Saw on Openrice that the comments are quite good. We have made a reservation for two that night at 8pm I have done all the research on Openrice on the specialties @ Niku.
We arrived Niku on time and were allocated to sit at the upper level.
It took us awhile before we could make the ordering there - the waiter was always not around on the second level to attend to customers' needs. As soon as the waiter walked up the stairs, we were basically trying to wave at the waiter to take our order or just to get some refill for water/tea. And we don't understand why the waiter can't see us - his eyes must have been on his forehead! We even called 'Excuse Me' a couple of times but the waiter just walk back downstairs - is it because they are too busy or what? The problem is that the upper level isn't full.
We ordered Tofu, 明太子雞翼, 黑豚荔枝 X 2, 牛肋肉, 牛舌, 三色烏冬 and a few other dishes.
I got frustrated too - I do not drink tea and have to drink water. I asked for water and I was given a cup of water. Everytime when the waiter give me a refill - they try to pour tea into my cup and had to stop him every time to remind him that my cup is water and not tea. I had to tell the SAME waiter for at least 5 times during these 2.5 hours at this restaurant. I believe I am really served without heart!
Must admit that the 黑豚荔枝 is delicious , but I didn't expect that from the time of ordering to our first dish - it took 15 minutes. And from the first dish to the next - we waited another 15 minutes......the lag between one dish to another was at least 20 minutes. Given the SLOW pace, we ordered the second round. We became really hungry as after an hour - we had only Tofu, 黑豚荔枝 X 1 and 牛舌. Funny enough - the dishes that we ordered for the second round all came after some long wait but a few dishes that we ordered in the first round remains outstanding. We tried to follow up with the waiter a couple of times and they kept telling us it is coming, it is coming and will follow up for us.
The two westerners who sat next to our table were also experiencing such long wait. After almost 1.5hours - the waiters realised that they have got the tables mixed up and needed to double check with the westerners and our table on our orders.
The waiter later treated the westerners with an extra dish and a beer and kept apologising to them. At that moment, I was firing - WHY are westerners treated better than locals? Is that discrimination to locals?
The waiter came telling us that the 三色烏冬 will come in 15 minutes. I double check with him to make sure that it is REALLY going to come in 15 minutes. After we finished with the 三色烏冬 - it was already 10:30pm. Can you believe it - we ordered less than 10 dishes in total and it takes them 2.5 hours for the entire dinner? I thought I must have gone to a French restaurant for fine dining. I am not exaggerating on the amount of wait.
In the end, the waiter gave us a 10% discount on overall bill. OK - that was out of my expectation and I feel fairer! However, I didn't give them any tips as I was too mad! But guess what - we felt like we haven't ate at all - we ended up going to 九記牛腩!
Furthermore - the bill comes to around HKD480 for two even after the discount! Certainly for the amount of wait VS quality of food VS the price VS the service! We don't think it is value for money at all especially that we had to go for a second meal.
On a side note - the waiter told us that they have recently open up the upper level so they are still on a trial run! OMG - so we are the guinea pigs! Strongly suggest that they have to have 1 waiter @ the upper floor to attend to their customers whilst others may pass on the dishes to the waiter. They also need to practice in memorising which table corresponds to which table no. as well to avoid misplacing the orders. Anyway - I am not sure whether this is an excuse or really a valid reason!
I will not revisit this restaurant again even though I like 黑豚荔枝.

我一向對食物要求唔係好高.只要食材新鮮,好簡單既做法已經可以滿足到我既肚皮.先叫左雞泡魚乾同牛舌送酒.牛舌係我食過最好食既,又夠厚,又多汁,個面又夠脆.四個人叫完兩串再兩串再加一串,total五串,傻左=p 食到個waiter都笑我地. 雞泡魚乾都好正,送酒唔駛三十秒就成碟唔見左.結果又encore.搞到好似我地係悶蛋咁
主菜叫左:-
Tataki 霜燒牛肉 – 凍食,點汁,酸酸地
黑豚露筍 – 黑豚係高級貨,同露筍好夾.
黑豚荔枝 – 荔枝好多汁,好似啱啱係樹上面擇咁,唧到d汁落件衫到
帶子 – 剌身燒半熟,好新鮮
虎蝦 – 夠厚肉,肉質夠彈牙,個汁又好味
A4 和牛 – 第一次食宮崎牛,唔差得過神户牛,夠油香又入口即溶
青椒仔 – ok
冬菇 – juicy,唔乾
南瓜 – 可以燶d
飲完一支酒未夠喉,叫老闆再介紹一支 - 澤姫純米,冇咁辣但係好有酒味好醇.
坐到所有人走晒,老闆依然好好笑容.抵讚.香港正正需要咁既服務態度.

