Cruising around Wan Chai that evening with my bf, was gonna join another gf for dinner together and spotted this place in the midst of street stalls... seems interesting so we gave it a try! There's outdoor seating and indoor seating with air con, the outdoor tables were taken already so we sat at a booth table. The owner told us if we checked in on FB and click like we will get unlimited free soda WOW!!! We did check in and clicked like but we are all beeroholics so none of us had enjoyed the fr
There's outdoor seating and indoor seating with air con, the outdoor tables were taken already so we sat at a booth table. The owner told us if we checked in on FB and click like we will get unlimited free soda WOW!!! We did check in and clicked like but we are all beeroholics so none of us had enjoyed the free soda privilege ;p
The owner (he's also the chef!) asked if there's anything we DONT eat, we said no, and he offered to bring us the best choices of the night.
OK, bring it on!!!
We had oysters, opened in front of us, so fresh and chilled and I can taste the fresh sea water in it!!!
Then we had grilled prawns, grilled ox tongue (the thick cut, MUST EAT!!!), grilled 'chicken leg mushroom' (very juicy!), angus beef cubes (SO GOOD that we had to order a 2nd round), taiwanese sausage, tomatoes wrapped in thin cut of pork belly, chicken gizzard, chicken 'soft bones', chicken skin (not the usual type you get elsewhere on a skewer, here they make it comlpetely FLAT and very CRISPY, and also grilled 'tsui yuk gwa' sorry dont know the proper english name for this kind of melon... chinese 'choi-sum' hahahahahaahhaahah never can imagined you can cook choi sum this way on a skewer but it was YUMMY!!! And also foie gras with pineapple garnish, lamb shank, and baby sweet potatoes. The chef said that you dont need to peel off the skin to eat it and he also gave us some sea salt on the side for the sweet potatoes. I aint a big fan of sweet potatoes but this is so good and tender and by adding the sea salt to it, heaven. Lastly, we had the botan shrimp sashimi (SO SWEET!!!) and the chef came collected the heads for grilling and it tasted just like if you deep fried it, only without the oil = healthier.
The owner is very busy that night (cos he's the chef also) but he still managed to come over and chat with us, and checked on how we like our food or not and if there's any other things that we'd need. Service is attentive and both the owner and his staff are very funny and sociable. The owner said this restaurant is run by another owner during day time and they serve normal 'cha charn tang' style breakfast and lunch until 6pm. Then they take over the restaurant and start to prepare for Grill Station, which opens for dinner from 730pm until late.
I love this place and I am already missing the oysters + ox tongue + angus beef cubes + chicken skin + well actually ALL OF THE FOOD!!! For sure will go again very very soon!!!
