So obviously my mom and I weren’t full from that teensy bowl of wonton noodles at Mak Man Kee so we headed over next door to Australia Dairy Company for a second lunch.Needless to say this place is super famous in Hong Kong. It’s famous for their food, their quick (and horrible) service; it’s famous for being famous in a way. Needless to say this place is super famous in Hong Kong. It’s famous for their food, their quick (and horrible) service; it’s famous for being famous in a way. On any given day you’re guaranteed to tons of suitcases parked in front of the entrance, owned by mainland tourists who come here for a last lunch before they take the ferry at TST (or so I assume)
There was a 10 people line at the door when we got there but it only took us 5 minutes to get in – that’s how efficient they are.
And yes, everything everyone says about this place is true – as soon as you sit down at your table with strangers (don’t ever expect to get a table all to yourself here), the waiter asks you what you want. You better figure what you want to order before you even look at the menu LOL
We ordered a scrambled eggs sandwich ($15) and a steamed milk ($23) to share. As expected, the food came 30 seconds after we ordered hahaha -I am not exaggerating but this is the BEST scrambled egg sandwich I’ve ever had!
-The bread isn’t toasted but it’s SOOOOO fluffy! It’s like biting into a very soft pillow ^_^
-And oh my goodness the scrambled eggs is soooo good! Silky smooth, thick, rich & well-seasoned. They must have added a lot of stuff (i.e. things that make you fat) into it that makes it taste so good. Biting into the soft bread with the delicious egg inbetween was heavenly!
-The sandwich was also surprisingly filling a good value for $15!
-The steamed milk was also delicious – rich, smooth and milky. I must say I’ve had better steamed milk elsewhere though, but the steamed milk here is worth ordering as well.
On a separate occasion I went back for a quick lunch and ordered a Cha Siu Macaroni Soup ($22) -I don’t know how they manage to make simple things so good. The cha siu wasn’t chewy and stringy as I expcted – it was actually quite tender and flavourful!
-The macaroni they use is a little different from the ones other places use. It’s slimy and very thick, which goes well with the broth.
If you haven’t been there before, I really don’t see what’s keeping you. Cheap and delicious food, as long as you can put up with mean waiters giving you looks for being too slow XD (Seriously I think this is the only place in HK where I can stand horrible service)
