This restaurant is a gem! You can tell the owner pours their heart into the food!I was in Cheung Chau for a day of work, and a local recommended a few spots for lunch. I ended up picking this place because the fried egg in their photos looked so tempting. It’s a cozy, no-frills local spot with simple decor. Most of the people there seemed like regulars, not tourists, and the vibe was super chill. When I opened the menu, I legit wanted to try everything! It’s got a mix of Hong Kong-style dishes with some Thai/Southeast Asian flair. They have daily lunch specials that come with a drink, like Thai basil minced pork with fried egg rice, Hong Kong-style curry ribs rice, and more. What caught my eye was the Thai-style chicken rice (kinda like Hainan chicken), red fermented bean curd fried chicken wings with scallion oil noodles, and lemongrass pork chop with fried egg rice. The three of us ordered these dishes. My friend’s Thai-style chicken rice was awesome—the chicken was tender, and the dipping sauce was spot-on. Really solid.I got the red fermented bean curd fried chicken wings with scallion oil noodles, and OMG, the wings were unreal! They’re single-bone wings, which is such a thoughtful touch. The red fermented bean curd flavor was perfectly balanced, and they were fried to crispy perfection, kinda like Taiwanese salt-and-pepper chicken. Zero complaints! The scallion oil noodles were decent, though the noodles were a bit thin and slightly too sweet for my taste—I prefer a saltier kick.My husband’s lemongrass pork chop with fried egg rice? I’d give it 100/100 😭🥹🫶🏼 The fried egg had crispy edges, fully cooked whites (I can’t stand runny whites in sunny-side-up eggs), and a perfectly runny yolk—an absolute masterclass in fried eggs. The sweet soy sauce mixed with the rice was just the right balance of salty and sweet, and the rice grains were perfectly separate, hitting all the basics for a great plate of rice. The lemongrass pork chop? No words. No weird porky smell, perfectly tender, and the lemongrass flavor was out of this world. Everything was served piping hot, like a trip to food heaven 🙌🏼🙏🏽😇.Overall, I’m beyond satisfied! Such a pleasant surprise! The prices are reasonable, and the value is amazing. Every dish was on point, which is why I say the owner has a true passion for food. It’s rare to find a restaurant in Hong Kong these days that puts this much care into every single dish 😭🙏🏽.Thank you so much for such a satisfying, wallet-friendly lunch. I hope you keep this place running for years to come!…Read More
