It is a kind of irresistible temptation as Sushi U was offering all food from the menu 50% off on her 1st year anniversary tonight. I have waited long for an excuse to try their 飛驒牛. Booking has been full for the 8pm section, so we have to dine early at 6pm. Here is our order: My conclusion is that quality of good is high, you are unlikely to be disappointed. This pefectly fit for business clients. However, they also price at a premium. You can probably get fresh sashimi somewhere with similar quality but lower price. Having said that, 煮物,燒物,卷物 are not expensive. They are similar price as other Japanese restaurants. The most unique offer is 飛驒牛. I love to come again to try 飛驒牛 shabu shabu. That was my initial desire, unfortunately, the restaurant did not offer it tonight.

2010-04-25Once again, we tried to book a popular Japanese restaurant in Causeway Bay at the last minute. No luck. Too many people going for the weekend lunch special. So, we thought of trying Sushi U instead since they have some of the highest-quality Japanese food we've tried in HK. Plus they are close to home. As we found out, they have an excellent lunch buffet + à la carte for HK$ 380/person. It wasn't as inventive as, say, the weekend lunch buffet at another popular restaurant in Landmark. But the quality was superlative, there was a wide variety, and we almost needed a forklift to get us back out the door. For hungry people this lunch special is incredible value for money. The menu items include: • 5 pieces of sashimi • all-you-can-eat sushi • a shrimp and vegetable tempura set • a mini rice bowl (e.g. chirashi) with several topping choices • miso soup plus egg custard • coffee/tea to finish The buffet included: • four kinds of sushi rolls (e.g. salmon skin, spicy tuna) • yaki sticks (no tori) incl. leeks, mushrooms, etc. • grilled cod, shishamo, eel • fried foods incl. chicken karaage • bacon and tomato salad • gyoza • oden • udon bowls • dessert: tiramisu, coconut pudding with mango, and several others I have left out a few of the buffet items I'm sure. Everything tasted fresh and up to the standard of the meals we've had here before. The octopus sushi I had was not as tender as I've had at that other place we couldn't get into, but that was the only weak spot. The chu-toro was rich and melt-in-your mouth, the uni was excellent, the botan ebi creamy and not mushy, and the tempura was very lightly battered. Most surprisingly, the dining room was only sparsely populated when we sat down to eat at 1:00. A few more tables came in but it was a surprising contrast to the carnage in CWB Japanese restaurants at lunch time. It's not as cheap as those places, but Sushi U offers consistently high quality and I still can't get over how much they offer for the price. I have had crappy take-out Japanese meals in New York featuring rolls with kilos of rice in them that cost more than this set lunch.

又係星期日,平時少啲過中環,不過今次專程過去同朋友食一餐,因為有大半年冇去啦,睇下有乜新意思。 上到去同以前差不多,即係話唔使等,一定有位。咁都好,可以安心品嘗美食 間老板最近有乜好食,佢話返咗隻新和牛,叫做“飛騨牛”去年係當地岐阜縣得過獎咁話, 同時香港好似佢哋先有得食! 轉頭和牛刺身食完,跟隨一客左口刺身,賣相都唔錯,一句講哂,鮮甜爽脆,雖然冇河魨咁甜,但已唔錯啦! 最後再嚟飛驒牛 sabu sabu, 到現在先知道佢地唔返 A5 牛嘅原因,就係食完一鍋,表面都冇乜油出現。而家明哪, 健康啲喎! 冇咁油。 最後,老板話食飛驒牛,而家重有八折呀! 推介美食: 飛驒牛刺身

