I made a reservation for duddel's but I got the lounge. this is because I asked if there's a spot with power sockets. I was already wondering why I need to go upstairs. they have put me at the lounge what is not what I made the reservation for. the girl was trying to push me to stay at the lounge I was so pissed that I didn't got what I asked for. I Just left off. never going back here again for sure.... So I went to the neighbour l'atelier de Robuchon where they always welcome me nicely.

In a nutshell, food quality is average (so many good places in HK for dim sum that it is a pity to come here), service nice but so many mistakes (we got our desserts before some of our main dishes and got dishes and drinks from other table... see the picture also). The place itself is not well-designed, noisy and chairs not convenient to enjoy some food.
So, we surely had worse but definitely had better. If you're looking for free flow champagne, think that for one hundred hkd more you can access to much better places than this one...
Last but not least, I felt that most of the dishes were too salty or too sweet... but well I can't expect a chef for that much food right?
We litteraly tried all dishes offered for the brunch and only the chicken breast and buns with iberico ham worth to consider...

I think there's no need to re-iterate what others have mentioned. Went for the brunch recently and you pretty much know what to expect at a place like Duddells, a fancy mansion right smack in the middle of Central. Nice interior decor, friendly and professional staff, as well as tasty food. And of course, the corresponding price to pay. Which was, in all honesty, quite reasonable given the free flow dim sum and drinks. In short, do try it out if you haven't!

the service was excellent though. for the small place there seemed to be too many people walking around but you never have to wait to call someone's attention.

why this has 2 michelin stars I cannot explain. I don't think those guys at michelin have gone around HK enough to find the really good, authentic places.

if it's cantonese and/or dimsum you want, there are literally dozens of other places with better food. perhaps not the ambience. but for this price, is that what you really want to spend your money on?

Duddell's is a stylish 2 Michelin starred restaurant that serves high end Chinese cuisine with prices to match. Executive lunch set on weekdays cost $360 while dinner tasting menu costs $1280. They also do a wicked weekend brunch with unlimited dim sum, champagnes and cocktails for $680 which is perfect if you ever get bored with eating dim sum with just regular tea! The restaurant is divided into 2 floors with the main restaurant on level 3 and the Salon & Garden Terrace on level 4. Our voucher was only applicable to the Salon & Garden Terrace so I gathered another couple to sample some dim sum and cocktails with us one night. The Salon was a very chic and spacious bar area but luckily they also had regular dining tables with plush red sofas so it was comfortable to eat there as well.

The cocktails looked pretty amazing here so I got the Opium to try with a Johnny Walker base, poppy seed milk, peach and a little touch of lime. It was sweet but well-balanced and refreshing at the same time.

For the food, you can order a la carte or their Sharing Platters which is designed for 4 people. We ended up trying 2 of the 4 sharing platters including the Fiery Specialties ($850) with Smoked Duck Breast with Honey, Barbecued Iberico Pork with Honey, Roasted Suckling Pig and Crispy Salted Duck. Everything was pretty good and the quality was solid but none of the items really stood out here and if you ask me, I felt that the price was pretty steep for the price and it's not like you can't find better quality elsewhere either. But again I guess you dine here for the hip ambiance and the option to drink trendy cocktails with Chinese food.

The Decadent Platter ($800) had Shrimp Dumpling with Matsutake Mushroom, Iberico Pork Dumpling with Shrimp, Taro Puff with Roasted Goose and Goose Liver, Secret Recipe Fried Chicken with Shrimp Paste, Sauteed Mushroom with Asparagus & Capsium, and Braised Vermicelli with Seafood and Egg White. I also wanted to try the Duddell's Peking Duck ($600) which is supposed to be carved at our table and served with all the trimmings (whatever that means) but the staff had warned us that it wasn't really worth it since they only serve us the skin. I appreciated his honesty but since there wasn't anything else I wanted to try, I still ordered the Peking duck which was paraded in whole to our table before being carved somewhere behind the scenes instead of our table like their menu said. I think we got in total 2 plates of crispy Peking duck skin along with steamed pancake wraps and the usual garnishes. I liked the Peking duck skin since it wasn't too fatty and crispy enough but I don't get why they can't serve us the rest of the duck anyways since it's such a waste. I think they said they only serve the skin because that's the best part already blah blah but if I freaking paid for the duck, then I want the whole thing including the meat inside! Most Chinese restaurants will let you take the carcass home so you can make soup with it, and it just makes me wonder what happened to the rest of our duck...

