Bostonian Seafood and Grill Serves Up a Trip to Wimbledon at The Langham, Hong Kong
2017-03-29
Drink and dine to win a London holiday and attend The Championships Final Day Celebrating Champagne Lanson’s 40th partnership year with The Championships, Wimbledon, The Langham, Hong Kong is offering a trip to experience the longest-running tennis tournament in the world just by drinking bubbles and enjoying a sweet treat at the Bostonian Seafood and Grill. As one of four annual Grand Slam tennis events held around the globe, Executive Pastry Chef Matthieu Godard introduces a special tennis-themed dessert. He decorates the plate with green coconut shavings to mimic a tennis court which signifies Wimbledon as the only Grand Slam that is played on grass. Taking centre court is his edible tennis ball shaped by a white chocolate shell where the inner core is filled with a light citrus mousse of lemon confit and lemon basil sauce. The dessert packaged with any bottle of Champagne Lanson is the Bubbles and Tennis Treat of Wimbledon where guests have a chance to win a trip to London and attend a final day of the prestigious tennis tournament. From 1 April to 31 May 2017, simply order the package, take a picture for Facebook and Instagram geotag @langhamhk and hashtag #langhamhk, and answer three questions about Wimbledon, Lanson and Langham to enter a lucky draw. Participants who answer all questions correctly will have a chance to win one of three prizes: First prize Two roundtrip economy tickets from Hong Kong to London, two-night stay at The Langham, London and a day pass to a Final Day* of The Championships, Wimbledon 2017 for two. Second prize One-night stay in a Executive Room at The Langham, Hong Kong, including breakfast and full access to The Langham Club lounge for two, and one bottle of Lanson Black Label Champagne upon arrival. Third prize Dining voucher of HK$2,000 at Bostonian Seafood and Grill, and one bottle of Lanson Black Label Champagne. * A final day pass refers to the days holding quarter-finals, semi-finals or finals where tickets are issued by Champagne Lanson. The lucky draw will take place on 2 June 2017 and the prize will be announced on The Langham, Hong Kong Facebook page on 7 June 2017. Since the first tournament back in 1877, The Championships, Wimbledon is a 140 year old sport that is still held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London. This year, the Grand Slam tournament will take place over two weeks from 3 to 16 July 2017. Champagne Lanson has been associated with Wimbledon since 1977, and today is the official Champagne supplier of The Championships, Wimbledon. It is the only Champagne poured throughout the tournament in all nine bars and hospitality marquees on the Wimbledon grounds. Their long-term partnership has made drinking Champagne Lanson a part of the traditional "Wimbledon experience”. The Bostonian Seafood and Grill also plays into the sporting spirit with decorative pieces to mark the world-class competition. The craft brew bar will be adorned with a green bar top and tennis themed cocktail tables, alongside limited edition Champagne Lanson bottles dressed in grass court jackets with the Wimbledon logo. Enjoy the Bubbles and Tennis Treat of Wimbledon where the dessert is priced at HK$88, along with the purchase price of any 750ml or larger bottle of Champagne Lanson at Bostonian Seafood and Grill. While 2016 has been a boring year for restaurant openings, it's the year of re-branding and makeover. Recently, we saw Riva and The Deck successfully transformed into Skye rooftop bar at Park Lane Hotel and Blue Butcher now officially "Blue - Butcher and Meat Specialist". Even Bostonian, the decade-old surf-and-turf resto at Langham Hotel, decided it was time for a facelift. After an extensive two-month makeover, the new-look Bostonian now sports a shipyard chic decor with wooden panel walls, mahogany seats and vintage dark brown sofas. The bar near the entrance of the restaurant added a vintage touch to the vibe. The semi-buffet brunch ($588 on the weekend) features a wide selection of appetizers (mainly salad), luxurious seafood platter, sashimi and made-to-order main course. Free flowing bubbly is additional but non-alcoholic drinks like soft drinks and juices are included in the brunch.Round one - I started things off jumping all over their poached lobster, one of the highlights of the buffet. The foie gras terrine with red wine jelly was very high on my list too. I didn't like the salmon confit (and smoked salmon), which I thought was way over-seasoned. Round 2 - The prawn skewers were nice but a bit oily. I like the tiny little crab legs. Very sweet and meaty. I suggest not wasting time with the baked scallops which were kind of disappointing. There's not a whole lot of places that offer oyster kilpatrick with their weekend brunch so it was a real pleasant surprise that Bostonian does offer it here. However, I wasn't happy with the fact that they stopped refilling it midway through the brunch (more on that later).Braised abalone - this was seriously good. Another pleasant surprise. After several rounds of non-stop seafood, I finally threw in the white towel and started getting ready for my main course but right before that, some complimentary dishes from the kitchen.Porcini soup was not nearly creamy enough and I didn't like the addition of barley there. When I'm having a buffet, the last thing I want was to use up my stomach space for stuff like barley.Baked crab meat with sea urchin - This was much much better. I wish they could provide unlimited supply of these at the buffet counter.Foie gras toast - Not bad but the toast was a little on the hard side.Fast forward to my main course. I had this Dijon mustard-crusted beef mignon with chorizon hash, roasted corn flan and pepper jus. It was done exactly as they were instructed, medium.Dessert was a variety of magnum ice-cream bars in different flavors. Now I want to talk more about this brunch experience..... For the premium price that they were paying, I fully expect all the dishes to be refilled periodically but that was not the case at all. Certain dishes such as the baked oysters were never available except for the start of the brunch (when this photo was taken) and the same goes for other dishes like prawn skewers. There were definitely enough waiting staff to handle a half-full crowd but for whatever reason, my glass was always more than half empty. For about $600 per head, there were plenty of choices for a good weekend brunch in the city. I had pretty lofty expectations coming in for the revamped Bostonian but came away slightly disappointed with their efforts. As the crown jewel of The Langham Hong Kong, I simply expected more. continue reading

送走了The Bostonian,食店換上了新的名字:Bostonian , seafood and grill。 continue reading

We went here for our 2nd anniversary and it was a perfect choice. Food: To start off they gave us a little appetizer.  It's a mini sandwich with cucumber, egg and salmon roe. Also, there is a plate of warm bread. We ordered the seafood tower and fish & chips for our main. The seafood tower itself actually got us already quite full. There's a variety of seafood and my favorite is the Alaskan crab legs, lobster and the oysters. The seafood was very fresh and worth the price. Next, the fish & chips is definitely one of the best in Hong Kong. The fried batter is not oily at all and even for a wannabe health conscious person like me I ate all the fried batter which is a first! It comes with potato wedges and salad which is a great combo. Unlike other restaurants, the fish is cut into 3 pieces already which is easier for sharing. For dessert we got their signature baked alaska. The portion is really big and perfect if you have 4 people. We couldn't even finish it! There's a generous amount of vanilla and raspberry ice cream. This is a must order!! Service: The staff were very friendly and they constantly changed our plate full of seafood shells with new ones.  continue reading
