Satay King is a popular chain of restaurants in Hong Kong that serves "Malaysian/Singapore" cuisine. But now they also have pasta and pasta, too. I guess, if you really want to get down to it, it's basically a cha chan teng disguised in a Pirates of the Caribbean theme serving a mish mash of anything that is popular.

On this day, boyfriend and I realized we haven't been in here in a long while and he was craving their white curry pork chop rice. So, here we are.

Menu is in English and Chinese with plenty of photos. Seating is fairly comfortable and the decor is a mix between a pirate ship and pseudo Mexico. Some branches even have a life size Obama figure sitting on a bench. But the Causeway Branch doesn't have something that amusing. They have a button system on every table to press if you want water, to order, get a bill or just plain help. Be sure to press the correct button or the wrong service will come your way. Unfortunately, the buttons are all in Chinese. This was odd as in the past the buttons used to be in English and Chinese but I guess they did renovations.

Baked Risoni with Shrimp in Cream Tomato Sauce ($69). This was what I ordered and it was pretty good. The sauce was creamy as described and tomato sauce was pretty decent. The risoni was cooked well and I liked it a lot though portions was huge and I couldn't really finish. They not only had big pieces of shrimp but it also had some slices of Vietnamese sausage.

Lemongrass Pork Chop in White Curry with Rice ($53). This is what boyfriend ordered and what he claimed is the only thing to order when at Satay King. I liked it enough. It wasn't too spicy but the white curry sauce was fragrant with a lot of coconut. The lemongrass pork chop was fried perfectly. The rice, unfortunately, was mushy and overcooked.

Fried Soft Shell Crab with Spicy Garlic ($64). Another item that is often ordered when we come here. The crab was crispy and soft. The spicy garlic was a bit spicy but too much.

Fried Squid Cakes ($38). This was a new item. We noticed there was a number of new items such as pizza, Cajun chicken wings and this. We decided to try them out. These were horrible. Way too much flour batter and hardly any squid. It just tasted like fried flour. There was so much flour, it was chewy and stretchy and felt more like eating mochi. Just horrible. Do not try this new item.

After we paid, we were given a bunch of $2 coupons for next time. Satay King is like that. For every time you eat there, they give a bunch of $2 coupons for discount next time.

They also gave us a mini bottle of their own branded XO sauce. I haven't tried it. It's in my fridge.

Everything came out to $250 as there is 10% service charge added. Pretty inexpensive and yeah ... we were full.