Verdict - the Salon at Duddell's is a trendy place to eat dim sum with cocktails but prices are a bit overpriced for the portions and quality. It's too bad that we didn't get to try the food at the Restaurant level which should be better since it was awarded 2 Michelin stars so I'd want to go back to Duddell's for that.

這篇食評,來到了《都爹利會館》。餐廳位處都爹利街1號上海灘樓上,電梯門一開,就見到一幅字畫裝飾,典雅高貴。所選用的餐具頗有風格,翠綠如玉的餐碟,底下還有沉厚的底座,晶瑩剔透的長型筷子座等....,擺放十分講究。午市行政套餐HKD360/位,若配一杯白、粉紅或紅酒HKD450/位,那就小試牛刀罷!點心拼盤春卷皮炸至金黃香脆,裏面包裹著蝦仁、甘筍絲和冬菇絲,材料豐盛,蘸一點喼汁,簡單的已很美味!蝦餃型態飽滿,晶瑩剔透,而且摺口相當細緻,餃皮不算得很薄,但軟糯得來帶點煙韌,內裏包裹著大隻爽口蝦仁,合格!叉燒肉質鬆化軟腍不肥膩,蜜汁濃郁,帶點嚼勁,如果燒得焦香一點感覺會更好!雲吞酸辣羹湯料都是一般的木耳、冬菇、鮮筍切成絲,多重口感,但沒有我喜愛的蛋花,色澤較淺。雲吞餡料蝦仁爽口,但略嫌皮身不夠薄,質感一般。湯羹味道不夠酸辣正宗,淡而無味,要灑上胡椒粉調味,而且湯身較稀,稠度不夠,可惜!鮑汁爆雞球冬菇和雞球用鮑魚汁去烹調使其入味,雞肉口感不算嫩滑,但整體調味倒是沒錯,還有兩顆翠綠的小唐菜做伴碟呢!雲腿斑片蒸豆腐斑片不單柔韌充滿彈性,雲腿帶點咸香,肉質不會太實,可惜獻汁太多感覺糊口,不大喜歡,而且

小時候已對荷葉飯,情有獨鍾。
終於,袖珍版的荷葉飯以蒸籠端上,賣相可愛,揭開面頭荷葉,荷香稍欠,只得其形而欠其實,一丁點荷香也嚐不出來,飯粒上色但入口較乾不夠濕潤,失望之作!

外型小巧的煎堆仔看似平凡,剛炸起的外皮煙韌酥脆不油膩,感覺健康一點,然而餡料不是傳統的蓮蓉,而用上芳香的杏仁吉士,杏仁味道甜度得宜,口味創新之餘又夠可口,大愛也~
咖啡千層糕口感煙韌軟糯帶嚼勁,咖啡味道沒有太搶,不錯!

上司請食飯,有幸來到呢間米芝蓮二星餐廳食lunch,實在太開心 !以為呢度要會員先來得,但原來唔洗!我地一同四個人,每人叫左個 executive lunch ($360),連甜品一共有6道菜。第一味係點心拼盤,有三種點心,個蜜汁叉燒好好味!一d都唔韌。個餃都唔錯,而個春捲新鮮炸好,好脆,味道一流 跟著主菜方面有個餛飩羹,冬菇雞球,魚同荷葉飯,每一樣都賣相精緻,味道ok,不過就唔算好特別。甜品方面有個咖啡糕同炸煎堆,咖啡糕一般,但個炸煎堆就非常出色!一咬落去有d杏汁流出來,熱辣辣好好味 !整體來講都爹利會館環境舒適,食物質素唔錯,服務都幾好,不過價錢就貴左d,一個行政午餐連加一要$400一位,適合來呢個食business lunch,如果要我自己比錢的話就真係唔係好捨得!仲有呢度上菜速度唔快,如果得一個鐘lunch會好趕,建議都係搵日有多d時間先來呢度慢慢嘆個米芝蓮二星lunch!
