾年,中學時期喺度渡過。十幾年前亦曾經喺跑馬地住過三年。對於呢度嘅舖頭。始終有一定嘅情意結。蓮園亦係我其中一間轉成入跑馬地食嘅舖頭之一。雖然霞姐直述式嘅答案或者個人風格令到好多人都卻步,講真我細嗰時都怕佢,但我就係由細食到大,所以知道佢嘅性格人夾人緣。總之你快脆叫嘢食唔好扭扭擰擰,其實佢啲嘢真係好味。佢嘅價錢比隔離兩條街嗰間貼地。今日趁阿仔考完試就嚟個快閃跑馬地美食之旅。炸兩真係要必食。水準仍然保持得好好。真係超好味。豬膶粥。牛筋腩。鹹肉糭。。仲有西米布甸,呢個甜品係驅使我成日專登揸車入去買外賣。有啲舖頭做得耐咗或者出名咗做咗遊客生意 ,水準會唔每每下降。例子比比皆是。。呢間舖頭大大話話應該有40年?難得佢保持水準。應該要多多支持。如果大家怕老闆娘可愛嘅坦率性格,建議大家可以買外賣。不過我唔怕我繼續會坐低喺度食。 continue reading

今日路過,老闆娘介紹食豬潤粥同埋炸兩。粥底綿滑,老闆娘話冇味精,食落都似。見佢豬潤淥得幾好,叫多個生灼豬潤,非常鮮甜。老闆娘話個腸粉皮係即制,又係食落都似。傾多兩傾,加外賣兩杯布甸、同埋啲師傅自製嘅蝦子花生、醃製糖果等等,埋單兩個人,下午茶時段消費$290。未試過喺酒店以外嘅地方,食到咁貴下午茶,不過食得開心都抵嘅。 continue reading

好耐冇去跑馬地食飯,難得入到來這個高尚住宅區開餐,順便搵搵有冇好味道甜品。印象中,幾年前還有三四間甜品專門店或雪糕店,估唔到去到今天,只餘下一間正正式式的甜品店,冇得選擇的情況下,就去光顧了這一間在跑馬地歷史最悠久的甜品店「蓮園甜品」。唔知什麼原因,竟然一個客人都沒有。典型街坊中式甜品老店,面積超細,既要安排三四張細枱、又要有一個煮甜品的小廚房、還要擺放一個款式老土的不鏽鋼甜品雪櫃,沒有任何室內設計可言。唯一最大優點,就是這些舊區的地舖通常樓底超高,原意是方便加建一個小閣樓擺放雜物;不過「蓮園甜品」並沒有這樣做,只是安裝了一把大吊扇,空間感即時變得寬敞,在炎炎夏日也會比較通爽涼快。雖然唔清楚這間小店有多少年歷史,但牆壁上卻掛上了一些50年歷史以上、已經發黃的陳年黒白舊照片;又有一些類似古董珍藏的彩色舊照片。莫非老闆是古董收藏家?款式選擇唔算太多,大部份都是傳統中式甜品;芒果班戟及香蕉班戟已經算是最新派的甜品了。其他人都揀了名物蓮茸西米焗布甸($28)。好懷念細個時去酒樓食的推車仔焗西米布甸,焗到焦焦哋嘅皮夠晒香口,西米要落足料,再配以清香的中式蓮蓉,兩種食材產生嘅化學作用完美結合,真係令人回味。但因製作需時,今時今日提供西米蓮蓉焗布甸的酒樓寥寥可數,就算有味道都大不如前,「蓮香樓」的焗西米布甸就最近似。說回這個西米布甸,首先不夠熱烘烘,已經大打折扣。表面不夠焦脆,下面的西式奶黃布甸不夠香不夠滑。西米份量太少,缺少了一份口感。唯一好處是西米中間的中式蓮蓉甜度剛好不太甜腻。唔鍾意食焗布甸,叫了羗汁燉蛋($35)。之前已經問清問楚有沒有熱燉蛋,老闆回答:「整翻熱俾你!」當時只覺得老闆的回答有點奇怪一但也沒有認真在意。當燉蛋送上來的時候,心裏即時打了一個突:「點解完全沒有冒熱?」摸一摸碗邊,竟然一點溫暖都沒有,終於明白老闆所說「翻熱」的意思,只是不夠徹底;到底「蓮園」是否沒有熱燉蛋?算了,就當作食碗「唔冰凍的凍燉蛋」吧!細細看清楚燉蛋表面,唔夠光滑之餘,貼著碗壁位置又起了一點點氣泡,已經預料燉蛋一定唔會滑溜。掏起一湯匙燉蛋,果然十分結實;食落口就更明顯,完全沒有中式燉蛋應該有的嫰滑。味道異常清淡,沒有冰糖的清甜。從燉蛋的窩洞內更加見到密麻麻的起泡,而且一點水份都看不見,足以證明這一碗燉蛋無論是蛋液與水份的比例、筲隔氣泡的徹底度、冰糖水的份量、以致燉蛋的時間控制,完全沒有一點合乎標準,只可以用六個字總結:「徹底失敗,難食!」平時甚少特登去食中式糖水,所以價錢算唔算貴真的不太清楚,只知道下一次應該唔會再幫襯。話說回來,為什麼跑馬地的其他中日式甜品店相繼結業,只剩下這一間?真的不能理解!? continue reading

甜品這個東西, 我真係識條鐵 。。。一碗布甸就可以開一間店, 撐起一頭家 ,一個字講完 。。勁蓮園的 蓮蓉西米 焗布甸, 真的是遠近馳名 ,聽聞 有不少 名人明星, 也會特登 駛駕車 來買外賣。 有時也會見到日本遊客, 拿著旅遊書 ,慕名而來光顧。蓮蓉不是太甜, 加了西米焗 ,口感軟綿綿帶點煙韌 ,香香的, 甜甜的 ,甚為好味。店子已經屹立在跑馬地 好多十年了。。。 仍然能夠憑獨步單方 經營下去 ,一定有它過人之處, 應該可以寫成 一個 made in hong kong 的 MBA case study。 continue reading

Tried this place a few years ago and didn't quite like it back then. Earlier this week some Thai friends were in town and we just wandered into this place since there aren't that many other choices in the area when it comes to dessert. The double boiled milk pudding ( 燉奶 ) appeared to be made from milk powder, while the sesame and coconut dessert ( 芝麻椰汁糕 ) tasted like a mix of chemical sesame powder and artificially flavoured coconut milk. This was very disappointing and definitely not worth the premium price that they were charging. We politely asked the waiter to take a photo for us and our request got ignored as the guy said he was busy ( even though at one point we were the only guests in this small place ). This establishment really seems to take pride in being rude to its customers, and at the same time the desserts seriously taste horrible with strong hints of artificial flavourings. I think it might have been a place with some fame in the past but with the current quality and attitude I'm just not sure how they could possibly maintain their brand equity going forward. continue reading
