One hot Saturday afternoon, we decided to check out 85 South after seeing an ad for it in a magazine. One person in my party had tried it via catering before, so we were all interested in checking it out. The sun drenched, up-hill trek from the mtr to the restaurant left us all a little tired, but inside the air-con was blasting and there was only one other customer inside. We were able to sit immediately.

Decor:
The decor is ok - very sparse. Concrete floors and walls, with some murals on the walls. There's some large wooden tables and benches to sit on, as well as a small bar area. Each table has a roll of paper towels and a bucket with ketchup and three different types of BBQ sauces. It really reminded me many places I have been to in the US. I only am rating it a three, because to me it seems like there is a lot of untapped potential as the current decorations are very bland and interesting. 

Taste:
The BBQ is cooked in the style of North Carolina. Slow cooked, tender, and full of flavour. There were three different types of sauces available: a more "typical" BBQ sauce (the table favourite), a vinegar-BBQ sauce, and a honey mustard BBQ sauce. We all ordered the pulled pork and the ribs - all extremely tender and flavourful. I highly recommend the pulled pork. The meals also came with coleslaw and thick french fries. The coleslaw has a more sweet, vinegar like taste and I would say it was just ok, but dislike coleslaw in general. Everything else was extremely delicious and left everyone feeling full and happy. 

Service:
The menu was posted on a blackboard at the counter where you order. After we ordered, they brought us our food. One of the workers, who I think was the manager, was extremely friendly. However when we were ordering, there was some confusion with the cashier about substituting a part of our order. We wanted to substitute the coleslaw for some baked-beans, but the cashier finally said we could only substitute the french fries for baked beans. We were confused about we could order, the cashier did help to explain it to us clearly and was unwilling to provide some basic customer service. That was a disappointment, because I was told the baked beans were delicious and I really wanted to try them but the full price for a side was too expensive for one person.  

Value for money:
I feel the price for the meal was fair, but the price for the sides and drinks was too much. The drinks costs $20 for just a can (!!!) and $50 for a side order. They were extremely rigid about what sides we could substitute in a meal, which would cost an extra $20. For one person, $50 is just too much to get a side, especially if you're already ordering a meal. There should be more options about which items in the meal you can substitute. And perhaps some small and large side order options for different prices. 

I highly recommend this restaurant if you want some delicious BBQ.

I came here with three of my friends for a Christmas Eve lunch. We made a reservation for 11:30 (right when they open) but it was unnecessary as we were the first people to arrive at the Cafe.

Atmosphere/decor:
Honestly, the decoration and atmosphere are the best part of Cafe Eos. When you first walk in, its like you're walking into a garden. There are plants everywhere! It's so beautiful and relaxing. They two seating areas: one "indoor" on wooden benches and one "outdoor" was on the closed in balcony. The entire place was lit up with natural light from the glass walls of the balcony. It's small cafe, but it doesn't feel small with all of the light and living plants. This is the type of cafe to go to if you want to have a leisurely and relaxing time.

Service: 
One really nice thing was that one of our friends was an hour late, so we didn't order any food for a long time, but the servers were very nice and didn't rush us at all. All the servers there wore floral scarves in their hair and matching floral aprons that perfectly matched the sweet decor!

Food/Drink:
I ordered the house blend while we waited. My friends and all orderd lunch sets, which each came with a coffee or tea, an entree, and a dessert for a reduced price. I got the tomato spaghetti with escargot and an iced coffee. One friend got the pumpkin risotto with parma ham and milk tea. The two others got pesto angel hair with beef. For dessert, we ordered the pumpkin almond cake and tiramisu

Tomato Spaghetti with Escargot: I really enjoyed it. There was a quite a bit of escargot, so I felt it was very reasonable with the price.  The tomato sauce was a bit too watery, but it still tasted good.

Pumpkin Risotto with Parma Ham: This is very average, but very enjoyable. It was exactly what my friend thought it was going to be. She recommends this dish.

Pesto Angel Hair with Beef: I only tried a bite or two, but according to my friends it was really good. The beef was cut into medallion sized chunks and pretty was pretty tender. The pesto sauce was a bit bland accoridng to them, but pretty standard for Hong Kong so all-in-all enjoyable. They would also recommend this dish. 

