This is likely the only Indian restaurant in an otherwise modestly busy side neighborhood dotted primarily with Thai restaurants. Based upon all the great reviews, we decided to check it out and journeyed from Central up here via the 101 bus.

It's a small place, dark and likely a few years past it's prime and definitely in need of a renovation. We wandered nearly to the kitchen before the 2 wait staff recognized us to be seated. It would seem this is a popular place where groups do indeed book tables and most of our visit the staff was busy moving tables around. In this small a restaurant it quickly got to be a McDonald's experience (not good). The clientele is mostly local HK'ers and likely those from the neighborhood.

We received some papadums that had clearly been over cooked, the sauces arrived a few minutes later for some reason and only after we asked.

We ordered a traditional masala papadum which is basically a papadum with an assortment of spices and condiment a toppings (looking a little like a pizza). It was decent but nothing special.

We ordered two mains and a plain naan bread. The first main was an okra (also known as Bhindi) masala. Nicely presented and a decent quantity for sharing, well flavored and hot, I wouldn't deem it best in class, but still acceptable. Next out was a vegetarian curry and it had similar attributes, decent but not great or exceptional. The naan was freshly made and hot.

The biggest negative was the tight space and seeming popularity is likely to make for a chaotic dining experience (only 3 tables were occupied while we were there but the staff was already frustrated). They seated a family temporarily at a nearby table and loudly informed them that we were leaving soon and to wait. Clearly a push to get us out.

We got out and aren't likely to return. Sorry, this restaurant isn't deserving of the seemingly good Openrice rating it has. There are much better choices in TST and closer (Tandoori Nights for example).

My family of 5 had a dinner at this Indian Restaurant. I heard of some good references before we came here.

My husband loved Tandoori Chicken and the dish was of perfect taste. We tried plain Nan & cheese Nan, both were served hot and fresh.

The 'entre' of steamed dumpling was very much like Chinese dumpling though the sauce coming with it was very Indian like. The curry puff was delicious too.

Overall we were very pleased with the food because they were all served hot and fresh. The service was very good too. It was a small restaurant with only 10 tables therefore booking on weekends are required.

We certainly will come back again.

係九龍城要食個唔貴嘅素午餐唔係咁易搵
間中會幫襯呢間係城南道嘅印度餐廳買外賣午餐~今日要左兩份雜菜咖喱+印度烤餅(naan)
要左VERY spicy 女朋友話辣到食唔到,下次都係小辣就夠~
咖喱味道好好,非常正宗,烤餅夠新鮮~睇落好似無乜菜,其實都幾大盒,有時午餐兩個人食一盒,留番一盒夜晚加料煮十穀飯~
之前同朋友食過堂食,佢地話d肉類都好有水準~
而且價錢好平,雜菜咖喱+印度烤餅+一罐飲品都係$28(好耐無加價),我每次都會要Ginger Alelol

在九龍城這個食肆林立的地區,泰國菜館多不勝數,火鍋店、甜品店也愈開愈多,但區內的印度菜餐廳,則只得這獨一無二的一間shockedshocked。不過別少覷這間門面以藍白兩色為主調,但並不太起眼的小館子,網上的好評可真不少。這一夜,我的晚餐正是在這裡享用。

 
來到的時候才剛晚上六時多,小小的店子裡仍未有其他客人,空調還未開,我與老婆仔兩個正是這個晚上這間館子的首兩位食客lolmad。店內燈光偏暗,陳設也樸實無華,店內的老闆和侍應全是只是稍懂廣東話的印巴籍人士,可見店子的確頗為地道。

 
先來的是免費奉客的「胡椒脆片」,值得一提的是附上的三款蘸脆片吃的醬料,分別是紅色的「酸蘿蔔」、青綠色的「薄荷醬」和茶褐色的「酸辣醬」,各有特色,喜辣的可蘸「酸辣醬」,愛薄荷的清新味道的可揀「薄荷醬」,喜歡「酸蘿蔔」的爽脆口感的可放「酸蘿蔔」在脆片上吃,總之各適其式,「想點就點mad,脆卜卜而帶點辣勁的「胡椒脆片」確是挺開胃的lol,難怪我在吃罷第一輪脆片後都主動問店子老闆多取一碟脆片來吃啦mad

 

 
聽說這兒的「印度咖喱角」水準不錯,決定叫來一客試試。這兒的咖喱角有兩種餡料,一種是羊肉餡,一種則是雜菜餡,羊肉餡的咖喱角比雜菜餡的只貴數元而已,不過這天我們還是叫來了雜菜餡的一試它的水準。不多時,三大隻圓鼓鼓,熱辣辣的咖喱角已經上桌,用刀叉把咖喱角切開,裡面的熱氣立刻冒湧出來,吃上一口,熱辣辣的薯仔青豆餡料充塞在整個口腔中,教人感覺到咖喱餡料中的既熱且辣的味道,感覺殊佳smile

