The tiny burger restaurant on a busy Sham Shui Po street does not look special at first sight, but it is. The menu consists of burgers only, and some side dishes like salad or fries. There is just a few seats and a narrow plank and the space is open to busy street, which makes it a dusty and noisy place.

I have ordered the blue cheese burger. It was one of the best burgers in the given category I have had in Hong Kong (fast food, below 100 HK$). The burger patty was juicy and excellent, comparable to food that costs a multiple of the price in restaurants. The bun was quite large compared to the patty, but I did not mind, as it meant it could soak in more of the juice coming out of the hamburger. Fried were a bit over-fried and did not stand out in any way.

I decided to eat the burger right there. The small plank that served as a table had grease on it, probably some previous burger juice. At least there were enough tissues at hand to wipe it clean, but if I hadn't been cautious, the grease could have as well ended up on my sleeve.

Even though the dine-in experience had it's issues, the burger was really good. Maybe take-away is a better option here.

The place is small with a row of seats facing one wall, but it's comfortable and clean enough to dine in if one does not want to take out. The door insulates well enough from the street noise, and the ambience of bright yellow walls and brown table is rounded up by a playlist of US/Europe classic rock-pop songs.

The menu consists of different combinations of hamburgers, from the classic with a beef patty (plus cheese, egg, etc.) to more special like the kimchi pork burger or double fish burger (salmon and tuna), but they also have pasta and snacks like chicken wings.

I opted for the "Classic Cheese Burger" (patty, cheese, salad, mayo). The patty was medium done and very juicy. The hamburger It came with fresh greens, and a slice of standard processed cheese. I could taste is has just been freshly made. The fries tasted good too, seasoned with a salt-herb mixture.

Overall it was a pleasant experience and I can recommend it if you are in the area.

It's a nice place with a view of Victoria Harbour from the Kowloon side. During my visit a live amplified band played a medley of pop songs. A bit too loud for my taste, but still bearable.

I visited on a weekday after dinner for a short relaxing chat over desert. We had the ice cream hamburger (hong kong version) and tea (dongding wulong).  The ice cream which indeed looked like a burger was very special in its looks and worth to order once just for the look of it. The most prominent tastes I remember was the chestnut past and vanilla ice with rum-soaked raisins. It was accompanied by mini-churros that looked like french fries and a rasbperry dip that looked like ketchup. Everything was very sweet, a bit too much for me, but it would go well with a coffee or tea. The taste of the tea I ordered was average, but it went well with the ice-cream.

The service was very nice. The order arrived fast and the waiter was always around, not too intrusive, but available, adding hot water numerous times, without needing to ask.

I was happy to see some Czech beers in Hong Kong, the Pilsen and dark Kozel tasted good as expected. We went for dinner and ordered Goat Cheese Salad, Beer Grazed Beef Short Rib With baby onion & green beans (same as the previous reviewer), Slow Baked Duck Leg with red cabbage (both dishes with vegetables and duplings).

The salad was fresh and the three pieces of goat cheese that were present were grilled and warm, slightly melting on three small baguette slices. It was good.

The beef short rib was large, more than expected - a positive first surprise - however after tasting it, I found it too soft. In the local context - Hongkong locals like this supersoft meat melting on one's tongue - yet I am always a bit suspicious about this softness, as I assume some special chemistry or technology behind it. In Europe, the meat is rarely as soft as this, and Europeans would not like it this soft.

The duck leg had at least a crunchy crust/skin on the outside, quite tasty, but below it, it was once again a very very soft meat, similar as the rib. The texture was much softer then I would like it. The skin/crust resembled more the Chinese barbecue (siu mei) - crunchy, but with some fat under the skin. If it was really slow baked, the skin should be very thin and paper-like, but it wasn't. So in the end, I had a feeling this was something between Chinese barbecue and the European dish.

Both dishes came with vegetables: Boiled green beans were on the crunchy side, tasting good. The pickled red cabbage was good, probably a canned product from Germany, so nothing could go wrong here. I did not understand why the pickled mini-onions have been cooked/boiled again, as it made them tasteless and soft-ish, but that was a minor thing.

Both dishes also came with dumplings. One kind of dumpling was a bit more thick, maybe made with some potatoe powder. It was slightly moist inside and relatively tasty. The other kind of dumpling was a more light and fluffy, and that was disastrous - it tasted exactly like an steamed chinese bun (baozi) cut into slices and dried out after lying around for one day. It was sweet. A European dumpling should actually be boiled and not steamed, and it should not be sweet.

So overall I found it a gread place for having a good beer with some snack platter, but the food did not convice me. If you are Asian, you will probably be satisfied by the asianised version of European food. Can the restaurant be blamed for adjusting its cuisine to the majority of local customer's tastes? Probably not, in the end, it's a business. I can just conclude, come here for genuine Czech beer, but don't expect genuine Czech food.

I happened to be in Fanling during lunchtime, so I stopped by this place by chance. I came in just around 12pm, it was not so full, about 30%, as one person I sat at the 'bar' table lining the kitchen area. The waiter came to me quickly, I ordered ramen with sukiyaki beef and a soft drink. I could observe the chef as he was working on my, as well as other, orders. A few minutes passed and the bowl of steaming ramen has been placed infront of me.

I found the noodles tasty and better than the usual thing at shopping mall food courts or chain restaurants like Ajisen ramen. I even had a few spoons of the soup, which was not as over-salted and over-spiced as in many other cases. I ordered the 'middle' size bowl (they only have two options: small or middle, no big), which was just about  right for me, but if I was really hungry, it could have been bigger. Also, comparing the size to the price, it is not that cheap. Maybe a bit better quality.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant, which had a kind of homey feel compared to the overcrowded chain restaurant atmosphere. It seemed that it is run by a family - there was an older guy, two older ladies and one younger lady as a waiter. There was a bookshelf/library with japanse comics for decoration, and they really played jazz music, which was a nice change. I can imagine that my impression could have been quite different if the restaurant was packed with people, but it wasn't ... so I can recommend it, if you don't mind the slightly higher price.

I came back to this place after a longer pause, it has been almost two years. The service is friendly and quick. I had no special memories of the food from two years ago, but I remembered it was 'ok'. 

This time we ordered Chili Nachos and then a Combo Fajita, together with some beers. The Chili Nachos were acceptable, they came in a big portion, with pieces of juicy beef and a load of cheese on top. But the Fajita (we opted for Salmon and Chicken) was really discusting. The chicken tasted like plastic and I wondered if it was chicken at all or just some flavoured pressed tofu substitute. The salmon came in little crumbling pieces which looked like pieces left over after cutting sushi. All of that had a weirdly mysterious taste of too many spices mixed together.

I don't understand how someone can call this the 'best mexican restaurant in Hong Kong' if this is the case then I feel trully sorry for Hong Kong. But it is not a place to stay away completely either. You can stuff yourself for quite a reasonable price, that's the good point. My lesson learnt from this time: Stay away from the Fajitas or anything else with Chicken in it.
