We came to try out this buffet at the new Crowne Plaza Hotel in Happy Valley. The restaurant is bright and spacious and decorated like a 4 star hotel coffee shop. First tour of the food did not give a very exciting impression. Things looked a bit mediocre. Not too much I fancied.

There were crab legs and the label said Canadian crab legs, so not Japanese and not Alaskan. I took 2 and they tasted of salty water and thawed frozen crab. I decided to not spend any more time on these.

The salad selection didn't look enticing but the soups were quite good. Both the clam chowder and the Chinese soup, so I had a small bowl of each.

The sushi selection had a very Hong Kong feel, so again, not worth trying.

There was a good selection of hot main courses but not thought out too well. There was a curry seafood but no plain rice or any Indian breads to go with it. Even reviewing the meal is boring me now. The noodle station was fine and they said the special noodle of the day was Dan Dan noodles and I had a bowl which was satisfying. The noodles were not too soft or overcooked and the Dan Dan paste had a fragrant peanut smell.

Maybe the only section to credit was the dessert station. This is where I took the last photo and was told no photography allowed. The manager of the restaurant was polite enough though. Desserts were nicely laid out with a good selection. I was told both the Black Forest cake and Chestnut cakes were very good. I tried a lychee jelly mixture which I liked. And there was a good selection of Movenpick ice cream too.

I guess when you go to a buffet, it's either very good with lots of dishes you want to eat or are well presented or it is a very good value and you are not expecting much. This is a neither nor place and so to me not really worth going back to. Have to say the staff tried very hard though and it may be a chicken and egg situation, there were not many customers, so they could not justify better or more dishes. More promotions of the hotel and its restaurants may help.

When we asked for the bill, we were pleasantly surprised that they offered a 20% off on the bill.

阿拉斯加長腳蟹 + 燒牛肉+咖喱

今天母親生日，聽聞這家自助餐11月1開張，所以全家來試試

魚生：新鮮太不太肥美
阿拉斯加長腳蟹 ：很鮮味，很好
燒牛肉 ：普普通通
咖喱 ： 標籤 說是羊肉，但其實是雞肉…味道不錯
甜品：選擇不多，不太甜，尚算可以
雪榚：是 Movenpick的出品，除了阿拉斯加長腳蟹以外的推介

到點咖啡茶時，侍應竟然聽了一半order才驚覺自己應該記不到9杯飲品，要到櫃台拿紙筆記低。實在有點失策。

總括來說在銅鑼灣找到二百零元的酒店自助餐是一大驚喜，但仍有很大的改善空間

Sashimi - Fresh but not in a very good quality.
For the Jumbo scallops, the Chef said that it's not available during lunch, only available during dinner, however, I saw others (incl. my friends) got some. Disappointed, because I saw some comment from others website, scallops is available.

Crab Legs - it's the best of the dish (small size but tasty)

Desserts - Not so many choices but taste is okay

Ice Cream - Yummy !! Especially Vanilla favor (I'm not vanilla fans)

Tomoto Soups - so so

Hot dishes - Not so many choices. Not attractive compared with other foods.

The quality of the Chefs & waiters is not 5 stars standard & the food is not filled up immediately

Overall, it's not too bad for around HK$200- lunch but may not go again

Sashimi - Fresh. Impressed by Jumbo scallops and yellowtail. Yellowtail is not commonly available in other places. Yeah !!

BBQ Beef - Acceptable. The chef asked me how well-done I prefered. e.g. medium, medium rare.....appreciated !!

BBQ Pork - Fat/meat ratio is perfect. Better than Tai Hing !!!

Crab Legs - Two kinds (Alaska and Canada). Both are beefy and have sea water taste.
Strongly recommend Alaska !!

Clams and mussels - Jumbo clams are impressive.

Desserts - Not so many choices but taste is okay (not sweety).

Ice Cream - Swiss Movenpick's. Yummy !!

Tomoto Soups - Real taste. Good !!

Hot dishes - Not so many choices. Not attractive compared with other foods.
