This place is difficult to access for some, it depends on where you head here from and whether you carry enough spare energy to walk up the steep hill, or else scud along Hollywood Road from LKF/SOHO side! Its part of the growing Group of S.M.L, Classified Mozzarella Bar, The Pawn and The Press Room - the good thing about here is that you can eat here by yourself or with friends for a quick Dinner fix, for a Cheese fix, or only for Wine! (Pity about the undrinkable coffees.) Some samples of foods available below:
3 CHEESEs PLATTER $155 - You may try all of their cheeses in their temp controlled Cheese Room before buying, most imported from Britain, Ireland and France or Italy. Most are made from the desirable unpasterised milk, although after trying many in the room, the range can be slightly bland in character for strong-cheese lovers..! The Monsier Chatte cheeses sourced from a different but singular Cheese affineur French master have slightly better taste, so I figured who you source the cheese from and how they produce and 'especially' mature' them matters the most. Try the Bernard Anthony ones as comparison! The above photo shows the following Cheeses on that Platter, together with Quince Paste and cannot remember if its Walnut or Pumpkin Bread on the side. Rated from least liked to favourite:
Brin d'Armour - The Rind covered with Junipers and Rosemary herbs, its an Ewe's (Sheep) milk cheese from France. I don't know why but this didn't have much characters, even after warming up to room temperature.
Ardi Gasna - Semi-hard Ewe's Milk cheese from the Basque area. I wrote somewhere I'm a lover of Sheep's Milk Cheeses such as Italian Pecorino's, so expectedly one of my other favourite cheese is its main French competitor, the AOC designated Ossau Iraty's. Although that's available here, I tried its younger cousin that night, the un-aged Ardi Gasna. Surprisingly this was quite bland for a Brebis de Pyrenees. In fact, a lot of other cheeses I tried in the cheese room seemed very toned down in nature.
Dorstone - A British cheese with an ashy coating and staff recommended, its medium dense but fluffy rather than the creamy-like French Chevre's. Its full of expected, in your face Goat's milk flavour. I don't usually pick Goat's cheeses over other styled cheese, I like ANY cheese!!!! But since the other choices seem to be 'sleeping', this was an easy winner. My neighbours sharing the SML styled Communal table (I came here before SML opened...) and who ordered this same cheese also preferred this as the best on their platter.
CHICKEN & PESTO CREAM SAUCE PENNE - This was quite good and came with a bit of pine nuts and a herbal garlicky suace, penne cooked al dente! Really liked this and the sauce consistency tasted like a modern Western country pasta rather than an authentic Italian experience, but at least its not artificially creamy or watery sludgey or translucent sauce based like the localised HK versions. I enjoy the pasta's here and they're affordable for a quick meal after work. I'm not sure I liked the Mushrooms based risotto I had on 1 night though, it seemed a bit too creamy and overcooked.
WINES - The shops under this group always have smartly chosen 'Wines by the Glass', trying to balance between the Drinkable versus company Profits, but slightly biased towards the latter! The better wines are expensive, jumping from around $60/glass to upto $90-100/glass and I think the mark-ups are a bit high relative to wholesale/retail prices and the actual wine standards. I find them a bit opportunistic, considering they also import and sell wines as retail themselves, plus we still need to pay 10% more.....
GREAT SHOP OVERALL - THE BEST DEALS YOU GET FROM HERE ARE THEIR PASTAS, THE OTHER ITEMS AND DRINKS CAN BE SLIGHTLY EXPENSIVE !
I've been meaning to come here for the longest time - but just could never find the right time! Anyway, my girlfriend and I finally had the right opportunity - we had a heavy tea around 6pm, and decided on a late-ish and light dinner (or so we thought).
The restaurant itself is quite small. The lower floor sits 4-5 tables, and the upper floor probably can sit twenty, but usually seems reserved for events. There are small tables and benches outside, and kudos to those who braved the heat and mosquitoes to dine there.
We ordered the cheese platter (medium - 5 cheeses), ham platter (small), goat cheese salad and the potato leek soup (daily special). We also got a bottle of Austrian Sauvignon Blanc (2007), which turned out was a pleasant surprise, not overly dry or fruity with a hint of apple.
For the cheese platter, we entered the frigid storage room to select our five cheese. The staff was gracious in letting us try whatever we wanted. After spending about 10 minutes sampling a few - (and secretly cursing that we got the medium cheese platter, since we were stuffed by sampling everything already) - we chose three hard cheeses (Comte, Doddington's, Coolea), and two soft cheeses (Cashel Blue, Ticklemore). Their cheese selection was numerous, and will definitely be able to satisfy any taste. The missus enjoys a milder, softer flavour - Ticklemore, Comte, while I enjoyed the more pungent cheeses - Cashel Blue, Coolea. Doddingtons was somewhere in between. We did not have the cahooneys to try the Stinking Bishop.
The ham platter lived up to my expectations as well. With (a surprisingly) generous helping of 18-month aged iberico, prosciutto, chorizo, and salami, coupled with bread, mustard and gherkins, it was a ham-lover's paradise.
After immensely enjoying the cheese and ham, the other dishes we ordered are almost after-thoughts. The potato and leek soup was good, tasty without the overbearing aftertaste of leek. The goat cheese salad was enjoyable - the dressing and greens did not impress, but it was saved by the wonderful cheese.
I can't relay how immensely satisfied I was with this meal - 満腹. It was a little pricey, due to the orderings of ham, cheese and wine, but it was worth every penny. A supposedly light-ish dinner turned into an orgy of good food, and I'll definitely be making return trips. Definitely visit if you have a like or love for good ham and cheese, or if you're looking to fall in love with them =)

