But for gals , first thing come to high tea again ! To be frank , look at that stand can ease pain and released ! Three on canton provide two high tea choice sets , one was Chinese inspired and the other one was Western classic . For me , no doubt the final choice goes to Western one , tea set provides 8 savories with scones and tea . At the price of 308 (sightly add up 10 % compare to the old days ), but still very reasonable with that standard .
Upper layer - Salty delicacies !
I was quite impressed for the upper layer . Both salty snacks use finest ingredients . Lobster and mango salad with midori dressing presented in a cup . This shoot glass is very refreshing and surly wheat the petite ! Lobster is fresh and very favorable with the firm juicy meat. The lobster goes well with the mango salad . The whole grass contain mayonnaise , a mango scoop , lobster and crab row were sprinkles on top to complex the texture and even enhance the flavor to be more tasty ! The foie gras toast are up to standard too . Foie gras is freshly made , still in a hot condition although we have the lobster salad first . Foie gras is in a very thick slice that 's really surprise me ! Although the quality is not that smooth and rich , but the foie gras portion is big that still keep it taste luscious . The mango chutney was spread on top , add a hint of sweetness and sourness in order to balance the foie gras oiliness and heaviness . Toasted brioche is crispy and the whole thing is a success to maximum your temptation !
Medium layer - Desserts
The sweet treats aim to weaken the strongest willed . However , overall performance is under average . There are four kinds of desserts in total . The lemon sable tart come to a thin crust with a macaron on top . The macaron is a big failure . The look and tastes are both artificial , I can't even tastes the lemon flavor and almond hint . The content is not flaky and plump , doesn't seems authentic . Meringue on side is over sweet too . The overall texture is flat and insipid. Chocolate profiteroles are the best . Chocolate spread on the puff top . The sauce form to a crispy crunch , match well with the soft smooth cream content. The puff itself is buttery enough and the texture is flaky too . Cold enough, appreciate . The tiramisu is not typical , the layer is a bit sole , cream , crumbs and
coffee power on top .
The overall texture is too soft and the layer is not that distinctive . Typical tiramisu should add in lady fingers to enhance the spoonful richness and the tiramisu is not in a dense coffee hint . Lastly , The mango cream tart is too sour . The base is a big soggy and the cream inside is not smooth . Overall taste is not arousing . The mango cubes on top is extremely sour that out of the balance . Disappointed .
Bottom level - Sandwiches
Salty snacks are always better than desserts . The beetroot and orange cured salmon are all nicely placed on a blinis . Look adorable and taste extremely delicious ! All ingredients blend well in your mouth , the blinis is spongy that even enrich the texture and urge to be it own unique temptation . The sour cream and fish roe are favorable and add a hint of saltiness, very refreshing and interesting .I think this delicate chewy snack is the highlight of the tea . However , rare roasted beef and sauce gribiche sandwiches are tasteless . Wheat sandwiches and the content both are too dry and the beef was sliced too thin . The seasonings and sauce doesn't help and the beef itself is not in a good quality .
Mini Sones
Scones with cotton cream and jam are up to standard. I think it's a good way to provide mini scones like this , so that it is not that filling and reduce waste . The scones are soft inside in a buttery foundation. However the layer is not crispy enough , and due to the flour production and yeast , so it makes the scones even more soggy that will stick between your teeth while you enjoying a small bites .Cotton cream and Jam
Cotton cream is light and smooth , I especially appreciate they use individual packages for the jam . Brands like " beerenberg " are well known for its jam , both strawberry and orange paste are not that sweet but fruity enough with the pulp bites. The jam texture is not that watery or liquid one , it's more like in a jelly form , different from normal one .
Earl grey Tea
Tea selections are commonplace and normal. So I pick my favorite again - Earl grey. Nothing special since they use Twining's tea bags . Something as usual . Twining's tea is still tastes lighter than normal , not that dense and mellow .
Service overall is attentive , but not caring and alerted enough . Take a example , we order Earl grey tea while we take the high tea order . While the high tea stand is served , the tea still haven't come yet , the waitress ask us what tea we are going to order again. It's a bit awkward actually . However , the general performance is still worth for a try with that price range .
