Accidentally I am having Japanese BBQ buffet for two nights consecutively. This time I have came to CWB "Guts Soul" which has been existed for a long time.REMINDER: This restaurant does NOT provide TEA/WATER. Only 1 can of soft drink (coke/sprite) will be provided for 1 preson!! Three types of sauces were served, bbq sauce, spicy sauce, sesame soya sauce. Before we order, a plate of seafood was served in front of us. There were prawns, clams, mussels, and octopus. Among them, clams had a natural savoury taste with no sands in them. The taste of octopus was just average with a super soft texture. Then a beef platter has brought to us. There were some diced beef and sliced beef. All dishes were served with salad at the bottom. I kind of wish they have some fresh lettuce for us to wrap our meat around. After trying all of them, their beef had a great chewiness to them. Therefore, it's great if you like a bite in your meat. If you wish to have something lighter with less red meat, you may order their tofu, sashimi, or sushi. Their tofu is soft and dressed with sesame sauce, not a bad choice if you are vegetarian or if you like like cold food. We have ordered salmon, tuna, tamago, and abalone sashimi. I think tamago and salmon was not bad, while the abalone was the canned one, which I actually like! LOLSushi was okay with a big piece of topping. The rice was firm with a nice vinegary taste. Compared to the BBQ meat, I really enjoyed my sushi! Beef and reddish soup. It was quite rich in flavour, kind of taste like the one from 'yoshinoya', yet a little bit too oily for me, but my friend liked it! Japanese soft boiled egg. The semi raw egg was put in soya sauce and some seedweed, I ordered it because I like to dip my meat into the egg mixture! Chicken platterWe have actually just ordered 1 serving of wings, I am not sure why they gave us so much (at least 3 whole pieces of chicken wings). Again, they were very light in flavour, almost without seasoning. At last, we have ordered a plate of mixed veggie, they were surprisingly good and delicious, especially the pineapple and zucchini. We even encoured these two things once because they were probably the best thing we have tasted from the restaurant so far!Since I am still hungry, I have ordered beef fried rice. Again, I was in shock how big the serving was. I was just expecting a small bowl of rice to settle my upset stomach. It tasted not bad with a great beef and corn flavour using Japanese pearl rice. The rice was moist yet not too wet. Although, I wish they don't give me so much so that it won't go to waste. Overall, not sure if it's because I like yellow colour, but I found food with yellow colours were the best in the restaurant, including pineapple, corn, soft boil egg, and tamago. Oh, veggies is something not to be missed too! …Read More

Had been waiting for this restaurant to open up for a while, got a text from 3 telecom for a promotion of $158 per head (was originally $238) on Friday so I picked up the phone and called for a reservation. The phone call was totally awkward since the person who picked up didn't mention the name of the restaurant AND he didn't ask for my name and contact number when I made a reseravation for the night, I had to hold him from hanging up to give him such information myself - hah, funny. When we arrived, the waiter mentioned we only had 100 minutes to eat. Three dishes were instantly served - Beef platter, Pork platter, and Seafood platter along with a canned soft drink per head. Beef platter - beef loin, bite-sized angus beef, and USA prime beef roll - the quality of the beef was surprisingly not bad :) but of course not yet a 'Wow'.Pork platter - Premium pork, kyushu premium pork and pork cheeck - nothing sepcial.Seafood platter - prawns, scallops, squid, herbed fish fillet and karafuto-shishamo - the prawns were HUGE and for those scallops, I'd have to say that I never had any confidence in any scallops served outside, especially in all-you-can-eat places, but those scallops here were very impressing indeed!M9 beef - brilliant, I must have to say, it wasn't bad at all, but i can't say that its real M9 beef that they're serving.Wagyu beef roll - rolled with leek and spring onion in the centre, quite delicious too.Ox Tongue - the texture was good, but the greedy act of all-you-can-eat was a little disappointing, they were basically CHOPPED or you can say they were diced :(Assorted vegetables brac congee - urgh, no taste at all, ZERO taste of crab, no thanks.Rice in soup with Salmon - more like 'rice in water with salmon'... -___-sashimi salad - those chopped sashimis were not good. I would rather have the salad with the vegetables and its apple-vinegar dressing alone.salmon sashimi - OK.miso soup - nothing special... I would say it was hot enough when it was served.Beef ribs with turnip in soup - no comment, didn't know what I was drinking.Korean kimchi - sucked.Organic pinapple - best dish in the whole meal! (after that it was grilled) Spicy meat fried eggplant - the taste was not bad, the eggplant was good along with the minced pork, there were loads of minced pork left on the dish when we have dugged and finished all the eggplants - eating the minced pork alone was like spinkling salt on your tongue.Overall, thumbs up for the freshness of the meat and seafood but I would not recommend for people with elders and babies, its too packed and the restaurant was waayyyyyyyyyy too stuffy!!! - $158 great deal for the variety of food to choose from! :)…Read More