中招 (非會員) | 2010-03-23好耐都冇去鮨雄,好掛住佢個刺身定食,上個星期日就去啦,點知中招... 一行6人,5大一小,我開車去到樓下就叫我屋企人上去先,我去泊車。 點知我上到去見到佢地個個都叫左buffet食,我就覺得奇怪啦,問我老婆 做咩唔食set呀? 跟手佢比個menu我睇,buffet 就$380,lunch set 就最平都$300, 平時$250嘅sashimi set今日就$350。星期日貴$100! 即係侷你食buffet啦! 重要以前大人叫buffet,我個仔5歲係唔洗計嘅, 我老婆都以為都係一樣啦,入去嗰時佢地又冇講。但當我個仔食咗一啖我老婆比佢食嘅天婦羅嘅時候, 佢地即時就走過嚟話小朋友要收半價,咁我老婆話比佢聽我個仔得5歲,以前係唔計嘅。但佢話而家改咗,咁我老婆問佢咁佢而家個仔唔食得唔得呀? 佢話已經見到我個仔有食,就要比錢。頂!你唔早講! 我平時叫set食嘅時候,我都會叫多個燒魚定食比我個仔嘅。 但佢而家又侷你大人食buffet,lunch set 又最平$300,重要set menu得個天婦羅定食係熟之外,其它全部係生嘅。Buffet 入面最重要嘅sashimi 同sushi 小朋友又唔食得! 我見到我屋企人叫咗buffet跟嘅5款刺身比我以前食刺身定食差好多,咁我 諗,比平時多$100都叫個刺身定食,睇下會唔會比buffet嘅好! 點知都係同buffet質數一樣嘅。比以前差好多! 以後都唔會去,由其是星期日

2010-03-08到中環看醫生後,本想按原定計劃,到銅鑼灣『翔太』食lunch,但由於沒有吃早餐,肚子不斷打鼓,決定在中環食lunch便算,抬頭望見『鮨雄』的招牌,突想起友人曾經推介此餐廳,決定一試。 一進餐廳,例必望一望sushi bar,看到有日本師傅,心想『應該可靠』,哈哈哈...請恕我無知! 可能是星期六的原故,餐廳只有三幾枱客人,一室木紋家具,加上明亮的黃燈,十分寧靜高雅,不期然說話都放輕了聲線。 問了侍應小姐,原來 "女士sushi set" 只有6件壽司,以我今日的狀態,明知一定不夠飽,只好同mr 譚一樣,大家都order了 "壽司定食"。 定食一共有十多件壽司(確實數目已忘記了)、蒸蛋、前菜 & 麵豉湯。 個人覺得壽司較細件,比較精緻。魚生很新鮮,但略嫌乾身,最喜歡鮮甜的瀨尿蝦及厚厚的甜蛋。最後是雪糕,很滑但芝麻味不夠濃郁。 總括,『鮨雄』的出品絕對不容置異,但在我心中,『翔太』還是no. 1呢, 『壽司廣』& 『鮨雄』緊隨其後。

上個星期日晚同朋友到中環這家都算新的 SUSHI U 試試,因為聽說這家店星期日都有新鮮魚貨返,是關一般日本餐廳都係星期二,四返貨,看看是不是真. 上到去如同其他食家所評,個場唔錯,夠光猛,晤似有D場黑暗暗的. 我們在SUSHl BAR坐下,看見酒牌有唔少好SAKE,我們就叫了越乃寒梅,純米吟樣,這酒在香港少見,難得回味。跟著侍應送上餐前小食,好地道,有江戶前的風味,份量唔少,好似多咗D。。再來就係老板 田中 推介的是日刺身,有拖羅,秋刀,鯛魚,甜蝦,赤貝。好似好一般,但係勝在新鮮,老板 田中 話佢地每天都有飛機貨,真係無講錯。 最後,我地想考考他們說,有無拖羅根? 初頭老板都話無,但後來師傅從雪櫃底拿出來。問我地點食,我們一齊話當然鹽燒啦! 所以證明佢地都好有水平,係想食好野的地方,唔錯。 推介美食: 刺身拖羅,壽司

看過別人在這里拍的照片,以为会很好吃,但是这次真的有点失望。 叫了Ladie's Sushi Set , 雖然海胆可以説是OK、但魚生都是乾乾的、不好吃。。。 可能別的定食會比較好吃。在Naozen的Ladie's定食比這兒的好吃多了。 Lunchtime還觉得有一点擁擠,很烦。最多给這店多一次机会!

