There are some places I eat at that I find so special that selfish me thinks to myself ... should I write a review and share my wondeful find or should I keep this secret to myself. This is one of those places.I discovered this place one evening when boyfriend and I were walking in the area seeing if there was anything new that opened. We looked at the menu and I saw some people having tea and wagashi. I made a note to myself to visit it in the near future. And that near future was the very next
I discovered this place one evening when boyfriend and I were walking in the area seeing if there was anything new that opened. We looked at the menu and I saw some people having tea and wagashi. I made a note to myself to visit it in the near future.
And that near future was the very next day! I got off work and made a beeline there. I was that excited to try it.
Shari Shari Kakigori House is located in my favorite area of Causeway Bay, Haven Street. It's a tiny shop that has very simple wooden layout. Simple chairs and tables. Kawaii plants are found at the window. Menu is in on a simple wooden clipboard. It is in English and Chinese. They serve various Japanese shaved ice and Japanese matcha tea sets served with either a wagashi or souffle cake. They have one Cantonese speaking staff but the place is owned by a very friendly, Japanese man who speaks excellent English. You order and pay later. There is no 10% service charge. Wagashi Set ($47). As I love LOVE wagashi, I had to order this. It's so rare to find a place in Hong Kong that serves this. I always buy a box for myself when I go to Japan and when I have a craving, I buy it at Sogo. So, now I can have it here! The set includes one wagashi and one bowl of whisked matcha tea. All daintly served on a wooden serving tray.