舒服小店
主菜 - 有四個選擇+一個每天特選.今天跟朋友都選了柚子(?)黑豚串跟黑豚蘆筍卷.黑豚串其實是插在竹籤上的鮮嫩薄燒,肥瘦適中,配着那些酸酸的柚子(柑橘?)茸,開胃解膩,好吃.蘆筍卷也很好,薄薄的黑豚肉燒得香,加上蘆筍得清甜,吃得很舒服.燒汁也下得剛好,不會太多(=>太甜/濃,搶了食物本身的味道).
清湯底梅子味的簥麥麵普通,勝在夠清.朋友點的豬骨湯烏冬更好吃(烏冬口感不錯).整個餐的份量其實不多,但因為都是燒物,太多也會膩吧.這樣也好,只是如果能給我一碗飯,我會更高興.
飲品 - 我要了白桃疏打,桃味清香,而且冰冰涼涼,心理上可以稍解燒物的熱氣.(但實質上當然是很美味!)
店雖小,但坐得很舒服,而且店長很不厭其煩地介紹食物.只是有點遠,否則會天天來吃!
另,午餐免加一.

平時D爐端燒,多數主打燒鳥,而呢一間,連串燒牛肉同串燒豚肉都有多款式選擇,仲有串燒海鮮添,當然基本嘅佐酒小食同烏冬冷麵都有供應。
總括所有食物都好有水準,不過最重要係服務態度非常好

特色串燒特色酒
看著drink list, 很多清酒, 侍應很隨和的說, 可讓我們先試一試才下order, 現在巳很少餐廳這樣做, 先試了一小杯名叫鶴齡的清酒, 很甜很易入口, 友人一喝便愛上, order 了一瓶, 我心想怎可能把它喝完呢? 算吧, 也不算很貴$468, 好酒難求.
然後要了一些又是待應介紹的串燒, 原來這家爐端燒以日本梅作主題, 那麼當然要吃主打菜式, 才能吃得出它的特色. 我們order 了梅子荔枝黑豚, 梅子秋刀大葱, 配以辣梅醬的雞脾肉, 燒雞腎, 燒雞奕和羊架. 先上了梅子荔枝黑豚, 黑豚的味道很濃郁, 一點都不覺油膩, 從沒吃過這樣好吃的"豬肉", 和梅子荔枝的確很匹配, 立即order 多一客, 再回味. 梅子秋刀大葱也很有驚喜, 這是我第一次這樣吃秋刀魚, 辣梅醬的雞脾上有小小的大葱圈作點綴, 更能帶出了它的香味. 羊架一客有兩件, 不太乾又香口, 用手拿著吃最滋味.
不知不覺我們原來巳喝光一瓶酒, 友人還有點意猶未盡, 再喝同一瓶的話, 倒不如試另一種吧. 又聽隨待應的介紹試了小左衛門, 有點辛, 比之前的更有勁度, 再加半瓶. 繼續我們的談天說地, 吃一些更香口的食物, 燒雞腎和燒雞奕. 雞奕的皮燒得很脆, 調味恰到好處, 這麼普通的雞奕也做得那麼出色, 真叫我喜出望外, 也吃得出師傅的心機.
這裡的酒很有特色, 比一般的清酒香和濃, 問老闆, 他說這些都是生酒, 酵母還活生生的, 味道當然更勝一籌, 又在這裡上了一課.

吃足成晚,飲飽食醉!
開頭聽到餐廳地址也不太知道在那裏,看看地圖,原來就是在歌賦街九記附近.環境方面,餐廳是日式簡約feel,枱不是坐得太密,坐得舒舒服服,不算迫,也不失有吃串燒的熱鬧氣氛.
食物方面,和牛舌必定要吃,惹味得來又有牛舌的煙韌,我們四個人足足吃了五串!!黑豚荔枝及黑豚露荀也不錯,黑豚的甘香配露荀及荔枝沒有了肥膩的感覺.A3和牛一客$2xx但份量十足,我想應該有150-200g,超抵,三至四人吃剛剛好,下次一定要試A4看看甘香度會不會比A3更強,油份更足.這裏海鮮的選擇比其日式串燒店多很多,我們吃了虎蝦:不錯,幾新鮮,配有黃金汁燒,幾特別.還有試了waiter推介的燒大花甲,海螺,白鱔,鮎魚等新鮮海鮮..正!..不過最後想吃點熱湯烏冬但waiter說暫時沒有提供,似乎是有點欠缺.另外,看見隔離枱竟然有原隻日本蟹,本來打算要一隻,三四個人剛剛好,但原來要訂枱時預訂的,唯有齋望...
sake我們開了一支純米吟釀.其實我們也不懂喝的,但我們希望喝一枝帶點甜味的,waiter便推介這枝.waiter說這枝是生酒,其他餐廳甚少會提供,感覺就好像生啤與罐裝啤酒一樣,感覺會比較fresh及特別.我們四個也很喜歡這枝酒,香甜,易入口,又有足夠after taste, 老闆還教了我們許多sake的知識及分類呢!!
四個人七點吃到十一點半,不用吃飽了後再搵下場飲野了!