I love sushi and I often pick the sushi bar to sit because I wanted to observe how the sushi chef skillfully prepare my sushi. Well, at least that was my initial intention for coming to Sushi U @ LKF for lunch. (I sound disappointed? Oh yes, I am very disappointed.) I have been hearing a lot of different comments on this place so I decided to give it a try. I was pretty excited when I first sat down at the sushi bar right in front of the sushi chefs but my excitement did not last long. I felt like a kid with his lollipop stolen and the lollipop was my excitement and anticipation. Apparently, perhaps it was busy lunch hours, many of the sushi were pre-prepared! You see the little tin container in the picture? Many of the sushi pieces were FRESHLY selected from the tin container. Unless you order hot food, you will be one of the lucky ones to have enjoyed some of these FRESHLY selected sushi from the TIN CONTAINER! Honestly, I understand how busy it can be during lunch hours, but PLEASE DO NOT LET ME SEE WITH MY OWN EYES!!! (It took me a few attempts to take this picture! – will I be banned from this place from now on … haha) One more thing I find very interesting is the design of the sushi bar. Why would the sushi fridge’s doors be facing the customers? Through out the meal some of the fridge doors remained open. What if I were having a serious allergy day and continue to sneeze during the meal? I serious don’t want to imagine that scenario! (1) Sashimi Set My friend ordered this set and it looked very nice. Of course even for some sashimi pieces, some were pre-cut but the presentation was pretty nice. (2) Special Daily Bento I like surprises so I ordered this special daily Bento which has no description on the menu as to the items included. I was indeed surprised to find how ordinary the items were in my humble opinion. The sushi pieces were chef selected, two of which were FRESHLY selected from the TIN CONTAINER. Although the quality of the fish was fair but the TIN CONTAINER issue really made a negative impression on me. The fried item was something like crab cakes to me but the inside were softer like mashed (instead of minced) crab meat. Very interesting item which I enjoyed. Sashimi was alright but for a lunch box costing over HKD 250, why would they skillful select salmon? The Chawanmushi was alright, not the custard type but it was in room temperature meaning it was not directly form the steamer. I seriously think the side dishes were more tasty and of course more appetizing, especially the eggplant . At the end of the meal while my friend and I were having a cup of coffee and ice cream, we were presented with the bill. WHEN DID I ASK FOR THE BILL? I don’t think I am at the age I would forget about asking for the bill! While presenting the bill, the waitress mentioned that there were many customers waiting. Why would that concern me? I am spending well over HKD 250 per person for a lunch and I could not even enjoy my coffee? At least ask me nicely first instead of passing me the bill out of nowhere! The most funny thing happened soon after I signed the bill. While trying to finish up my cup of coffee, the store manager (I assumed he is) came over and asked us if we were done. I looked over my shoulder and he was in a “begging” gesture with his two hands put together, informing us very nicely that many customers were still waiting outside and how sorry he felt. Blah, blah blah and BLAH!!! Likes: * Japanese crab cakes * Side dishes - all the side dishes were yummy, especially the eggplant! * Service during the meal was good but not at the end! Dislikes: * Being rushed off, twice ! * Pre-prepared sushi in tin container ! 2009-08-29係中環搵緊有咩事,, 抬頭見到日本食物既牌,, 於是就上左去 去到人唔多,, lunch 既餐牌唔算多款,, 而且一幅圖片都冇,, 全憑估計咁點食物. 結果我點了吉烈豬扒定食,, 朋友點了個個唔係好記得,, 大概係燒鱸魚定食... 首先上的, 係定食既tray,, 有湯, 蒸蛋, 沙津, 前菜. 好多食物. 全部都好好味... 湯冇多數既餐廳咁咸,, 算清,, 飲左大半都唔會覺得好飽 蒸蛋既蛋好滑,, 都有其他小配料,, 同蛋配合得相當好 沙津有兩片煙鴨胸,, 沙津醬好夠,,唔會太乾 到主菜,, 吉烈豬扒好鬆軟,, 好容易就咬得開,, 又唔係太油,, 真係相當出色 而鱸魚既汁完全留係魚到,, 魚一點都唔乾,, 而且個汁都好好味. 值得一試 總括尼講,, 成個lunch都超級好味,, 唔會因為佢地主要賣魚生而影響到其他食物既水準,, 雖然lunch尼講係有點貴,, 但真係超值,, 絕對值得一試. 有機會我都會再尼試試其他食物. 此店既唯一既小小壞處就係職員大部份只講日文,, 佢地聽唔明中文... 不過餐牌有中文顯示,, 職員都可以用英文溝通,, 所以問題一點都唔大... 有空一定要尼試試啊!