 

 
兩道主菜分別是「印度香料雞」與「白汁時菜」。因為我倆只是叫了小辣的關係,「印度香料雞」味道只是微辣,而且還帶點兒酸,挺開胃的。雞塊雖不太多,香料味也不是太濃,都算可以。

 
白汁時菜」的白汁並非西餐中的白汁,呈奶白色的印度白汁味道甜甜的,雖不是甚麼美味,都幾得意。時菜雖只是豆角、椰菜花、蕃茄等尋常蔬菜,也正好作為咖喱雞的調劑。

 
吃印度咖喱,Nan 烤餅當然少不得,把軟身的 Nan 烤餅蘸些咖喱汁放進肚子,確是既滋味又飽肚smile

 
飲品叫來了喜愛的印度「甜酸乳Sweet Lassi,微甜的酸乳飲品,跟 Nan 烤餅一樣,都是吃咖喱的好拍檔smile

 
甜品叫來了「印度雪糕」。這本為長條形,但早已切成數份的雪糕充滿濃郁的奶味,下了果仁的雪糕為滑溜的雪糕增添另類的口感,番紅花也為奶黃色的雪糕添上一抹豔紅的色彩。整道雪糕給人的感覺蠻討好的tonguetongue

 
最後附上的是以雕花黃銅碟子盛載的類似雀粟和白糖碎塊的東西,以便客人在吃過濃味的咖喱後可以清新口氣。可惜我不是印度人,雖有入鄉隨俗地把一些東西放進口腔,卻完全未能欣賞它們的口感和味道,勉強把第一口咀嚼吞下後,便已完全提不起興趣再舀第二口了sadsad

 
這間水準不俗的印度菜館開在泰菜重鎮的九龍城區,我覺得既有利亦有弊,利的是它在整個區內應為獨市生意,教來到這區而又想吃一頓印度菜的人自然而言地會想到它smile。但弊的卻是來九龍城區找吃的人通常只會吃泰菜、中菜甚至西餐,特地來吃印度菜的客人相信不會太多,要是想吃印度咖喱的話,在九龍區第一個想到的相信都會是尖沙咀重慶大廈吧!也所以,這間印度菜館難免會有被人忽略的風險shocked。幸好這間「正宗印度菜館」的食物確有一定的水準,服務也佳,否則的話,恐怕便未必能站夠得住腳了。

We were walking around Kowloon City in order to try a new Thai restaurant (other than just Cambo - which is very good by the way). We couldn't make up our minds even after walking through all the main streets. We spotted this interesting looking Indian restaurant and immediately decided to check it on OpenRice. 65 smile and just a couple of sad - worth a try!

The setting was typical of small homey type of Indian restaurants. Simple decoration mainly in blue and quite a lot of small tables. The rattan chairs were a bit old but quite comfy.

We were very lucky to be there at about 6:30 p.m. as it became very busy very quickly. Booking is strongly recommended.

The menu was pretty comprehensive. It's in English and Chinese and filled with photographs of the dishes, which was extremely helpful. smileI find verbal descriptions of curries in English or Chinese usually less than informative. tongue

We were served with Poppadoms first. Poppadoms are standard appetizers in any Indian restaurant. One for each customer with three different types of sauces. Mint, Tamarind and Chilli. Also standard and authentic.

It took my wife quite a while to go through the Menu (Indian cuisines are not too well known in Japan). So my wife ordered a Lassi, a typical yogurt drink from India, and I ordered a Kingfisher beer first. Believe it or not, Kingfisher is really an original beer brewed in India since the end of the 19th century.

We eventually decided to order:

Mild prawn curry;
Spinach puree with cheese;
Lamb Vindaloo; and
one Butter Naan and one Garlic Naan to go with the curries.

We also ordered a bottle of red wine ($270) - Beaujolais, which usually goes well with curries and meat.

As I ordered the vindaloo, the boss smiled deviously and told me, "This is quite hot." shocked At this juncture, I was seriously thinking whether I should order something different. However, my competitive side got the better of me and told me to stick with it. So I did.

The Spinach puree with cheese also tasted authentic and healthy even. It's authentic Indian but you won't find a direct comparison in Chinese cuisines so those who are not used to Indian cuisine may find the texture strange. Anyway, it's good stuff. The cheese was also interesting. I can't put my finger on what type of cheese it was. Probably goat cheese but don't worry, it doesn't taste as strong as normal blue cheese. It's dry inside. In fact, the cheese doesn't taste much but was quite filling. Also recommended.

The Mild prawn curry were, well, mild, as well as creamy and delicious. The prawns were quite firm and fresh. My wife liked it a lot. This is recommended.