Pumpkin Almond Cake: This was a good winter-time dessert. Our only objection was that it would have tasted better if there were almond mixed into the cake instead of just on top. Inside the cake there were also poppy seeds and raisins. I don't know if I would order this again, but that's only because there were a lot of desserts to try. 

Tiramisu: Two of my friends in the group are major tiramisu fans, so obviously we had to order this. It tasted really great and we all enjoyed it. For the price it was actually pretty big. 

Iced Coffee: I'm adding this one because it was SO good. Me and another friend both ordered one. It had the perfect combination of coffee and milk. I absolutely recommend this drink for ice coffee fans. 

Final Verdict: 
We all loved Cafe Eos and we will definitely going back. The price was a little much, but it's fair for the area and definitely worth it for the food and atmosphere. The decorations alone are worth a visit.

They had a whole section Garlic Cheese Bread in the menu that all seemed really good and I'm definitely gonna try next time I visit.

The reviews here seemed pretty good so my friend and I decided to go to Coffee Alley for lunch. As most the reviews mentioned the 60 minute wait, we arrived at 11:30 (thirty minutes before the restaurant opened). When we arrived we were the eigth group in line. At 11:40 there were ten more ables waiting behind us and a few minutes after that the line was going out the door of the building. Luckily Coffee Alley is quite big, so I think most of the people waiting got in immediately once the doors opened. 

Atmosphere/Decor:
It was quite nice inside. Very clean. There is an open air kitchen in the middle, which does take up a lot of space, but it looked very nice. We were seated right next to a huge window, so there was a lot of natural light, at least on our end. 
The decorations were very nice... modern... tasteful... all in all very good. The menu is even designed to look like a newspaper!
The speakers were playing pop music, but at times it seemed too loud combined with all the customers talking. Granted, we were seated right underneath one of the speakers. 

Service:
The service was very average. Nothing particularly good or bad to note. However, one thing that was a bit weird was that all the servers were speaking Mandarin to everyone. I'm Caucasian and my friend is HK Chinese. I spoke in English and she spoke in Cantonese to the servers, but they always responded in Mandarin. It was clear that they understood us, but it was just a bit weird. We even heard the table next to us commenting on this. We think maybe because it's a Taiwanese restaurant? But this is Hong Kong? It wasn't a bad thing, just interesting. 

Food:
I ordered the Smoke Chicken Toast Pizza with Coffee Alley Specialty coffee. My friend ordered the Club Sandwich with Apple Lemon Tea. Then we got the Banana Chocolate Waffle to share.
Once we ordered, we had to wait 45 minutes for our drinks. We were almost through our meal by the time they came. The food came very quickly however.

Smoke Chicken Toast Pizza: The word pizza is very misleading here. It's not a pizza, but more like an open faced sandwich with melted cheese on it. Honestly, pretty disappointing. The chicken was quite peppery, but everything else was very bland. The bread choice for this was not very good. It was too soft on the middle and too crunchy on the crust. It tasted like plain grocery store bread... not something I would ever use in a "pizza." It did come with a scoop of egg salad on some lettuce with dressing. That was a pleasant surprise and it did taste good, but nothing to call home about. 

Club Sandwich: My friend originlly wanted the smoke beef sandwich, but they didn't have that day, so she ordered the promotion which was the club sandwich. It was also disappointing. Pretty standard... it had lettuce, tomato, egg, ham, and chicken. Compared the amount, there was too much bread, even for a club sandwich. My friend said it tasted very bland if there was no chicken in the bite. Also, they included the skin on the chicken? We're pretty sure that's not normal for a club sandwich. It came in three pieces. In the end, she ate two of the pieces and just the chicken from the last piece. This also came with the scoop of egg salad. One weird thing... the promotion advertised that it came with chips. We assumed that meant either french fries or potato chips, but it came with nacho cheese Doritos (sprinkled on top of the sandwich). ????

Coffee Alley Specialty coffee: Very tasty. The coffee itself had a strong flavor that was pretty delicious. The best part though was that it came with some special rock sugar. The sugar was really, really tasty and it really added to the flavor of the coffee. That combined with the great presentation, I really enjoyed drinking it and would recommend it.