意想不到的美味爐端燒~
我地有朋友中環返工,約埋mtr出口等,行左5分鐘就到,都幾方便,不過有人識路就易搵d.
我地有7個人,因為佢d爐端燒一串至兩串上,勝在一班人,可以試多d.我都叫左好多野,樣樣都幾好味~

三五知己食飯好去處 ~

由上環MTR 出...好快就搵到 ... 原本好近九記 ...
入到去坐低 , 店員就好熱情招呼我地 , 井仲介紹咗幾個招牌菜比我地試,
由於天氣都幾熱 ...佢地就介紹咗D凍飲比我地 , 有巨峰梳打同白桃梳打...
啱晒 ...好解渴
之後店員好細心咁介紹佢地D菜色比我地選擇 , 於是我地簡咗凍蕃茄 , "池"魚 , 雞泡魚干, 牛舌, 帶子,雞盛 (3串唔同味嘅雞串) , 魷魚筒.. 整睇嚟講d 野係幾好食 ... 下次會再試埋其他野食...個環境同衛生都好好 ... 唔錯 ~~

隱世爐端燒
記得之前雜誌睇到個頭有間新既日本野,於是去做白老鼠.
搵左陣,熱到死.好在去到見到門面好似幾過癮. 入到去都幾好坐.日式小追店feel. good!
坐低叫左黑豚加梅烏冬,朋友叫左雞雞加泠面.最正即刻有杯白桃soda,爽晒.
黑豚露筍gd,梅烏冬其實唔係好"梅",不過彈牙. 同事串雞雞都好似好正,下次試.
牆到有好多sake樽,未見過.搵晚黎試下先.

柳暗花明爐端燒
裝修簡潔,一入到去WAITER就好熱情款待..
本來天氣咁熱都唔係好想食串燒,不過見幾新鮮咪試下
點左個LUNCH SET,有一個不知名沙律,一碟串燒(有燒牛,燒露荀,燒茄子同埋燒大葱)..點左個麵鼓湯烏冬,個FD就點左綠茶蕎麥麵..最後有杯柚子梳打
前菜沙律好好味..可能係個汁調得好
串燒其實都燒得OK,不過上得太快,等烏冬上既時候已經凍左,所以影響左串燒既風味
串燒幾有日本風味,味道適中唔太濃,唔算好油,要讚下D蔬菜好新鮮
烏冬OK咁,OK煙"UN",不過可以再整彈牙少少仲好..難得麵湯底唔咁味精,味道幾好
柚子梳打好好飲,不過梳打水無味,要不停攪D柚子上黎先飲到D味,攪到好攰..好大杯下,夏天岩晒
整體感覺幾好,樓面好乾淨,味道唔味精,但又幾好味..都會再去..有機會再試埋晚餐
地點唔算好易搵,

尤其鍾意個紀子味凍蕃茄, 酸酸甜甜, 好醒胃, 夏天一流!
仲有最人氣和牛, 一串一口, 少食多滋味
加上一口凍清酒
還有燒大蝦,上面加埋秘制醬一齊燒, 正!

不錯的特色串燒店
先上咗兩款醬, 一款唔辣, 另一款係辣o既. 我就鐘意辣o個個, 點哂再encore!!
四個人叫咗:
梅子雞頸肉 - 都幾有特色, 雞頸肉好少食到
甘吉黑豚 - 個黑豚真係幾好味喎, 唔同第二度食到o個d
虎蝦 - 好鮮味, 加埋個黃色o既醬燒, 唔錯唔錯
北海道帶子 - 我最鐘意, 大到好似食帶子扒咁
牛舌 - 夠厚又juicy
銀雪魚 - 都好好味, 不過可以大件d
茄子 - 我覺得再林返小小會好d
三色烏冬 - 個賣相好吸引, 好彈牙
蕃薯 - 超甜呀
南瓜 - 夠林又夠濃, 又encore 咗一次
明太子雞亦 - 我個朋友話係全晚最好食.... =.=
整體嚟講都唔錯, 不過最衰無甜品, 有埋就好喇.
