Visited this shop often when it's new open years ago.  Rare visited since friendly barista left.  This weekend just want to have a leisure weekend with my mom nearby.  Never think to be greeted by a rude and impolite female staff as a start of my weekend morning.  I asked for a food menu but she responded in a very rude and blunt way.  As I did not want to spoil my precious time with mom and so kept dine there instead of leaving immediately.  I ordered a flat white, a latte,  together with a breakfast named Meaty on the menu.  Actually, both Flat White and Latte are nice except with low average latte art.  The food is average and nothing's special.…Read More

My friends and I were strolling around the mid level yesterday. When we saw this coffee shop from the opposite road, I thought it looks like a shop that sells coffee machines and beans or even a coffee workshop. But luckily my friend was desperate for a rest so he went checking out. Turns out it is a coffee shop. So voila there we went.There were plenty of available seats despite it is a typical small shop in hk. probably it's because people are still not all going out? IDK...I ordered my normal go-to piccolo and it didn't disappoint me. The size is actually bigger than my normal purchase . The shop let my friends and I chat peacefully for quite a few hours. It took a bit of walk and stairs climbing to get to Filters Lane from Sheung Wan, as Filters Lane is located on mid-levels. But it’s definitely worth the “workout” as the coffee and bakery item are so so good!I ordered a cup of Flat White, which had a nice balance of fruity-ness and nutty-ness. Very enjoyable! The Orange and Pop Seed Bread gave me a nice surprise! It’s dense and moist with a strong orange flavor, which made it a nice afternoon tea item!I also love the vibes of Filters Lane on a Friday afternoon, where you could bring your laptop to do some work, or bring a book to read while enjoying your coffee and food. hot Americano, overall flavor is not bad but it's under extracted as a strong sourness remained. latte, milky and balanced bringing out the flavor of the coffee yet not overpowering the milk and with a hint of sweetness which was nice.As a person who would usually only drink black coffee, I would not recommended the americano since it's highly underbrewed so I would recommend the latte instead with a tinge of sweetness with the right balance.…Read More

Humanity, openness and friendliness:I find humanity here. They reveal everything, every ingredients they use. They tell me why they make this but not that. I learnt a lot. It is like I can learn brewing coffee by drinking their coffees. They got the legendary transparency. I think maybe because customers are their friends. Their recipe is like "open-source". And wow, every customers are like more than being VIP. It is hardly find another coffee shop that can be so informative to their customers. This would be great for poeple with low self-esteem and social anxiety.Atmosphere:Modern. I always fall in love to modern atmosphere. :(From the outside all good. A beautiful roaster adorns the front window and the interior is well laid out. I ordered a latte to drink in but they give me a takeaway instead. They did replace the drink quickly, but it was disappointing not to be asked whether I wanted to dine in or take away. I then enquired about beans to takeaway, given they had Yirgacheffe in the counter. But no. They didn't have those to sell. There were a range of others but no prices and when I enquired I didn't really get very far. A genuine lack of interest in what the customer is asking for. The latte was slightly bitter and needed sugar to bring it to life. As a final point, it would have been nice to have the drink sent to the table. But they rely on you to collect from the counter. 環境很好，但外面的陽光照不進來坐的位置～也不算是壞處的，因為總有人不喜歡迎著陽光喝咖啡。咖啡哥哥很友善，見我坐了好一陣子，杯都盡了，就給我倒了杯水來。＾＾一切都很好... 但那杯咖啡真的不是我喜歡的。（well, 好喝不也很主觀，可能你會覺得好喝）這是想像中與現實太大落差... 我想，這是店主精心調配的coffee:cocoa 比例，有別於外面的Mocha. 我expect 的Mocha 是濃郁的：Dark Roasted +Dark Chocolate, 混入綿滑的鮮奶，得出的味道通常較厚重，啡味不受巧克力的抑制，反而突出咖啡的烘焙香，兩者的苦澀互混為一，微微的黑巧克力甜作點綴，喝一口已叫人滿足。Filter Lane 的Mocha：（其實看樣子是猜不到它是Mocha）highRoasted/city Roasted+ milk Chocolate，得出的味道太mild... 咖啡味被巧克力干擾了，巧克力是牛奶巧克力 所以味道也不突出，最後他們選用的奶也未見香滑... 明明是點了whole milk，卻沒有有預期中的奶脂香。結果，就是未如預期。價錢我是不太記得了，大概在＄45-50 之間的價錢。算是偏貴了。…Read More

This is a real cafe—mostly coffee. Amazing filter blends and great beans. But today I had an espresso. And I have to say that was as good as any espresso I've ever had, and I've had a lot. No bitterness, just the richness of great filtered coffee, but with much more intensity. Complex flavor with notes ranging from wood to smoke to fruit. Amazing. This is the second time I've had the espresso here, and it will quickly become a habit. Rome ranks high on the espresso list.
