I came here to tea last Christmas and that was why the tea set had some sugar made Christmassy decorations on the pastries. The presentation was cute and lovely, and every one of the savories and sweets tasted fine and distinctive. The only complaint about the afternoon tea here was the service; we had to wait for quite a while before the food was served. The list of teas they provide are reasonably plentiful, they also have cold drinks too. The iced teas are highly recommended because the ice they use aren’t just regular water frozen ice but they actually used frozen tea ice cubes as ice so that the tea won’t taste watery by the end of the meal. (THUMBS UP) The scones were amazing, still warm and fresh when served. They provided two different types of fruit jams for us to choose from. But the gingerbreads were a little bit too tough and dry; it was kind of hard to swallow. The savories tier included:
~Smoked salmon and salmon roe sandwiches with dill spread- it tasted fresh and the spread matched super well with the salmon.
~Crabmeat and Avocado mini burgers- I fell in love with these on my first bite, they were light and fluffy and it seemed like I could still taste the seawater freshness from the crabmeat. Crabmeat and avocado are perfect matches; it does the magic whenever these two ingredients are being paired together in dishes.
~ Foie Gras Pate on Toast- The foie gras was rich and smooth; it almost felt like butter melting in my mouth when I ate it.
~Beetroot tart- At first it tasted kind of weird for me, but as I had my second and third bite, the taste of fresh beetroot slowly got to my taste buds. The tart crust was crunchy it was a well balance of texture for the soft beetroot filling. The desserts looked really nice, they were all decorated with a Christmas theme and I am not quite willing to break the pastries into pieces because the presentations were just too beautiful. Some of the pastries were a bit too sweet, but other than that they tasted incredible. I’d give this tea set a 4.5/5 with a half point deducted for the slow service, but overall I really enjoyed the evening there relishing tea with good friends.
