Hutong has been voted many times as one of the best in Hong Kong. This comes as no surprise as dining in this uber chic resto is not only a feast for the palate but also for the eyes. With stunning interiors, the enchanting view of Hong Kong Harbour as backdrop, and food that never fails to please, it is easily one of the best in my list, too.
Crispy Deboned Lamb Ribs - This is absolutely the best! How the chef manages to make the skin so crispy and the meat so tender is a true testament of his masterful culinary skills.
Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Sichuan Red Peppers - Served in a red basket full of red peppers, this dish is so red you sweat just looking at it. And it tastes just as hot as it looks! There is no stopping us though. Bring on the rice, Baby!
Braised Beef Rib Wrapped in Lotus Leaf - Beef is tender but lacking in taste.
“Ma-la” Prawns with Sichuan Chili & Chinese Celery - Prawns are big and juicy, but aside from the spiciness, there is really nothing special about the flavor.
Spicy Ground Meat with String Beans - This is what surprises me most. A rather simple dish but done exceptionally well. I can eat bowls and bowls of rice with it.

今年公司annual dinner黎咗呢到食。入到去既第一個感覺係環境好靚﹐個view好靚﹐d燈光暗得黎真係岩岩好架咋﹐個維港夜景睇得好清楚。果晚我哋食set (HK$880/person): 頭盤 雲開白玉 - marinated scallops topped with fresh pomelo (清清地﹐帶子幾鮮甜) 聖旨到 - bamboo clams steeped in Chinese rose wine & chili padi (聖子個汁幾特別﹐有小小辣﹐好食) 白沙春露 - green asparagus with white sesame dipped (露筍清甜配上有d辣既芝麻﹐感覺特別)
海鮮 霸王蝦 - stir-fried prawn with salty egg yolk & crab roe (即黃金蝦﹐咸蛋份量適中﹐亦唔油膩﹐蝦無煮過龍﹐且夠爽夠甜) 見龍在田 - mandarin fish fillet in a sea of crispy yellow bean (桂花魚本身爽但唔太甜﹐不過醃料搭夠)
菜 乾扁四季豆 - wok-fried string bean with dried chili & minced pork (出奇地唔油膩﹐肉碎亦炒得好乾身﹐但咸得制﹐送白飯一流) 白玲瓏 - shrimp & pork dumpling poached in superior soup (灌湯餃﹐好食)

