Check-In Taipei has been around for a while. Every time we walked by there was always a lengthy line of people waiting to dine in. But on this day, we walked by and there was no one in line! I guess it was due to a little after lunch peak hour? Never the less, we decided to give it a try and went in. The place wasn't exceptionally big. Most of the space was taken up by a bar. Menu is in English and Chinese. They offer modernized Taiwanese. You won't find the classics here but variations of it.Boyfriend decided to get a drink. They had a lot of interesting selections but he finally decided on Green Bean Slush ($55). This was interesting. The slushie version of the classic Chinese green bean dessert. It literally tasted like it. Boyfriend loved it.We usually order Taiwanese fried chicken so we started with their version: Signature Crispy Chicken ($88). They looked like perfect round balls. There were two dipping sauces: yuzu citrus and truffle. The yuzu was my favorite and very very sticky. Usually I dislike truffle but here they didn't over do it and didn't leave the pungent taste that I dislike so much.  The chicken itself was moist and juicy. The coating was crisp and nicely seasoned with what appeared to be paprika? Unsure.Aburi Japanese Eel Corn Egg Crepe ($148) was their modernized take on the Taiwanese egg crepe. They flame seared it at the table so you got an instant smell of toasted cheese. The eel was firm yet fresh enough. The cheese added was good. They also had bonito flakes on the side for you to add on your own. The egg crepe was a bit on the thick side but was filled with sweet corn.Scallions Packed Beef Noodles ($118) was unbelievably good. You get a choice of vermicelli or knife cut noodles. We chose the knife cut noodles. The noodles were wonderful. Thick yet smooth. The beef shin was so thickly cut! I don't think I've had that thick a cut in Hong Kong. But so SO tender. I literally didn't even need to chew much. They included a soft yolk egg much like those more commonly found in ramen.  It was also topped with deep fried cordyceps which was wow! I loved this additon. It gave the whole dish that crunchy texture. Ingenious. The soup was a clear rich beef broth. But if you are missing that deep beefy spicy flavor often found in Taiwanese beef noodle, they offer it in a spoonable beef oil butter. Add a little and pow! It really hits you! A little literally goes a long way.I had my doubts going in as I love the classics and really wary of ruining a good thing. But their take on things was creative and it worked. Food tasted good and everything made sense. Now I know why there's a line at night. continue reading

我與家人到大館逛逛,想看看展館,原來除了商店與食肆,很多展館都沒有開放,離開大館在荷李活道溜溜,最終選擇在「Check-In Taipei」,吃台式料理。招牌牛肉麵、鹽酥雞、伯爵茶凍QQ芋圓、鮮芭樂苦瓜汁、珍珠奶茶。 招牌牛肉麵,牛肉跟港式牛展很相似,有肉有爽筋,三大件的厚切牛肉口感很鮮味,份量十足,很能滿足愛吃肉的客人,寬又厚的刀削麵,麵質滑溜,與百頁豆腐掛著香味濃郁麵湯吃,很可口。半邊的流心蛋,蛋黃甘香且有薰香氣味。最特別是炸蟲草花,我未曾嚐過脆脆的蟲草花,炸過的蟲草花除了香脆,味道也是不錯的。「辣牛油」為麵食增添口感,能讓湯頭更顯香滑與微辣,我們也嘗一點點。 手繪雙色鹽酥雞 : 熱騰騰的鹽酥雞外層香鬆脆,肉質嫩滑、肉汁豐富美味。手繪雙色:碟子一邊是味道咸鹹香黑松露醬,另一邊則是帶點兒甜酸的柚子醬,非常清新,也各具風味!伯爵茶凍QQ芋圓,份量非常足夠兩人分享,兼備爽滑、綿糯、清甜。我的鮮芭樂苦瓜汁,鮮芭樂汁清甜有果香,苦瓜汁的甘涼,拌勻飲是最棒的組合。家人的少甜少冰珍珠奶茶。。。 continue reading

