The Nile Egyptian Flavours (已結業)

好久無食中東菜，上openrice,找到此間，又好似不太貴，在soho巡一圈，走回來。餐牌，頭盤一見沙甸魚，$85,底喎，上碟黑蚊蚊，燶些，但得细4片，沙律菜及中東沙律醬伴碟，有三塊中東包（手掌大），熱辣辣，ok。沙甸魚略咸及重味。waiter介绍羊肉好嫩好tender，Lamb tagine$185, 上枱都是黑蚊蚊，但真是嫩，用7对長銻碟盛上，中東菜多香料，佢也不例外，重口味。叫多客中東包$10，以為有2-3塊，失望1塊。要揀沙律，因我們看餐牌好久，唔好意思，急忙見到fig以為是pig,燒豬肉沙律，誰知上枱後，是新鮮毛花果沙律，切開一半擺5角及中間有些乳駱(芝士)係上面，即共2粒半，其他沙律菜好少，好貴啫，收$110，第一次食新鮮無花果，林林地，甜甜地，好味，惠康20幾元有5~6粒。嘗試未必成功，但曾經都試過。就好似愛情，唔試點知是苦，是甜！

Walked by early on a Sunday evening and were attracted by the menu. Tamer, the chef/manager was very welcoming. Appetizers were excellent, and the hummus was well seasoned and accompanied by a nicely spicy Harissa. We shared the mixed grill platter for two and it was outstanding.  The vegetarian soup and cous cous accompaniment was the highlight. The seasonings were very good. Wine & beer selections were good. Unfortunately, the taps weren't working so we could not try the Egyptian draft beer. D

Friday night, 同朋友食完dinner特登黎呢間nite bar 飲野。 呢間bar食埃及菜，夜晚9：30後主打shisha. 呢度環境好有異國風情，唔算好大間，但好多人，等左好一陣先有位。本身嗌左一杯apple martini, 但好甜！可能因為做開埃及菜啦。 所以我之後都係keep住叫啤酒算。Shisha 就叫左apple mint 同kiwi mint. 味道黎講個人中意apple mint 多啲， 但kiwi mint 個個texture好啲。呢道好大冷氣好大風，所以玩唔到shisha tricks。飲到咁上下有肚皮舞表演睇啦！表演既係一個非常有份量非常豐滿既外國人舞者，佢著得非常性感，但跳得都幾好睇，如果你接受唔到呢種視覺衝擊就勸你夜啲黎。飲到悶嗌左啲snacks, 由於老闆幫我地話事，我唔知呢幾道菜叫咩名。有個好似炸粉條包住芝麻再點醬既，咬開入面好香香草味，佐酒一流！春卷就一般，冇乜得別，佐酒小食。仲有一個叫naan, 係中東包。好好食！！！！熱辣辣好軟熟！！！！！點個啲醬又係好好食。

I noticed this place when I was walking around in Soho, and got a chance to try it on an early Sunday evening. Our group of 4 ordered the babaganosh, hummus, sardines, stuffed grapes and the mixed grill (for 2). The food was delicious! The babaganosh and hummus were very fresh, and the stuffed grapes were warm and delicious. The bread was also really warm and soft. The mixed grill also came with couscous and a vegetable sauce that were both very good. Highly recommended. I'll be back!

So months ago a friend and I were strolling around the Soho area and came across a Middle Eastern/Turkish restaurant. We were checking out the menu outside the entrance when suddenly the owner walked out from the restaurant to greet us. We had a small conversation and found out that he actually also owns Sahara (which I believe is pretty famous?) as well as a new Egyptian restaurant just down the block. Made a reservation for 4 for my friend's birthday, requested a table next to the door for people watching. Staff greeted us with a warm smile. Liked it already --- (mostly because I recognize the chairs from Antipasto and the lamps from Sahara --- and the guy from Le Souk, the places which always offer good food at reasonable prices, comp. shots and a lot of laughters.Had their pom salad which was very refreshing.
