Restaurant 1 of the CWB Japan Challenge – KouheitsuCWB Japan Challenge – to try every (decent) Japanese restaurant in CWB (that I haven’t tried) and review them.Was excited to try the new Sekai no Yamachan in Circle Tower, but turns out they haven’t opened yet (as of early March 2017). As such, we ended up at one of Circle Tower’s nameless, faceless izakaya – Kouheitsu. A fairly local shop, it was very full that weekday night, and we ended seated up at the bar.Menu was completely standard, with the only unusual dish (as far as I could tell), a deep fried tofu and eel wrap, which to my everlasting surprise, was pretty tasty (my snobby Japanese friend hated it of course).We ordered a number of other typical things, including ramen salad, yakitori, sushi, etc. Wanted to find something unusual but there really wasn’t much on the menu. Asked for the specialty and they suggested Ox Tongue (which I love but is just so standard)… As for quality and taste – there was one stand-out dish: mentaiko fried rice. Plenty of mentaiko but interestingly combined with takana pickles for a great combination of slightly sour and salty. Apart from that, nothing incredible nor memorable but neither was anything actually terrible.Drinks list wasn’t bad, with some interesting beers available by bottle including a few varieties of Coedo, Hitachino and other atypical Japanese beers I can’t remember. However, they unforgivably have no beers on tap - an Izakaya without draft beer??  As for liquor, they have a number of choices for sake and a very limited selection of shochu as well (they had to dig up an off-the-menu bottle for me). Service was friendly, and they put up with quite a bit of my nonsense. No other large complaints. Total bill was about $300 / person with quite a bit of food and ordered. Fairly reasonable.Bottom line: My baseline middle-of-the-road HK CWB izakaya – wouldn’t go back voluntarily but if someone insisted we go, I wouldn’t be too upset either. continue reading

其實食過這間餐廳幾好 感覺很好 所以想支持下小店就寫下跑與兩位朋友叫左 煙肉荔枝串 味道好特別 本身唔食煙肉 但夾埋荔枝就好討好 (推介) 叫左牛肉烏冬窩 味道好好 有2人同4人分量 我地3個人叫左二人分量都夠 南瓜沙律 仍然好味最失色就是叫左個雞肉串 唔記得實質名字 味道ma ma continue reading

上次已經黎過一次,但因為冇booking, 所以滿座,唯有下次booking先再來過!終於我個靚女朋友又再約我黎,我地book左8點,到的時候等左10分鐘左右便入座,但座位有點窄,環境比較細!好啦,入正題!我想飲返支beer配食物,但要淡beer, 結果個女員工介紹左orion比我,口感淡淡!魚湯雜菜鍋,魚湯味鮮甜、豆腐好好食!鹽燒牛脷就普通左少少,我嫌佢煮得唔夠香口!鵪鶉蛋是我必食的食物之一,去到邊只要有它,我一定會叫之後再叫左軟殼蟹卷,大大份,即刻飽左一半, 而且好鬆脆! 再加上蟹子同沙律,真係perfect match火炙壽司只叫左2款,因為已經好飽了! continue reading

