I ordered a kimchi pork and tofu soup with rice for dinner. When it arrived, I had a bite of their tofu and realized that it was sour. Tofu isn't supposed to taste sour unless it's spoiled so I told the manager. Instead of thinking that it was an issue, the manager shrugged and told me "the tofu is supposed to be sour" then walked away . I started looking at other ingredients in the soup, only to find that a piece of tofu had mold in the corner and a piece of rice cake had black stuff in the middle of it (probably gone bad).

Manager finally got some sense knocked into him and cancelled our kimchi soup order. He even tried to give us a new one but seriously, are you kidding me?

Don't go. Hygiene and service is nonexistent and food isn't that good anyway. There are better Korean places around.

If you want the one of the best Hong Kong-styled milk tea in the world, you must drink one at Tsui Wah. It’s authentic stuff. As you may already know, real Hong Kong-styled milk is silky smooth. The balance between the tea and milk is just perfect. Apparently when Sharon had it during her summer in Hong Kong, she closed her eyes when she had her first sip after a year of no Tsui Wah milk tea.

The second thing everyone should get at Tsui Wah is their hot Crispy Bun with Condensed Milk. You can treat it as a dessert but I had it as an appetizer. It’s an ordinary dish but it’s hard to make and perfect it at home.

I had the Fried Noodles with Shrimp and XO sauce. I personally thought it was just “meh”, but my girlfriend is absolutely obsessed with this dish. For a Hong Kong cafe, the shrimps were huge and deliciously topped with shrimp eggs. Adding a bit of XO sauce into the fried noodles or “lo mein”, this is one of the backbones of Tsui Wah’s.

This Beef with Curry was good! We were supposed to “share” this dish, but I had most of it. As I mentioned in a previous post, this curry is actually hot! I think that Canadian restaurants may be too paternalistic of their customers. In Hong Kong, I have had curry that actually makes me sweat. The restaurant gave generous portions of beef. It was a deal!

The island getaway from the metropolitan lifestyle in Hong Kong. Honi Honi Tiki at Lan Kwai Fong is the only island-themed lounge and bar in Hong Kong and every night is a busy tropical fiesta. Accents of bamboo, wood, and tropical colours along with their dimmed lights removes you from the bustling skyscrapers in Hong Kong. I would highly recommend making reservations before going. Also if you can, try and stay indoors because the outdoor fans spraying mini showers at you won’t save you from the dreadful heat.
One thing I didn’t get to try this time was their fish bowl size drinks including “Honi Honi All The Way” and “Around the World” which both cost from HKD900 and above. These massive spirits are perfect for bigger parties of 5-10 people, so I would highly recommend it. *Their drinks are also quite watered down in my opinion, so tell them to add less ice if your drink has any.
The Curse of the Monkey was probably the most legit. drink I had that night. The photo isn’t that clear but the cup is shaped like a monkey with a straw sticking into its head. This fruity drink is concocted out of fresh pineapple juice, jasmine syrup, Pampero Blanco rum, strawberry purée, Jax coco and strawberry liqueur.
Setting fire to my drink - Tropical Storm with 42 Below Vodka, passion fruit purée, elderflower syrup, fresh guava nectar and strawberry purée. I can sum this drink as the passion fruit cocktail.
The Fakecation and the name is perfectly suitable for Honi Honi. The Fakecation is created with a mixture of St Germain liquor, Angostura 1919 8yr rum, fresh pineapple juice, fresh egg white, lemon juice and orgeat syrup. Regardless of it’s tropical look, this drink was watered down and there was way too much egg foam.
Incredibly cute shots in mini tiki shot glasses is a must get at Honi Honi. The blue one is the Tiki Stron” made of Captain Morgan Spiced rum, Wray and Nephew over proof rum, banana liqueur, orange juice and lime juice. The dark yellow is Tiki Fruity is basically a small cup of fruit juice spiked with Peter Cherry Heering liqueur, passion fruit liqueur, and 42 Below vodka.

I ordered a meal combination, and it came with the Hong Kong-styled milk tea. Seriously, who can say "no" to Hong Kong-styled milk tea?

Second, it also came with a vegetable soup. Mind you, Chinese vegetable soup could be very different than a Western vegetable soup or "borsch". I thought the soup was flavourful with a mix of spices thrown into a tomato soup with soft vegetables.

As for the main, I ordered the Baked Fusilli with Pork Loin and Herbs (HKD 58). It sounded fancy but well...it was terrible. Just terrible. The white (Portuguese?) sauce was far too thick for my preference and why is it so grossly white? The pasta was a bit cold and the pork was a bit off. Did I like it?...No, I'm not even sure what to make of it any more.