2009-08-22尋日無故俾老細的0左去中環食Lunch, 不嬲唔係中環人, 所以一見中環放lunch 萬馬奔騰奇景 真係嚇親!! 不過話時話中環0的人不輪男女都比灣仔0個0的養眼好多! 得閑無事走唻目及人都唔錯! 唻到呢間sushi u, 居然冇book 枱都有得食, 仲唔使等位添!! 我叫0左個assorted sashimi set (sth like like), 老細叫0左個北海don, 兩個都係$220。 兩個set 唻到, 講真, 個樣唔大分別, 只係我個魚生SET 多0左兩舊蛋, 而北海DON 就多兩舊crab meat。個樣唔錯, 滿滿一碗魚生, 鋪得好靚! 一食, 講真冇sushi hiro 0個種驚為天人, 但係都水平不俗。我鍾意佢個set 夠多款, 又salad, 又湯, 又關東煮(類似) ,又蛋..... 而我最感動就係佢杯咖啡!! 係我最愛0既日本咖啡!! 香到爆!! 一飲諗返去東京!! 好過starbucks 0的多多聲!! 不過見到佢一觀音頭掃把腳之處: 點解佢走高檔日本餐廳路線居然0的wasabi 係用同旺角cheap 兜餐廳用0既一樣, 而唔係用生磨0架呢???? 我諗日本人唻到見到都會眉頭一縐! 總結而言, 呢度係好食, 但只限食lunch吧, 夜晚貴到咁, 咪搞我0喇.....負擔不起!

L has read rave reviews on this new restaurant @ LKF called sushi u (鮨雄) opened just in april and kept urging me to try it for him. so when my colleagues asked me where i wanted to go have my birthday lunch, sushi u naturally came on top of my head. the consulting chef at sushi u is toshio matsudo (松戶利雄), a famous sushi chef who used to cook for important japan politicians (think of obama's white house chef). he used to work at sushi dokoro matsudo (鮨處松戶) in TST, but left the restaurant a year ago to start his own. chef matsudo is famous for his nigiri preparation technique - he presses only 3x to avoid warming up the rice, but yet applying the right magnitude of force to give an overall spongy texture. there is also an in-house nommelier to guide you through their cellar of over 300 japanese wines from sake to plum wine. i ordered the lady set ($180), which includes 2 appetizers, 1 salad, 6 pieces of sushi, 1 tamago, 1 steamed egg, 1 udon. it's enough for me on this day when i wasn't that hungry, but for a full-grown man, i would recommend the full sushi set ($250) with 10 pieces of sushi. the house was waited by mainly japanese staffs, and the service was your typical japanese business restaurant style - prompt, polite, yet a bit cold. on the sushi - i was not particularly impressed with the fish quality, although this rice was nicely pressed (after having been disappointed with the deteriorating quality at sushi hiro, i sincerely appreciate a piece of correctly pressed nigiri in hong kong). tuna was actually a little dry, chu-toro was not fatty enough, mackarel was quite nice, and uni was the best out of all - very fresh and sweet, even a bit sea-watery. i acutally thought the udon was pretty bad - not the 手打烏冬 i was expecting for a restaurant of this level of reputation and price, and they added to much fried tempura batter and made the soup very oily, the udon a bit soggy. even though sushi hiro quality has somewhat plunged in the last year, i still think it is slightly better than sushi u. inagiku has much better sashimi quality, but comes at a price. for what you're paying, sushi u is probably the best in central (betterin sushi kuu, yeah. i have long heard about the cute sushi chef at sushi kuu but i have never met one for the few times i went there). i understand most sushi restaurants serve better quality of fish during dinner time, so i will give sushi u another try at night. for original post: http://randomnomad.wordpress.com/2009/08/13/sushi-u/