Apple Lemon Tea: When it first arrived, we also loved the presentation. It looked very pretty and delicious. The cup had chunks of apple in it and the idea was the pour the tea on top. She actually couldn't tell what type of tea it was, but it tasted like some sort of fruit/flower/herbal blend. It also came with a small jug of what looked and tasted like small apple pieces with some sort of sweet glaze? Since the tea was already sweet on its own, she didn't even use it. It did taste good, but we have no idea where the lemon was incorporated. 

Banana Chocolate Waffle: Most of the other reviews mentioned waffles, so we decided to get one. The one we chose was a waffle cut into four large pieces with a scoop of custard and whipped cream and a scoop of chocolate icecream over banana slices (both fresh and dried) on the side. Also, a small jug of chocolate syrup was included. It was good. The waffle was thick and pretty moist. We enjoyed it a lot, but it's no better than other waffles we've had around Causeway Bay. Since the portion was so large and it came after all our other food, we couldn't finish the waffle.

Final verdict:
This restaurant seems extremely popular from the length of the line. I would reccommend going for waffles and drinks; the sandwiches are not worth it.
My friend and I both felt the drinks were overpriced, but we did enjoy them. It would be much better if there some sort of lunch set or waffle set that made the drinks a bit less expensive.

It all comes down how long you're willing to wait. We only waited 30 minutes, but we arrived before it opened. I'm sure we would have had to wait an hour if we had arrived after. 
We will probably not go back there again. Compared to the wait time and the price, I honestly feel the quality is not that great.  I'm glad I tried it once though.  

I went here for the first time with my entire family (7 adults, no kids) expecting a really great hotdog place. Since I wasn't hungry I ordered some cauliflower soup, a large order of poutine and a toasted marshmallow milkshake. It was horrible.
The service was very disorganized and though there only a few customers ordering at a time, they easily became overwhelmed. I was told I had to wait 10 minutes for my milkshake - no problem. Instead though I waited 30; the cashier didn't even start making the order of smoothies until he got about 15 orders! And at that point he was so backed up, it took an unnecessary amount of time to make each one.
Maybe 5 minutes after I ordered, a mother and her 5 children came to the shop and all ordered hotdogs. My order was extremely simple, but I knew it was only fair for me to wait until all the people who had ordered before me got their food. But when it finally came to my number... he skipped me and started working on the very complicated order of the family behind me! After 35+ minutes of waiting (at this point my entire had already received and eaten their food), I approached the counter and asked him if my order was ready and I gave him my number. The server just looked at me, said "wait a minute" and then continued working on the order after mine! So I decided I would stand there and watch him until he felt pressured enough to give me my order. The complicated order finally finished and the worker STILL ignored me and worked on a ticket two after mine!

Finally I asked the cashier to give me my order now. That's when I saw that the cashier did not even put my tickets in the queue!!!! Finally, the cashier made my order (and it only one minute to prepare).

Cauliflower soup: I could not taste the cauliflower at all. There was so much pepper, that it completely overwhelmed all other flavors. I only only stand a few sips.

Poutine: The fries tasted overcooked. I knew they were because the cook left the fries sitting in the cooking oil a few minutes after I heard the timer the timer went off. The gravy was alright, not bad but nothing spectacular. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they used actually cheese curds on their poutine and not cheese like so many other places in Hong Kong. I ordered the large, but I only received enough gravy and curds for the small order.

Milkshakes: The Toasted Marshmallow milkshake tasted alright, thought honestly not worth the price. Perhaps the other flavors tasted better? Also, another member of my party purchased a Salted Caramel milkshake. After a few sips though, he realized that he was given Toasted Marshmallow instead. He told the cashier, so the cashier took his smoothie, poured caramel drizzle on top and then gave it back. Unbelievable!

On a more positive note, I'm told the hotdogs tasted good and there was a lot of freedom to choose hotdog toppings. Also, the decor was nice and the restaurant seemed clean enough. However, I only recommend going to eat there if you have a hours to spare and if you don't horrible service. As for me, I will never be going back to Yonge Piggies.
