P.B.S. Premium Burger & Sandwich (銅鑼灣)

Being a big fan of Blue Cheese Burgers, quite often it ends up disappointing- where despite it being a nice burger, the blue cheese is minimal - which doesn’t satisfy expectations. I do understand everyone has different tastes so I won’t complain.

I will however praise when I find one that does suit my requirements - and PBS does just that. A decent priced burger - and it does not hold back on the blue cheese - leaving a taste of blue cheese with every bite.

Again, it’s not for everyone - but if you are a fan of blue cheese, I strongly recommend this.

Bun Cha Vietnamese (上環)

Staff member that couldn’t speak English or Chinese and just ignored requests as a result. Instead of asking for help from the others that could.

‘We only accept cash or octopus’ despite 2 signs specifically saying they accept Visa (and the same staff member tried to put his body in front to hide the sign, as if we’re stupid)

Same staff member gave change in as much coins as possible giving $1 $2 - and not letting go off the tray wanting tips (I’m sorry, you’re not getting anything with that type of service)

Just an overall poor experience.

Hungry Fellows (長洲)

Ordered a snack and a drink - given the nature of the restaurant not sure why there was a container charge.

Restaurant was empty; I was with 2 children that were tired and sat while waiting and they rudely asked me to wait outside. I understand if it was packed - but no, it was completely empty.

Reading some of the comments it seems like the same story. Food was average, prices were high and the service was horrid. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

南대門 (尖沙咀)

Let's start of with the positives - at a time where most other Korean restaurants were full and neededaege amounts of waking time - this one still had a table. I am usually wary of these situations but in this case, I thought it may have been its higher costs - looks like I was wrong. The kimchi was also very nice but that's about it.

Look, I am not rich but I am not poor either - needing to pay $20 for a can of soft drink is ridiculous - especially when it is just the usu Coke, Spirte etc. I expect to pay double the price, so $10-12 / but $20 is just greedy. Their beers were $30, and a table nearby remarked that you can get them from 759 for $3. I know money needs to be made, but it just felt that they were ripping you off.

The meat looked ok - a little pricy, but I am wiling to pay a premium for good meat. I ordered a plate that had different kind of beef for $380. I cant even remember what was there, but  it was average meat. I didn't like the sauces either. 

The most frustrating thing was the service. A girl started off helping us cook the meats, and came back every 2 mins helping. Then that was it - we hought she'd be experienced enough to help us - but she didn't come back after that. I'm not completely familiar with this - but when I went to others, they regularly came back and pretty much cooked everything for us - this one left our meat overlooked. 

Here comes the most frustrating part and the part that would most likely never make me want to go again and definitely wouldn't recommend anyone. So when they cook for you, they put on a stack of meat at once - meaning that your meat either becomes overcooked, or some of it becomes cold. When they left us alone, we cooked the meat bit by bit, and every so often, someone would come and attempt to put more meat on, and I kept having to say no. When we did finish our meat, someone instantly packed our plates and asked us if we were finished. The thing is, when she has asked that, I was holding my chop sticks eating the Kim chi, so I said, no I am still eating. I had a seat that faced the door and it looked like 1 group was waiting,possibly more. This kept going on to a point where the cashier came and asked if we wanted the bill, I had had enough and asked her why you and your staff kept pestering. Aren't we allowed to slowly enjoy our meal? And she replied "if there wasn't anyone lining up you could". I'm sorry, that is just ridiculous and I wouldn't even expect that from HK cafes or noodle shops. The thing is, when we walked out, no one was even waiting.

So if you are looking for a good place to eat and enjoy yourself, stay away from here. I can handle overcharging food and drinks, average meat, but I can't handle service like this. So when you see other places full of lines but not this crappy place - it's because they try to kick you out as soon as youve finished your last piece of paying meat.

BRICK LANE Gallery (尖沙咀)

Being a big fan of Butao Ramen, which is nearby, this place is always packed when I look across the road. There are two branches on the same street and both branches usually have a line. This really rose my expectations for this; asa general rule, if there is a line for restaurants, more often than not, it's good (or cheap), especially in places like TST where that are restaurants everywhere.

Having looked at the menu, I decided that things did look good, and the prices weren't cheap, but weren't over expensive either. I was seated at a table outside so I wasn't able to see the environment inside.

All day breakfast - 3 Choices
4/10For the 3 choice breakfast, we choose cheese, (1) sausage and (1) hash brown. It sounds weird typing this as usually there should be an 's' after hash brown and sausage, but in this case there was only one (not saying that there should have been more, just sounds odd when reading). This came with 2 eggs and we chose to have 2 scrambled eggs. This is where points were lost as  the eggs had no flavour at all to them. The hash brown was good, but that was about all. The sausage was very average and the bread also brought no surprises. It is my fault for not asking, but the "cheese" was slices of (fine) cheese, in a little black bowl - was expecting something different, but I guess it did go well with the flavour less eggs (the cheese tasted great). To me, it was a very average breakfast in which everything appeared to be brought; it wasn't expensive, but I felt like I could make this at home at a quarter of the price.

Fish and Chips
5.5/10This is hard to rate, it seemed like it was good, but for some reason we just didn't want to eat it. The thick cut chips were nice, but didn't taste like they were handout (from memory, the menu didn't state so). The fish itself tasted better than other fish but the batter was thick and was hard. The tartare sauce was decent, but again, there was something about it that didn't make it special.

As mentioned, most of the items did seem like you could easily make at home or buy from the supermarkets; but that said, the food quality did seem good. 
Environment 3.5/5
I didn't go inside, but the general environment did seem like a cafe in London or Australia. Nothing special (which isn't always necessary) but still well set out and didn't feel cramped.  
Service 3.5/5
Sitting outside usually leads to being forgotten, but in this case, the staff were generally good and were always happy to refill our water (when we got their attention). In busy places like this, the staff can often be quite rude, but that was not the case here. 
I'm not sure if it was over expectations or picking the wrong menu choices, but both choices were very average and were nothing to make return, especially considering the line ups. I did hear people say that the Eggs Benedict was very nice there (after we had ordered) so maybe that as what brings people back. Don't get me wrong, it certainly isn't an awful place and the prices weren't ridiculous; but from the dishes I had ordered - there wasn't anything that I couldn't get anywhere else so I don't think it is worth lining up for.
