It has been a while not visiting pumpernickel in Tin Hau on Saturday, cos it is always full house during lunch hour from noon to 2pm, reservation is required. Lucky this Saturday because of the typhoon effect, I am able to walk-in and enjoy a splendid lunch. Angus Beef sandwich is one of the signature, you can replce the baguette (a long, narrow loaf with a very crusty, amber-colored outside) to your preference choice. I picked focaccia (A rich, thick Italian snack bread. Olive oil is brushed over the dough prior to baking, to retain moisture). the angus beef is a thin slice, thinner than my last visit (I cannot even "eye it in the sandwich"), yet still tasteful combine with tomatoes, slice cabbage and home-made sauce.
The quality of fresh brewed coffee is outstanding. Strong aroma and right temperature. One sip I am almost flying in the air. The pairing of a piece of fresh cake (blueberry cheese cake, cream carrot cake, chestnut cake and chocolate mousses) is almost make my day full of joy and energy. I am in a dilemma making my decision between carrot cake and chestnut cake, both are fresh. In view of my diet and believe the carrot cake is less sweet and calorie, I save the chestnut cake for next visit.
Pumpernickel - Tin Hau store is the first store and has been there over 10 years, lately they removed the piano in the store and give extra space for visitors. I like visiting Tin Hau rather than the store in Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay in terms of environment, and food quality.

if pumpernickel is full house, no harm visiting next store - Shanghai lane (上海弄堂), also one of my favorites.
