Wanted to check this place out since it has several good reviews, and I had been searching for a tasty local place for beef brisket. The restaurant has been renovated to look like a old-school HK teahouse. Wanted to check this place out since it has several good reviews, and I had been searching for a tasty local place for beef brisket.

The restaurant has been renovated to look like a old-school HK teahouse. Some pictures of colonial HK decorate the walls, and as we sat down at clean, teahouse themed wood-grained table with matching stools, I knew that we would be paying a premium to dine here.

The signature beef brisket noodles started from $38 for a small bowl. The bowl comes with silky rice noodles in a clear broth, and about 3 chunky sliced beef brisket. The broth is light with a subtle taste of the beef brisket stewing sauce. There is an average serving of noodles in the small bowl, but in my opinion the serving size borders on lean. I must admit that the brisket is melt-in-mouth; these guys sure know how to make a good brisket, but the 3 chunks that came in one bowl was not really enough.

I had ordered the brisket plus stomach noodles, at $47. Which is a bit much if you ask me, as the only difference between my bowl and the small bowl of signature beef brisket noodles were two average-sized pieces of beef stomach. So that would make it $4.50 for one piece of beef stomach?! It was very nice beef stomach, nice and tender, however, I will not be paying this price again as it is completely unreasonable. And this is not even factoring in the 10% service charge that they add to your bill.

This restaurant serves up good brisket, but unfortunately you will pay a high price for it. It is not good value for money, but would be suitable for tourists in the area who want to experience a bit of old-style HK whimsy, and don't mind paying through the nose for it. For locals, best to look elsewhere, like across the street and around the temple street markets where there are PLENTY of other cheap and cheerful stores serving up the same thing at half the price (though maybe with a little bit more MSG).
題外話/補充資料: There is a 10% service charge.