Service ok.. waiter 人數夠﹐而且英文唔錯﹐記得所有食物名稱﹐起每一道菜都有介紹。連飲既茶(當晚係桂花茶)既英文都知﹐仲識串添。同其他食評講既一樣﹐book台時講明9點要交台(我哋book 7點)﹐當晚都唔full﹐我覺得無咁既必要﹐不過我哋坐到9點多d都走啦﹐其間無人趕我哋﹐都ok啦。不過好多餐廳都無硬性規定幾點交台﹐我覺得走得高檔路線﹐一晚做一輪都不為過呀﹐等人食得舒服d。兩個鐘真係岩岩好架咋﹐想食飽坐多陣傾下計都唔夠時間。
1) My company did some functions in this restaurant and the experience are not bad. So I thought I can bring my family to dinner on my bday. I booked a table for 4pax 2 weeks before and requested a window seat. The lady said she can't confirmed but will mark it down for me. When I arrived, they can't even find my booking and bring me to a non-window seat. I asked them and they said all window seats are full, but there were only 5 tables in the whole restaurant are seated (only 1 window table is seated). Later in the night, I found all window seats are occupied by foreigners. Be frank, I don't think all the foreigners booked the window seats 3 weeks before~
2) All staffs have no smile and in rude manner at all time. Don't know if they had any training! We were pushed to finish everything asap and they picked up the empty dish once I picked up the last piece for all time.
3) There was one appetizer, we haven't finished, half plate full before our main courses came on the table. The waitress came by suddenly to pick up our appetizer and pushed us to share/finished that appetizer. We all just shocked and asked her to put the plate down. Why push us to finish it? They can continue to serve main courses since there are spaces on table and this is not a western restaurant. They should not pushed us to finish everything as quickly as possible and make us leave early!
3) After all the main courses, they asked us if we want anything else, we said no, then they gave us the dessert menu. There are nothing special that we want, so we would like to have the bill instead. (Was already really pissed by their service at that time)Then, the waitress said we haven't reached the minimum charge. I said then why don't they remind us about minimum charge when we first walked in, when we ordered food, or when they asked if we still want anything? There were no signage or no people to remind us about this minimum charge thing! They had cleaned up the whole table including our chopsticks and tea already when they said this. I mean we can order one more main course to fill the minimum at the first place!
4) I finally asked the manager to come and talk to me. He didn't even bother to give me any response during the whole conversation. He was just slience and didn't care at all!
Not sure why there is so many bad comments for this place.... I was there last night for a valentine's dinner and it was perfect!
1. Environment: The Chinese environment for the western taste. the little decorations and details were done well. I particularly like the decor on the table... and of cos, the fantastic view of harbour is the main selling point.
2. Taste: Good! Pretty standard Chinese good food. Of cos you can argue that it is the best, which I agree, but it was definitely good enough to be called good food.
3. Service: Well, I saw a lot of comments about the discrimination of Chinese and stuff. And I have to say, I am Chinese but I spoke english, not sure if that makes a different... but I didn't see any problem for the chinese couple sitting near me who speak cantonese. The waiters are very nice and they asked if we need help to take picture when I was trying to take pics for my bf.
4. Price: Well, it was valentine's day, it was one of the best view in the world.. it was expected to be expensive. But still i think it is worth it for a one time affair.
5. Others: The toilet is really scary! lol... the windows is a little dirty (that I agree!)
I have to say, sometimes the comments are very subjective, but I guess when you are nice and put on a smile to the people who serve you... chances are you are going to get good service...
I booked the table of 4 around 2 weeks ago and want to request for the window seat, the receptionist said that she cannot promise and will remark on the booking. We arrived half hour earlier than the booking time (around 6:30) and want to get the better seat. The restaurant only have serve 7 table at the time which we arrive. The receptionist said the window are all fully booked and not available, but we saw 5 table of window seat are arranged to the foreginers and all the other window seat table are empty. For the rest of the 2 hours dinner time and the restaruant only arranged the foreginers to the windows seat (if you are chinese, you come with foreginers and you will get the window seat table). If you are speaking cantonese (whatever you are ABC,BBC,CBC), then you will arrange to the NON-window seat. I get very disappointed and discrimiate impression from this restaurant. They should mentioned to the customer when they are making reservation, they are only welcome blue eyes, blonde hair and english speaking customers.
My mother read about the restaurant in a restaurant guide and would like to try it out, so we booked a table and arrived there around 7pm. There weren't a lot of customers yet, perhaps because the time was still early.
The environment was nice and the harbour view was magnificent! We could enjoy the laser show just by sitting there. But the lights were quite dim, so it was hard to read their menus. Moreover, they designed their restaurant in the Chinese style, so they've used wooden chairs like the old days. Those chairs are just too heavy and difficult to move around. So it was kinda uncomfortable for sitting.
I ordered a pot of jasmine tea. So so. All the dishes were named in a 'special' way in Chinese that you have to read the English description to understand what the dish really is. =.= We ordered crab soaked in wine, stir-fry vegi and a stir-fry prawns. The crab was yuck! It's the worst one I've ever eaten. There was two small crabs in the dish, so there weren't much to eat, and the taste of the wine was too strong. I couldn't quite take the second bite. The other two dishes were quite good; can definitely try the prawns, big and juicy. My mother had a bowl of "si zhun" noodles, seems quite good as well.
There is also a time limit for eating there, approx. 2 hours. The waiters come by every now and then to ask you if there's anything else you'd like to order. A little bit pushy by the end of our meal.

可以不試,一試就夠
禮拜二晚訂了8:30,窗邊位full晒了!?我們被安排到較後的位置,但仍然是可以睇到海景的,還附加了西人好受落的維港激光匯演。
環境:好黑,好多雀籠,罷設的傢私好dup本是必然啦,環境不用說了,上得去北京道1號食飯不是有8成都是為了那維港景。(但老老實實對於香港人的我就沒什特別,食飽去走轉星光大道一樣精彩。) 敗處是洗手間!好懷舊但好髒呀救命。門關上了,看到出面囉大哥。
服務:Menu內的名字出神入化,字字鏗鏘。叫waitress姐姐稍作介紹一下,她把英文併音翻釋成中文然後讀了一次。好,最後還是由我們自己挑好了。
菜色如下(它們那化名已經不記得了): 炸羊肉、乾扁四季豆,話梅蝦,酸甜骨,墨魚汁豆腐,蝦醬炒飯,坦坦麵。一共7樣, 有好幾樣都是有Recommend Logo的。 其中炸羊肉和話梅蝦比較出色,蝦醬炒飯都ok,其它的水準普通,不覺得好味道就是。那個坦坦麵最離譜,一碗小小的份量夠膽死賣$88!Fine,問題是,和翡翠小籠飽差不多囉。
重點在此:我們5個人,叫了5個主菜+一飯一麵,份量恰好。到差不多吃完的時候,waitress遞上Dessert menu,看過後覺得沒興趣便叫埋單。 點不知這個時候waitress姐姐先跟我們說,原來這裡有min. charge! $300 per person。我大叫wtf!? 當然,我沒有衝口而出。但我保留這個權利
最後,我們局住order多三客甜品:好一個萍步青雲 - 炸萍果卷、炸芋泥和酒釀丸子。
甜品味道不錯,但如果一早知道的話,我們還是會多點兩個主菜來instead喇。
總括一下:胡同都是走西人路線,那晚所見,看不到有香港人。