早前想去check in taipei吃午飯才知道餐廳裝修中,今晚加班後放工經過發現已經裝修完畢,又可以再光顧了!**每台都準備好可消毒餐具的消毒噴霧十分貼心,食得安心**天氣凍就來立即吃一碗牛肉麵!所以一坐下想也不想就立刻先點一碗《爆蔥牛肉麵$118》(可以點選QQ面/刀削麵)。麵條方面我想可以飽肚又有口感而點了刀削麵,感覺很配冷天食用。湯底香濃,牛肉有三大塊帶筋爽而有咬口,值又完全不會韌,好吃!有幾款新派蛋餅,但我還是喜歡比較傳統的《台式肉鬆榨菜蛋餅$68》。蛋餅的質感不似一般厚厚的蛋酥皮,比較似西或的crepe,反而我更喜歡!中間的肉鬆榨菜夠滿,很提味。《雙色鹽酥炸雞$88》這個鹽酥雞很令人肚子滿足,因為一般的鹽酥雞是可以一口一件比較細小,但這個鹽酥雞根本就是一個雞球,外層酥香薄脆,咬開肉滑又有肉汁,入口滿足!碟上黃色是柚子醬,另外係松露醬,配上鹽酥炸雞十分惹味。《伯爵茶當QQ芋圓 $68》最後吃台式料理,少不得要吃芋圓。這個是凍食所以芋圓會比較硬身,熱食可能比較好。伯爵茶啫喱味道清香不錯。食物加這個調味都不錯。餐廳就在大館的對面馬路,趁着聖誕節放假時打算跟朋友到大館拍拍照,然後又可以Check-in Taipei了。 continue reading

回味這裡的台式美食,今天再來。 黑蒜牛肉麵: 可選刀削麵或寬粉絲,朋友喜愛口感煙韌的刀削麵,就選它吧。 湯底牛骨味濃,加上黑蒜油,味道更上一層樓。 台式牛肉入味,厚肉且腍、還有百頁豆腐、溏心蛋,特別是炸蟲草花,我未曾嚐過脆脆的蟲草花,為麵食增添口感。看到在桌上有一瓶「辣牛油」,註明是用純牛脂肪及香料辣椒製作,能讓湯頭更顯濃香。那一定要試一下。 按建議加入辣牛油,再嚐一口湯,果然多了一層香滑的牛油味,不太辣,頗惹味呢 手繪雙色鹽酥雞 : 鹽酥雞外層鬆脆,肉質嫩滑。 黑松露醬味道香濃,柚子醬則清新帶點點酸。各有風味 髒髒芋泥鹹蛋黃蛋餅 : 蛋餅內是滿滿的芋泥,質感幼滑,味道清甜。黃色粒狀的是碎鹹蛋黃,使蛋餅味道更升層次,令我們禁不住一口一口的吃過不停。 伯爵茶凍QQ芋圓 : 彈牙軟糯的珍珠、芋頭和地瓜芋圓,清甜的綠豆和清爽的愛玉和伯爵茶凍,口感清凉。值得一讚的是服務態度非常好,誠懇有禮 已期待下次與好友再來聚餐 continue reading

上星期同朋友嚟咗呢度食飯鐘意佢哋嘅食物好味之餘份量又足我叫咗杯白桃綠茶幾清新㗎朋友嘅熱姜汁奶佢話甜度剛剛好蒜香台灣腸呢個係我嘅至愛比起生蒜片,我更加鍾意炸脆咗嘅蒜片因為更加之香口台灣腸好香甜,好食!芋泥咸蛋黃蛋餅睇個賣相已經好吸引上面撒咗d紫薯粉,蛋黃碎仲有煉奶味道好豐富咸蛋黃嘅咸香加埋芋泥同練奶嘅香甜芋泥口感亦非常細滑綿密蛋餅皮煙韌Q彈帶蛋香,好好味我哋覺得佢似甜品多啲溏心蛋魯肉飯魯肉肥瘦適中又夠香軟魯水汁夠哂入味香甜非常之下飯,好快就比我清哂嚕朋友叫嘅黑蒜牛肉寬粉絲(另外可以揀刀削麵)我試咗少少,黑蒜味非常香濃惹味又唔會過咸寬粉QQ爽爽咁又唔會過淋,我幾鍾意個口感啱啱好掛住d湯汁一齊食佢上面d炸過嘅松蟲花都好香口 continue reading