The Principal was e.x.p.e.n.s.i.v.e. but was it worth a try? I would say that this is a one time only dining experience especially with their lunch menu at the price of HKD330 for three courses. The Principal is the definition of fine dining in Hong Kong and lunch at this Michelin starred restaurant was a pure treat since my friend paid for me. Side note - I didn't take a picture of the "Nutella with shaved vanilla and shortbread" but it was the best dessert I have ever had...my God.
Lunch at The Principal was an hour of elegance. The presentation of everything was luxurious and classy, the service was beyond professional and the food was a sumptuous work of art.

For the appetizer, I got the Foie (foie gras) with coco beans, watercress purée and balsamic vinegar. Perhaps I have weak taste buds but I couldn't taste the coco beans in any part of this dish. On the other hand, I liked how the balsamic vinegar lightened the taste and texture of the foie gras.

As for the main, I ordered Beef which is Sirloin beef with roasted potatoes, pearl onions, romaine lettuce, and roast tomato. I loved the sauce but honestly, this is more of less your average steak dinner with roasted potatoes and Romaine lettuce.

The staff were friendly and patient with our orders so everything was going great! The “Set Antipasti” was set at HKD145 for an appetizer, pasta, and home-made blueberry gelato that was magnifique and cooling in the Hong Kong heat.

I had the ice team with lemon, a Caesar salad and a pasta. 

For the pasta I ordered the spicy and creamy “Farfalle Salsiccia” with peas, cheese and tomato sauce. Since I love butterfly pasta this was a must get for me and adding the extra spicy flavour was much better than eating the normal tomato sauce. By the time I was half way done with the pasta, I was downing water…the after effect was pretty hot!

Expensive burgers for about HKD80 to HKD100 but so worth it. Shake em Buns is a punny burger spot in Hong Kong located on the Pottinger steps in Central. The restaurant is small and not clean but it gives the whole burger eating an experience. I mean, who eats burgers in a classy way right? Time to get rowdy and messy.
When I was interning in Central I would always see a line up at Shake em Buns. One day I decided that I couldn’t help myself and went to try it. The seats were crammed and everything was in front of you – the kitchen, the eaters, cash register, juice blenders and basically everything you expect to see at a restaurant crammed into a small area. The servers aren’t nice and the burgers take a good 10 – 15 minutes to make but at least we know that it is fresh! By the time I bit into my burger I didn’t care about how disrespectful the servers were.
Their menu is incredibly punny with selections such as “Doggie Style hotdog”, “Gang Bang burger”, “Strip Tease mozzarella strips” and much more. Might as well get a good laugh while reading the menu and away from the horrible service.

For lunch I had the Debbie Does Dallas (HKD72) burger with French fries and a soft drink. The burger had your hot and juicy patty, tomatoes, crunchy lettuce, smothered onions, cheddar cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce poured on. I added my own ketchup and mustard and this burger was Texan food porn in my mouth.

What? A bowl of wonton noodles for HKD24 in Central Hong Kong? Tsim Chai Kee is a must go if you want some authentic Hong Kong king prawn wonton noodles in soup. For that price, I got three to four wontons as big as my palm and they were cooked to juicy and soft. I would actually prefer another type of noodle other than egg noodles but these were moist and the broth was delicious without too much MSG.

I recently went to try ItaMoMo Cafe at Wong Tai Sin. It describes itself as a “Western Italian” restaurant, although I think that its offerings are more “generally Western” than “specifically Italian”. I would put ItaMoMo Cafe on the premium-economy pricing scale; it’s certainly not a low-cost HK-styled restaurant.
First off, I had the Hong Kong-styled Milk Tea —it was a part of the lunch combination that I had. The milk tea tasted a tad bit sweeter than normal but overall it was okay.
One of the dishes we had was the  "Award-Winning Beef Brisket with Curry (HKD 46)." Unlike the curry in Canada, the curry is actually hot. The beef brisket was good in that the meat was lean. There was only one cube of potato, and I hoped for tastier vegetables on the side. The mushrooms was overly cooked but I guess the portion was just about right.
We also had the Portuguese Baked Chicken with Rice (HKD 43). Unfortunately, ItaMoMo ran out of Portuguese sauce, so they used Italian white cream sauce instead. It was okay — nothing exciting. But hey, You’re in Wong Tai Sin! It’s not a very exciting part of Hong Kong in the first place!

Price was absolutely worth it for the lunch set. I had a creamy pumpkin soup and duck with potato scallops but by the time I was finished with my soup, I was already full. Sorry I meant once they gave us their delicious baguette with whatever spread it was, I was full. Love this place and the servers are nice.