The service and food quality of the restaurant is good. The waiters are friendly and have good knowledge of the menu (esp. the cheese in the cheeseroom). The atmosphere is also nice and relaxing. I will certainly visit there again!
I visited the place twice: one time to get some jam and to other to have some wine and cheese.
Not surprisely, the prices are dear. It costs $60 for a small jar of jam and $135 for a big one, which is comparable to those available at the Peninsula shop. However, they do offer a lot of flavour which are rarely available in ordinary shops. I tried the fig & grape, rose petal and apple in butterscotch. They are nice.
I made my second visit last saturday with a friend who also like red wine with nice cheese and ham. We had 5 glasses of red wine, one bottle of still mineral water, a cheese platter and a ham sampler at a total of $740 including 10%. The Pinot Noir is nice, considering the price $65/glass. My friend ordered one from Boudeaux and we didn't find it very appelling. I think we should ask the price for one bottle if we plan to stay there for a while next time. The selection of cheese was very reasonable though we did find one type not easily accepted. It tasted to me like salty egg, just not so salty. The ham sampler was excellent!!! But kinda expensive for me. $180!
I would love to hang around for longer, but it's not a place for most of us to frequent. The service is good: all staff are helpful and pleasant with sound product knowledge.
Notwithstanding the price performance, I do recommend this place to those who love good food
Came here on a lazy sunday afternoon with hubby. We've ordered the small cheese platter and juice and chilled for an hour. They have a good selection of wine too. Might try it next time.
A very good place to spend time in the afternoon if you are getting sick of high tea and cake

下 車時,這間店比想像中小,但裝修簡單而美觀, 不少外國人都喜歡坐在外面一面吃一面和朋友談天
這店的服務很好,侍應都很有禮貌,尤其是當我的兒子在芝士房選芝士時,她都很用心解釋和提供意見
說回這個芝士房,真的很臭,我的女兒走進去就立刻退出來,而我也只是在苦苦支持,只有我的兒子談笑自若
Cheese Plaster 好不好味就不知了,因為我本人喜歡吃芝士的,但根據我兒子說,味道頂呱呱,隨這個Cheese Plaster 一起來的麵包味道就一般,而且比較硬
兩杯Hot Chocolate味道香濃,根據餐牌上說是用vero dark 70% cocoa做的
而我太太就叫了一杯鮮橙汁,味道當然和一般的橙汁一樣啦

最推鴨胸, Pama Ham及牛Panni, 全部都加了他們的優質芝士, 外脆, 鴨胸香, Pama Ham惹味, 牛嫩, 每次吃都非常感動, 可以吃到如此美味食物, 是一件幸福的事.
他們特別設有一間芝士房, 可以上去參觀兼選芝士, 芝士當然亦是他們的”膽”, 配合Panni或Pasta – 絶!
咖啡亦是我的心水, 味道好得比StarbXXX/PacXXXX Coffee贏幾條街, 即使他們的咖啡略貴, 也不得不喝.
Panni + Soup set只是$68; Pasta + Soup set也只不過是$98, 不用工作的weekend (有時甚至是weekdays), 幾乎都可以在這兒找到我.
想起也流口水, 一於明天來一個Panni set.