The Lamb Vindaloo, the red dish in the photo, was really pretty hot. The chilli taste stays in your mouth for at least 15 minutes. shocked Luckily I had the red wine to neutralized the taste a bit. The lamb was OK (the sauce was quite hot so I couldn't really taste much of the lamb anyway). tongue

The boss asked whether everything was OK at this juncture and I told him everything was great, while wiping the sweat off my forehead! smile

Both Naan breads were very delicious. It seemed pretty freshly made and were quite aromatic. Always an excellent companion to curries.

This came at the very end and was quite a surprise:

One was supposed to put a spoonful of cane sugar as well as the cumin seed and mint on your palm with the spoon provided and then eat it. It clears your breath completely and immediately! Excellent!

The service was very good. Everyone was friendly and polite as well as efficient. Reasonable price - similar to the restaurants in Chung King Mansion. Recommended.

P.S. A table was reserved for 4 persons at 7:30. Since the customers did not show up, the boss finally phoned the customer at about 7:40 p.m. and politely reminded him/her of the booking and to see whether they would attend. The boss apparently repeated what he was told on the phone, "...You attended yesterday already?" shocked Well, he just apologized for disturbing the customer and got on with it.

He did not curse under his breath or shout at any staff (at least not in front of customers). Imagine what would happen if this happened in a Chinese restaurant? Cultural differences? tongue

本來到九龍城想食雞煲,但去到店舖外面看過餐牌後,大家的興趣不大,
後來見到這間印度餐廳,忽然大家都想一試(其實以前有行經此店,但沒
想過是一間印度菜館)

店子細細,空間感不大,今日是聖誕節,店內佈置簡單,有外國人,印度人
同室進餐,感覺幾有趣smile

有餐前小食胡椒脆餅~~脆餅咸咸地微辣
伴三款醬料@酸洋蔥~~洋蔥爽脆酸酸地幾醒胃@薄荷汁~~淡淡薄荷味夠清新
@辣醬汁~~妹妹他們說好辣,所以我唔敢試


大家商討一論後決定了這幾款食物

印式薯仔沙律$28~~薯仔煙韌,青瓜好清甜,加上酸微微的汁,極之美味smile
串燒芝士$68~~弟弟好想試的一道菜,不過並不是我們所期待的,味道完
全唔似芝士,質感有些似硬實的豆腐,頭一口感覺還好,但再食多一兩啖
就覺飽滯,而且他們用的芝士,說真一句食唔慣,多食會有反胃感
,最後四
個人都只食到兩塊,剩下的只好包起拿走,不過伴著的青椒及蕃茄就OK
蕃茄湯$28~~飲唔到有蕃茄味,但味道清淡還可以
葡汁咖魚$82~~汁料並不太濃烈,味道唔錯,魚肉嫩滑
特色香料雞~~咖哩味重些,微辣,雞肉唔鞋
芝士烤餅$18~~又係用印式芝士,味道怪怪的
雜烤餅$18~~可能加了菠蘿,有些甜甜地,味道幾清新
馬來亞油酥餅$20~~唔夠香酥,比較淋身

本來有些期待印度薄餅,不過今日這幾款都感覺麻麻,要伴著咖哩汁食才
覺美味啲.還有起初點的一兩樣東西上枱之後,其餘的差不多等了有40分
鐘才一口氣來sad好在我們都保持到耐性,沒有表現不滿的態度tongue

之前同同事去了重慶大廈食咖哩,我被那些搶客情境嚇怕了,但又想食印度菜,所以今次同朋友轉戰九龍城!環境都很有情調,所以都合適情侶去撐枱腳,老闆是印度人,但都識聽少少廣東話,不過都是果句,用英文溝通會好D!另一方面,假日如果怕多人的話,可以打電話預約。
前菜:胡椒脆餅, 都是有D辣.... 醬汁有少少辣得來帶酸, 尚算OK...

整體來說, 價錢尚可接受, 雖然MENU入面話要收加一,但最終都冇收到, 他們服務不錯, 會很有禮貌同你講"SURE", 唔會覺得你煩, (我成日叫佢倒水), 所以最終都比咗少少貼士佢地.....

食物方面,全部都是由印度人廚師負責,足料、很有風味及夠新鮮,絶對值得一試!
題外話/補充資料:
印度人不吃豬,所以餐牌上沒有豬肉.