「情人節」——對於大部分情侶來說,相信只是眾多大時大節的其中一個,更有些都未必會理會的一個節日。但對我跟他來說,卻是我們的週年紀念日。每年到了這一天都有同一個煩惱,一方面因爲想好好紀念一個屬於我倆的日子,另一方面又不想敗給那些故意提高價格的情人節大餐。而他,一如既往地為了我們的紀念日而做了些功課,找到了這一家不用必點情人大餐的日式小餐館。 而我,亦一如既往地只牽著他、跟著他去這一家佢已預約好的餐廳,哈哈!打開電梯就看到了餐廳的門牌,小小的木牌讓人感到溫暖。 一早訂好位子,來到了就可以進去了。餐廳不大,所以相對地位子與位子之間的間隔不算多,而我們的位子剛好在牆邊,所以感覺不是跟鄰座很近。 更好的是餐廳有提供一些籃子讓客人用來放袋子,真的設想周到。因為是情人節,所以老闆娘特別容許食客點部分食物時可以只點半份,好讓我們可以嘗試更多食物,真好!在等待食物時,老闆娘為我們送上相片中那朵漂亮的玫瑰花餅乾及護手霜,這都是她朋友弄的,只要幫忙like and share Facebook page就可以有了。跟老闆娘閒聊了幾句,食物就已經差不多準備好了。【刺身拼盤 (2/3份) 】平常的刺身拼盤是每款三件,但這一天可以點兩人份,即每款兩件,兩個人一人一件不用爭又可以一齊試更多食物,我倆二話不說就選了二人份。刺身拼盤有七款刺身,分別是三文魚、帶子、甜蝦、海膽、章魚、油甘魚及希靈魚。每一款都很新鮮鮮甜,而且沒想到連海膽也包括了,份量還不少,味道不腥又鮮甜,而其他的也很好,作了一個很好的開始。【自製雞丸】雞丸彈牙,吃得出不是麵粉丸,是真材實料的用上雞肉的。【鰻魚豆腐天婦羅】這一款本來老闆娘也問了我們要不要半份,但鰻魚跟豆腐都是我很喜愛的食物,就決定要全份。而這個決定是對的!炸得非常香脆的紫菜包著很滑的豆腐跟厚厚的鰻魚,又脆又滑又腍的口感很豐富,而三者的味道也很配合,一口咬下去無論是味道還是口感都很豐富,難怪看到差不多每一枱都有點這一個菜,真是個又好吃又特別的食物!【玉子厚燒 (半份) 】名副其實,這份玉子燒真的很厚燒,大概是我吃過中最厚燒的。雖然是厚燒但卻不老,而玉子亦夠甜,滿足到我這個愛玉子之人。【煙肉荔枝串】本以為煙肉加荔枝應會有點怪,但嚐了一個之後卻發現這個配合比想像中好多了,荔枝的清甜中和了煙肉的咸味跟油膩,感覺清新,又是一道味道跟口感同樣豐富的一道菜。【吉列蠔 (半份) 】即叫即炸脆卜卜,而炸皮又不厚,是不錯的吉列蠔。【鰻魚飯】饅魚控表示在大日子去日式餐廳一定要點鰻魚來滿足一下。鰻魚肉身肥厚而大條,而蒲燒的效果也做得不錯,唯美中不足的不是用上木盒來盛著,否則感覺會更加好。【芝麻雪糕、綠茶雪糕】結帳後,餐廳會送上一人一球雪糕,我們選了綠茶及芝麻雪糕。而當中的芝麻雪糕令人甚為驚喜,其芝麻味很濃郁,建議如果當天有提供這口味的話就值得試試看。這家店不單沒有在情人節這些人氣大節日中加價,反而部分食物更讓食客只點半份,實屬難得!雖然也有設下最低消費,但也只是每人$250,特別是在這種日子及銅鑼灣這個旺區中,實在是一個很合理的數目,而且點多幾樣小食,不難達到這個金額。除此之外,店內其他的職員跟老闆娘一樣友善殷勤 ,看到我倆在自拍就主動上前幫助拍照,而拍出來的角度很讚的!節目氣氛濃厚,但這裏的人情味更濃厚。能在我倆的紀念日中遇上這種小店,更添美好。 continue reading

這家有家庭式經營感覺的日本料理已不是頭一次光顧了,帶著不同的朋友到來大家都留下良好的印象,我亦樂意繼續帶人來品嚐! 每次都會點很多款食物,今次亦唔例外!前菜一般都是青瓜牛舌粒~雖然menu上沒有三文魚腩的選擇,但幾乎每次師傅都會選魚腩部位及厚切給客人。魚很鮮甜沒雪氣味,明顯跟某些放題刺身的質素大不同。似是蟹子沙律跟拉麵混合版,上桌時幾乎給它的份量嚇倒,建議人多時大家一起淺嚐,留肚品嚐其他美食!幾乎每檯都必定會點,厚紫菜包著嫩滑的豆腐和鰻魚油炸,進食時小心豆腐極度燙口!!配天婦羅汁進食更加可口。有點不明所以不論何時餐廳都有鮮甜肥美的荔枝製作這煙肉荔枝卷,荔枝清甜有效中和煙肉的鹹味,味道層次分明令人百吃不厭,就是很多人對荔枝的瘋狂了!魚湯新鮮製作最好提前預留,魚湯完全找不到調味料的痕跡,就只有鮮甜的魚味,有家的味道。配自選二人份或四人份的烏冬。魚湯較清淡另有較濃味的牛肉鍋烏冬也是很值得推介的選擇。結帳前會奉上自家製雪糕,選擇豆腐雪糕和菠蘿雪糕一定無憾呢~ continue reading