Stickytape (非會員) | 2009-07-22Contrary to earlier posts, this place is quite crowded at lunch time now. It felt more like a noisy bazaar than a decent Japanese restaurant. I had a sushi set which was ok with a generous serving but it certainly was not something that you would "crave" for more. Overall, the price was ok for a Central eatery but don't expect too much. Kiku would probably be a better choice. Also, some of the waiters/waitresses there should be re-trained as their standard of service was only comparable to fast food outlets. In particular, the staff in charge of bookings and table allocations at the entrance was quite inexperienced and unhelpful both at the entrance as well as during the lunch service which made the experience a bit unpleasant. The general service was slow and a bit chaotic as their capacity obviously could not cope with a full-house situation there. The overall experience was not so great although the sushi was ok. Not highly recommended for "foodies" but it is probably ok for people who just want to find a place to sit down for lunch in Central.

2009-07-19星期五, 中午同事突然另有飯局, 之後找兩位食友看看她們會去食d乜. 由她們發版吧. 大家豪少少來到鮨雄, 試下貴價日本菜. 安排了坐在一個小室內的吧檯, 只有一名問乜都答"係" "係" "係" 既日本人女侍應服務. 要求煩少少的事都要找名中國人來幫手的. 雖然是這樣子, 普通的中英文她也應付得來, 不過, 我要說服務差一點, 可能是因為我們坐在一個小室, 而且在吧檯上背向著所有人, 所以叫人黎比較麻煩而已. 先說一位茹素朋友既order 先啦, 納豆手卷, 味道其實幾咸, 但朋友食得好開心, 可能像Marmite咁, you either love it or hate it. 她要的稻亭烏東亦是一個一流既食物. 我們要的剌身Set, 姍姍來遲. 本來打算一小時內完成的午餐, 結果delay了三個字. 成個set, 由味僧湯同一些前菜開始. 那些豆腐味道不差, 鴨胸沙律, 加了千島醬同日本醋, 開胃小口, 不錯. 魚生, 竟然連海謄, 三文魚腩都有, 俾得$250一個 set lunch, 有呢兩樣野, 終於覺得值得. 食落去, 魚生果然非常之新鮮. 海謄帶有鮮甜味. 顏色亦鮮黃, 不過為了殺一殺菌, 點一點Wasabi好d. 魚生, 本來好欣賞個魚腩. 而且個魚腩非常之肥. 肥美是好的, 不過女士們看見那層厚厚的肥肉, 不禁有點怕起來. 食落, 真的好肥美, 鮮味肥美的魚油, 停留在口中好一段時間才散. 有時亦不禁用綠茶沖一沖d油脂. 非常之好味同enjoy 的一餐. 不過夜晚非常之貴, 朋友說若是發了達, 才考慮佢個$720餐吧.

8011 (非會員) | 2009-06-22今日去食 lunch set, 好多款選擇, 我叫咗個刺身定食, $250, 好飽 除咗 d 魚生夠新鮮, 個 set 仲有 8 件細壽司卷, 蒸蛋, 湯, 飯, 沙律, 餐茶 我諗我下次應該可以試個 lady set 其他 set 亦唔算好貴, 但相比起, 呢個 set 真係抵食, $280 仲有個刺身壽司定食 tim.... 我選擇坐 bar 枱, 冇咁嘈 整體我覺得呢度既 lunch 係唔錯, 雖然貴, 但間唔中食一次慰勞吓自己都幾好