經常在這家餐廳門外去過, 不顯眼的招牌和陰暗的光線令人奇怪這家INDIAN到底有沒有在營業
6時左右到達成位當晚第一組客人, 服務氐十分好禮貌且笑容滿面
胡椒薄餅很CRISPY, 配上黃瓜醬很讚
TANDORRI CHICKEN很入味, 肉也十分鮮嫩
最後KORMA也十分香濃
總的來說這家是KOWLOON CITY/東九龍裡最優質的印度菜館

想起食咖哩首選都是這一間印度菜店,因為多次都是在上午來到食午餐,今次改了晚上來食晚飯了。

六時去到,見店內都不是太多的客人,有時心中都在想這店都是食得一次得一次的感覺,算了吧,拿了餐牌望了一望做叫了一個二人套餐了。內在一個胡椒脆餅、雜菜咖哩角、串燒雞件、咖哩魚、炒青菜

薄薄的胡椒脆餅伴上了和以前一樣的三種汁醬,但望真一些其中一種外型上有了少少的分別,就是酸紅菜頭個一碟,以前是有一些紅蘿蔔一齊的,現在只有酸紅菜頭了,食落沒有了以前有紅蘿蔔時這一種甜香味,而加重了酸和辣這一邊的味道,而其他的兩種味道就沒有太大的分別,深色那一碟酸辣醬仍能帶給人酸甜和辛辣的味道,而薄荷汁當然是清新芳香,伴著非常脆口的脆餅來食真是一流,今次望真一些看見脆餅上有一些烤濃了的胡椒黑位,食落有少少微苦味,但反而令整個脆餅更有風格。

仍然是高水準之作,來到時是非常熱的,真是充滿了新鮮出爐的感覺,要冷一些時才能放入口,要將放皮破開仍然是需要一些的心機,但已經聞到十分之香的炸香味,入面充滿了豌豆、薯仔、胡椒和一些其他的蔬菜。散發著濃濃的咖哩味,雖然是炸物但完全感覺不到它的油膩感,加上入面大量蔬菜的餡料,每一次來這店都期待的食物。

由廚師親自由廚房拿出來,他還拿半個檸檬汁淋在雞件上才離開,由於是鐵板燒的關係,出來時火氣十足,放在鐵板底的洋蔥發出大量的聲音,氣勢十足,食落雞件外表燒得金黃色,食落十分之香口,而入面的雞肉有十分之滑身唔會太老,每一件都充滿了雞味,伴住下面半生熟的洋蔥來食,加了一些的微辣感,感覺都幾滿足,但可能廚師出來時下的檸檬汁多了一些,味道偏向了酸的這一面,算是美中不足吧。

今次的咖哩主菜叫了咖哩魚,辣度只是叫了小辣,食落咖哩汁充滿了香草的味道,由於沒有了辣味的伴隨,更加能食出這店咖哩的真諦,咖哩汁不會太濃,用來食薄餅或是飯都一流,而今次叫的魚食落都有少少的腥味,我想可能是印度人食魚是用咖哩味來去腥的,少了辣味這一道味令魚的”真味”出了來,不過都沒有所謂,因為這個咖哩汁底實在是太好了。

這菜是炒通菜,通菜不是香港人想食的水通而是比較瘦的一類,菜就不是太大碟,但食落菜都幾有菜味,幼幼地食時會覺得有纖維的質感,可能是要適合香港人食飯時喜歡叫一碟菜來中和下整餐飯的”肉”感,不過這一味菜一定可以滿足到你想”幫助消化”這一個項目。

食完伙計們會給一盤好像是冰糖和香草般的東西放在枱上,初初唔知道是什麼用途,原來是給人客清一清口氣,看似平凡的東西原來用途這樣大,真是佩服印度人的智慧。

晚飯時間人客就比下午多一些了,看來都有一些識途老馬來這一些不是太出名的食店去試試,伙計們仍然是十分之有禮,有時聽到他們說少少的廣東話時心中會發出一些的微笑,心中希望這一間經濟正宗的印度餐廳可以維持下去

吃得太多中國中國菜和西菜, 想試下東南亞食品, 今天便選了這個位於九龍城印度菜館.

來到九龍城, 大家會想到泰國菜和清真菜, 印度菜在這裏是一個異數. 見它的食評皆為笑臉, 對它還有一點信心的.

進去後老闆很細心, 知道只有我一個人就將二人套餐改為一人套餐.

首先來個薄脆配青咖喱醬, 熱烘烘的薄脆配上辛辣的咖喱醬令人食慾大增 (還可以無限量供應, 所以我點多一塊)

喝過港式, 馬拉式的奶茶, 這次想試一下印度奶茶, 奶味較多還帶點苦澀味, 沒試過的值得一試, 本人還是喜歡港式奶茶, 這杯真的不是我要的那杯茶.

烤雞肉外皮脆內裏的油隨著我咬了一口便漏了出來, 咖喱角也很有水準, 沒有破口, 內裏的薯蓉很豐富.

炒菜一般, 最後來的咖喱羊腩及印式薄餅, 為這個晚餐劃上個完美的句號.

所有東西也是即製, 服務不錯, 服務員態度好, 不停加水. 可以帶朋友來這裏嘗嘗印度菜.
