As Chinese New Year was approaching, our family decided to eat out for the annual 團年飯. As Chinese New Year was approaching, our family decided to eat out for the annual 團年飯. Despite the so-called financial tsunami recently, a lot of good restaurants were fully booked weeks in advance on the busy 24 Jan (Sat) dinning schedule.

Since we would like to try something new, we decided to have Hak Ka cuisine after reading the reviews from this site. So we booked this restaurant more than 2 weeks in advance. Like most of the restaurants in Hong Kong for busy seasons, we understood that they were going to have 2 rounds of dinning schedule. So we chose the first round for a table of 9 persons and told them that we will arrive at 6:45 instead of 6:30 when they start the first seating.

However, it was a cold day and everyone anticipated that evening would be about 14C. The same arrival message was communicated again on that morning when a lady phoned to confirm our booking. She did not mention anything about their restaurant has outdoor tables. But when we arrived at 6:40, the lady said that we were late (what a bad excuse as they started at 6:30
) and no indoor tables left! Their outdoor seating was cold and without any heater.

She was just saying that they do not have any other tables and nothing can be done as we were late!!! What kind of deceive service in this place
! Can she explain their limited number of tables and let us decide whether to take it when confirming the table by telephone? Even their manageress ignored our complaint. Will they be responsible to our old parents and young children to catch a cold or fever after eating there!

Luckily, there are many other good restaurants at that building and we were lucky to find a place at 東海海鮮酒家(宴會廳) East Ocean Seafood Restaurant downstairs. Despite the nearly full house serving, their service was excellent and very helpful as well as their food was super. I should thank you Hak Ka Hut for such bad service
. Otherwise, we cannot have such an enjoyable dinner at 東海.
