Got kicked out of this Japanese restaurant 30 min prior to closing at Regal Riverside Hotel in shatin. I had a verified booking thru a website.And they won't honor my booking.The website & this japanese restaurant have an issue to solve. Do not give out coupons and discounts to attract clients if you're going to refuse service because you want to go home and close shop early. Highly unsatisfied by the unprofessional handling of this confirmed reservation.

The only reason I’m giving it an ‘OK’ instead of a ‘Good’ is the considerably poor hygiene in this restaurant. At this price and the fact that they’re located in a hotel, I’d expect cleaner tables and chairs, especially the sofas!!

My husband and I came here for Valentine’s Day where they offered a special set menu. A few things went wrong throughout the night:

1. When we sat down, the manager informed us that there was a slight change to the menu. He said the grilled oyster is now changed to fresh oyster - which was fine with us. However, it turns out that dessert was completely different as well but he failed to inform us. Everyone had a chocolate cake rather than a white chocolate cheesecake.

2. Portions were small. For the sashimi course, we had one whelk to share between the two of us.

3. After our cold appetiser and sashimi course we had to wait 30-45 minutes for the next course. It turns out that everyone had to wait that long too because they were not communicating with the kitchen. I noticed other guests complaining too. In the end, the courses were randomly given out of order - which was stupid because it ended up confusing the waiters more as they don’t remember which tables had eaten which dishes. Also, guests which came after us, ate the main course before us.

4. The waiters in general just had no clue what was going on. They were all running around but nothing effective was accomplished. They constantly delivered food to the wrong table because they don’t remember the table numbers. Miso soups were given to us again even though we still had our miso soup bowls on the table. Towards the end, the staff were not using their brains anymore which was excruciating to watch. One of the staff - which appears to be the manager - was also extremely unprofessional. I overheard one of the guests complaining about the dish and he bursted out laughing. He laughed and was loud when he took the dish back to the kitchen and he was still laughing when he gave the replacement to the couple. I could tell the couple were extremely uncomfortable.

5. The food itself was subpar. One of the dishes that we waited 30 min for was the poached crab in turnip ring. Not sure how it got that name because there was certainly no turnip ring. It was extremely underwhelming with only shreds of crab sprinkled on top of a piece of tofu. They probably only used up one crab leg that night for everyone’s dish. The Angus beef was nice but very undercooked. I’m usually fine with red meat and I like my beef to be medium rare. However, the beef that night was rare.

6. The staff tried to overcharge us for our drinks. The menu clearly states that when ordering two drinks, both drinks will be half price - which is a very confusing way of just saying “buy one get one free”. When we asked for the bill, we noticed they charged us both drinks at full price. We asked about the discount and the waitress informed us that the price was already discounted. It wasn’t until I asked for the menu again, that she went back to look and what appears to “study” the menu. She then proceeded to spend 10 minutes on the cash register to issue us a new receipt with the help of another staff member that also seem unaware of the discount stated. The main problem here is that we were definitely not the first couple to ask for the bill (it was around 9:00pm by then). In fact many had already left before us and some of them did order drinks as well. Yet, the staff only became aware of this discount when we brought it up - which means they most likely overcharged the other couples for their drinks. Without the discount, the drinks were definitely not worth it, so I would be upset if I were the other guests.

Needless to say, I would not recommend anyone to spend their money here. Certainly, there are many cheaper options that will give you better food and a greater dining experience. I would give service 0 stars if I could, but the minimum is 1.

今晚同朋友去晚飯,叫左鲷魚($298)得4片,我即問經理,佢話師父新黎,切薄左,再來4片,魚生有魚鱗,好好笑!跟住叫左燒和牛 ($398),又係得幾片,味道一般!叫左炸蕃薯($118),又係得4片,唔好味!重有個鰻魚飯($188)叫做最正常!我地二人食左$1,1xx! 真係冇下次!好誇張,錢唔係唔比你賺,但太過份!冇下次!呢d餐廳,只可叫$1xx定食!如果唔係,你會同我一樣後悔莫及!我下次不會再幫襯!

見到好評唔多,但帶住小朋友想坐得舒服,所以就試下啦!叫咗個剌身platter ,估唔到咁新鮮!但sushi就麻麻地,一般啦!叫咗個烏冬同吉列豬扒定食,都幾好食。雖然裝修有點舊,但都坐得舒服,食物都叫合格,個剌身無諗過咁新鮮!都係$4xx咋!係甜品差少少,服務都好,非常children friendly 所以食物麻麻但食得開心就覺得好食啦!一家人食到好飽都係一千蚊到,HSBC有discount ,所以我覺得扺食吖!
