Tulsi is located in a random local mall in Quarry Bay. If it wasn't for my coworker taking me for the first time, I would not have come across this place by myself since it is not situated outside on the street. The restaurant was decent in size with many tables but the spacing between tables can be a tight squeeze especially during lunch crowds. The service was not friendly from the start when we requested to sit at another table instead the space where the waiter wanted to squeeze us into beca
We turned our attention to the lunch menu which was pretty reasonable in price from $58 for the Quick Set Lunch and $70 for the Indian Treats set. We ended up ordering one from each menu. Mango Lassi - the mango lassi was pretty good as the yogurt flavor was strong so it was not too sweet. I couldn't figure out what the red coloring is though. Masala Tea - the masala tea was also pretty decent with an apparent flavor of cardamom and other spices. Soup of the Day - the soup was tomato-based with spices added so it was quite spicy, which I liked! Chicken Tikka Makhani - the curry was not what I expected as it was quite liquid and runny. I thought the curry would be creamier like butter chicken, which is sometimes called chicken makhani in other restarants. I don't think the sauce was tomato-based either. The chicken was pretty tender though. It wasn't bad but I prefer a thicker and creamier curry so I can dip my naan into it. Naan - the naan was soft and not oily at all. It was nicely cooked but I think it was too soft as it got mushy pretty quickly when I dipped it into the curry. Non-Veg Indian Bento - the non-vegetarian bento had a variety of curry, rice, naan, and papadams. One of the curry was the chicken tikka makhani while the others were fish and vegetables. They were all decent but nothing spectacular about it that I want to go back for. Overall, I think the food is decent but probably just not for my taste as I prefer creamier curries. I think the service has room to improve though as we were given attitude from the moment we stepped in to when we placed our orders. Nothing spoils a dining experience quicker than that.