我們6點多到達, 朦朧的香港維港景色實在非常美, Waiter 問我們要still or sparkling water, 十分西化($75 一小瓶). 我們點了四道菜.
1. 鴛鴦戲水 - 是乳鴒 - 一開為二, 一邊炸, 一邊酒浸. $188 實在貴得過份.
2. 果木燒牛 - 其實是牛肉粒+大蒜+蔥, 味道非常好, 但$268 也真是貴
3. 草綑牛骨 - 是荷葉包牛腩,, 牛腩爽口帶荷葉味,幾特別, 但$388 就貴特驚人!
4. 干偏四季豆 - 幾辣 $128
8 點維港激光會, 需然已經睇過好多次, 但今次在胡同睇, 又真的好靚.
8成食客都是鬼, 其餘一成是亞洲遊客, 一成是本地人.
食物質素很好, 服務也不錯, 裝修非常特別, 價錢的確貴, 但給客人的意外驚喜, 是值回票價的.

環境一流
間餐廳氣氛很好, 雖然黑"mug-mug", 但出面維港景色望得很清楚! 門口亦佈置得好靚! 所有"吉"的檯都有一個雀蘢放著, 幾得意的! 餐廳又會輕聲地播放著中國音樂, 令人感覺很舒服!
餐廳侍應的態度亦不俗, 但一走過來就是先說國語或英文, 果然是"遊客至上"!
當晚叫了:
- 頭盤: 象拔蜆/ 白雲卷
- 主菜: 龍蝦 (炒的, 有d辣)/ 乾扁四季豆(真是很乾的, 完全沒有油, 然後旁邊放鹽及辣椒粉比人調味, 很不錯的!)
- 兩個花茶
每人消費約500元..

洋人眼中的中國特色
精美的洗手間門口!
出食評之時剛好得知這裡是米芝蓮一星店,可以這樣說,不奇怪。
如果我選地方吃川菜,不會選這裡,純粹是公關大員的傑作。事實上,這裡古色古香的環境,超靚的180度維港景致,又實在會令好多人嚮往。至於食物,不是說不好,而是以這個價錢,還可更好。
十人來吃,要了套餐,也懶得想。菜色方面,分「茗餚」、「御宴」、「鄉間野菜」、「家常麵點」及「甜品」幾個環節。中國人吃飯,當然喜歡一起分吃,但跟鬼佬吃,又好像是分好菜較為企理一點。在這方面,這裡是完全可以配套得到的,菜色分得快手又平均,很妥當。
「茗餚」是前菜,有四款。醉雞卷沒有酒香又實實的,不見坐處;涼伴鮑魚是甜美的鮑魚絲加上香菜及蔥,好吃又豪華;扁豆干絲混上了冬菇汁,清清的,不錯;還有一味是辣辣的螲子,蟶子很爽甜,但川菜用上蟶子,硬是覺得在西貢吃海鮮似的;
「御宴」是幾道主菜,豆酥桂花魚取了個名字叫「見龍在田」,吃起來豆酥鬆脆之餘,欠缺一點香味。桂花魚一向只是肉爽,味道沒有什麼個性的,洋人客人卻甚喜歡;「金蟬脫殼」是炸龍蝦仔,用上炸辣椒、洋蔥及炸蒜蓉蓋之,要了加辣的,吃起來真的幾辣,大家也眉飛色舞;燒牛肉是將牛柳切粒,但燒得熟了一點,偏韌了;「長城」是京燒羊肉,將羊肋起肉,下油炸之,上檯一字排開,大家也看得開心。羊是脆口好吃,下酒一流,不過就是幾貴的一道下酒菜色;
菜蔬是竹笙扒菠菜,芡下得重手,不像是川菜,是粵菜的手法吧;麵點是做得靚靚的蝦肉湯包,但外皮是硬的,洋人不懂吃,將醋加入上湯,骨碌骨碌的吃得大讚好。我吃了餡,也不花胃納了;甜點是碗豆黃併紅豆糕,俱好吃,個人而言,喜歡碗豆黃多一點,黃豆味很香。
我們坐在房內,四個侍應貼身侍候,服務是很好的。但這裡空間與空間的間隔其實只是一塊紗,所以如果隔離檯嘈起上來,是如坐出面一般嘈吵的。
又酒又汽水又支裝水,埋單每人八百三,以這個價錢,真的純吃環境。
所以,是次的食評就只有環境相,破天荒一幅食物照也不落,因為那才是來這裡的原因。