星期五的Yuppie生活
樓下滿座, 員工問我們介不介意到樓上Wine Celler 坐, 上面一張長檯, Cheese Room亦在樓上. 四個人, 自成一角, 雖不時有選酒同芝士人士出入, 但無礙我們之興致.
我同阿哥二人先到, 選了紅酒, 芝士, 選酒時, 因有人進出Cheese Room 而令芝士香傳出, 濃香的奶油味, 甚是可愛, 未等兩位女士到達, 我們先選下Cheese.
一條, Brie, 一條叫 Strinking Bishop, 一條叫什麼忘了(Ireland入口). 三種芝士帶出不同味道, Strinking Bishop, 起初感覺太咸, 太濃, 但在室溫放了一段時間, 加上紅酒的配搭, 竟然越食越有味. Brie 帶點西蘭花味 (靚女朋友首先食出), 感覺普通.
另外叫了兩個頭盤小食, 一個 Greek Salad with Bule Cheese, 另外一個Parma Ham Melon. Parma Ham 非常薄切, 加少少胡椒, 用來送送酒, 或當酒後品, 都不錯. Greek Salad, Blue Cheese 驚訝地比較易入口, 包著沙律的葉子, 有少訐醋味道, 濃烈的味道, 留少少在口中, 其他夾著菜吞下. 非常....
談天說地中, 有好笑的, 有吹天蹲地的, 有天方夜談的, 一張大長檯, 有包場的感覺. 興盡, 結帳時...原來已是11點.

上午茶
時間尚早加上天氣唔穩定,出面沒人坐喺度,我地就可以恣無忌憚咁揀位坐。
因為一陣約咗人食lunch,所以就揀咗個三文治食,裏面有煙火腿、芝士、蕃茄、西生菜及蛋黃醬,即使兩塊包烘過,扐上手都重好實淨,very good。
飲嘢叫expresso,朋友叫latte,幾好,係貴咗啲。

這裡樓底很高, 氣氛輕鬆. 店有兩層, 頂層放了一張可坐十幾人的大枱, wine cellar 和芝士房也在這層. 被安排坐在一大木枱, 要和人搭枱, 幸好枱夠大, 未致太侷促, 可惜坐椅無靠背, 坐耐了便覺辛苦…
四人點了兩枝半紅酒和幾乎所有在餐牌的食物(因這裡以小食為主, 所以食物種類不多).
我對紅酒認識膚淺, 只知是夜紅酒易入口, 有果味而不澀.
煙火腿香腸拼盤–有西班牙Iberico, 意大利火腿, salami等, 配以法包和醃青瓜和芥辣醬伴吃, 十分滋味. 煙火腿雖不夠油甘, 但不會過咸.
Green Salad清新可口, 特別欣賞green olive stuffed with almond, 青欖不苦澀.
上了芝士房叫主持人幫我們揀了三種芝士, 只記得其中一種是Gruyere, 三種芝士也很香.
Pasta of the day 是露筍牛柳長通粉, 長通粉竟出乎意料中煙韌彈牙.
Cheese Fondue有薯仔粒, 法包粒和蘋果粒, 芝士酒味不重.
Club sandwich我已飽到吃不下了.
但服務認真麻麻, 某些女侍應黑口黑臉, 木口木面, 似乎對外國人態度比較熱情. 是夜一班外國人包子樓上那層, 連在上層的洗手間也一拼包了, 我們如要去洗手間就要出去隔籬姊妹餐廳The Press Room, 但經理初說會帶我們去其實只是說出去轉右啦, 非常無誠意…
友人爭着請客, 大約看到是二千幾元, 在此謝過!

Place for relax
食物水準都幾好, 要了Tomato & Buffalo Mozzarella 及咖啡. 水牛芝士一向係我至愛, 而這裡的都沒有令我失望. 咖啡就好香濃, 我見還有幾個客人買這裡的咖啡豆呢.
