continue reading

This contemporary restaurant is located on 25/F of Prince‘s Building in Central, with one of the best views on the rooftop of the building overlooking our beautiful, busy and vibrant city. After stepping out of the lift the staff greets us warmly and leads us past the lounge with the unique 15-feet long vertical garden. We are seated at the Harbourside Dining Room, which has glamorous lighting and many nice pieces of art decorating the walls. Our spacious table is on the window side, facing the terrace with a glimpse of the harbour and the Kowloon night views as background. The overall ambience is chic, cosy and comfortable. We start with Char-Grilled Octopus & Pomelo Salad ($420). The staff has helped to split the dish for us, with the octopus very nicely grilled, with a smoky fragrance, very tender and not rubbery. Coupled with the pomelo to give a bit of sweetness from the fruit and the acid from the dressing, the salad is very appetizing. A good recommendation from the staff.Next, we have Baked Crabmeat in Shell ($520). Again, the staff helps to split the dish for us. The crab shell is stuffed with plenty of fresh crab meat, cooked with some cream sauce with some onion, then coated with crumbs to bake to gorgeous golden-brown crust. On the side is a special sauce that has some curry flavours, recreating a signature East-meet-West cuisine to the best effect. Then comes Signature Roasted Pigeon ($420). The pigeon is beautifully roasted, with the skin crisp while the meat remains moist and juicy. It has been marinated well, very delicious and truly finger-licking good in taste. Paired with a tangerine grapefruit sauce, instead of using knife and fork, just put on the gloves and enjoy it in the most primitive and best way using your hands. Must try.For the main course we have Grilled Dover Sole ($980), freshly flew in from Brittany in France. Of decent size, the fish is seasoned nicely, with the staff helping to pick Meuniere sauce and spinach sauce on the side. Together with some baked potatoes, this is good for two people and another of my recommendations. A great example showing it does not require fancy to make a great dish.Last I have Dark Chocolate Thins, Caramelized Chocolate Mousse, Malt Crunch & Sesame Ice-Cream ($170) for dessert, while my wife goes for The Original Caramel Crunch Cake ($170). The layered chocolate mousse and thins are great in taste, sweet but not excessive. The malt crunch provides a contrasting bite in texture, with the sesame ice-cream balancing with a soft touch.Service is very good, with the staff friendly and helpful in making recommendations, thoughtfully splitting the dish for us. The bill on the night is $3,267 including a bottled water, and two coffees. A bit expensive but considering the quality of the food and overall dining experience it is no surprise the place is packed and remains one of the most popular dining spots in town. continue reading