扮大牌, 扮巴閉, 香港不是只有一間餐廳!!!
大家都知"胡同"唔係平價茶餐聽, 每人消費連酒水都起碼要$500以上. 已經提前兩個星期book位, 希望同男友去慶祝生日, 想book 7點半, 但他要我一定要7點到9點走!! 或者9點半才入座, 11點交台? 而家去canteen食飯呀?! 限時限刻!!
如果"胡同"想走高擋路線, 收得咁ge價錢, 就要令食客可以舒舒服服咁enjoy它的食物, 否則想趕鴨仔, 做多幾倫的話, 就要減價做到大眾化.
人客唔係奉旨要去尼道食!!
連booking都咁差, 唔使食都知服務唔方好, 大家望下其他人的食評就知啦!
算! 去其他餐廳洛!!

四人檯都要等到九點半先有,因為任何時候都要book檯,雖則係星期四,但檯都俾人book到九點半先有,一食就食左兩個鐘。整體服務都唔錯,不過上菜就真係耐左少少,四個人叫左九個餸兩個甜品,聽落好似好多,但樣樣都係一般size,唔似廣東菜咁大大碟。九樣餸入面,我最愛就係個羊,烤到皮脆肉嫰,係極品,其他就失色左少少,而且偏咸,去到最後甜品,以芋蓉及蘋果圈作結尾,非常好味!
特別一提,佢地裝飾好中國,周圍都有雀籠,尤其係個toilet,好有Halloween感覺!

總結食物質數好好, 但當晚個女 waiterest 黑口黑面, 完全無笑容, 以前好好多, 要加以改善, 環境就一流, 我地坐正中間窗邊, 180度海景夜景盡入眼簾, 用這個價錢, 享受美食, 環境, 氣氛, 值唔值得, 就見仁見智, 以前幫襯過要兩個鐘後交枱, 可能昨天是星期三, 同訂左8:30pm, 所以無趕客, 如果無時間限制, 會再去.

全晚最激氣既係服務。個waiterest嚴重種類歧視。我哋7點半到。講明話9點半交枱。但係8點3,食咗唔夠半個鐘,已經有人不停喺係身邊行黎行去。每三分鐘倒一次茶,不停問仲有冇野叫,啲野黎齊未。話咗俾佢知有需要會話佢知,但係平靜咗十分鐘又黎過。
佢催我哋嗰陣時全店起碼有7張吉枱,而且冇人等位。都唔知佢預早個幾鐘趕客為o物。
最奇既係,佢用咗8成時間"侍候"我哋張枱。但係隔離枱班鬼佬食完成粒鐘齋坐都冇人理。唔知係唔係個waiterest英文太差唔識"提"佢哋要交枱呢?
唔好話去其他酒店,俾同樣價錢,D服務會好佢n倍。自問去一間普通餐都唔會早個幾鐘趕客。

不倫不類,呃鬼騙神
大廳燈光昏暗,房間恐怖布置,燈光暗睇不清食品,稱北京菜,但道道菜都有泰國菜的-香茅味,食著一晚沒食到一樣北京味的菜,要片皮鴨上的是油炸鴨,可能因香港本地客沒油水,巴不得讓你快走人,服務態度應付式的,不值得幫襯,討氣....

My first time there ...
The environment was nice and the harbour view was magnificent! We could enjoy the laser show just by sitting there. But the lights were quite dim, so it was hard to read their menus. Moreover, they designed their restaurant in the Chinese style, so they've used wooden chairs like the old days. Those chairs are just too heavy and difficult to move around. So it was kinda uncomfortable for sitting.
I ordered a pot of jasmine tea. So so. All the dishes were named in a 'special' way in Chinese that you have to read the English description to understand what the dish really is. =.= We ordered crab soaked in wine, stir-fry vegi and a stir-fry prawns. The crab was yuck! It's the worst one I've ever eaten. There was two small crabs in the dish, so there weren't much to eat, and the taste of the wine was too strong. I couldn't quite take the second bite. The other two dishes were quite good; can definitely try the prawns, big and juicy. My mother had a bowl of "si zhun" noodles, seems quite good as well.
There is also a time limit for eating there, approx. 2 hours. The waiters come by every now and then to ask you if there's anything else you'd like to order. A little bit pushy by the end of our meal.
