Was looking forward to visit this Korean noodles bar for a while. Finally got some free time to do so. Only few customers during lunch hour. Menu is simple. My friend is pescatarian so not many choices for her. For starters, the only dish she could order was the tofu. Kimchi Dubu $98 Tofu is crispy. Love the korean coleslaw. Not too spicy. A good kick with the tofu. Unfortunately the tofu wasn’t hot enough. Chicken Cartilage $98 Crispy! But a bit dry. Go well with the kinchi mayo. Crab udon $268 Using snow crab and it’s well seasoned. The sauce is really really rich and creamy. After mixing, it sticks. The staff had warned us it’s very filling. I found it’s quite heavy as well. Sullung $148 The broth is light with strong beef flavour. Not sure about the wagyu slices. I prefer if they have grilled the beef to increase flavour. It’s quite blend but it’s really tender. Noodles is not bad. Overall, not really impressed by the food. Definitely can do better. Starters seem like more attractive than the main. A bit pity.

Time flies! Can’t believe Argo has opened its door for more than 1 year. Interesting story! Anniversary of Argo is the same day as my birthday. What a coincident! Heard they have changed the menu. Finally could squeeze some time to try them out! BBQ and Tonic No.3 London Dry Gin, Vegan Cha Siu Distillate, Fig Leaf, London Essence Tonic I am a big fan of G&T. This interesting version got a smoky flavour and do make me think of bbq pork. So much Fun! Holy Smoke It’s another cocktail with gin. A bit smoky and with pear taste. Another lovely cocktail with Gin! Seed’s love Not sure if I remember the name right. It’s a twist of classic whisky sour. Egg white on top with the pineapple powder. The powder makes me think of those plum powder in Taiwan they put on the fruits. Fried chicken with seaweed Fried chicken is always great here. Great bar snack! Fish sando A mouth full of flavour. Fish fillet with mayo between two perfectly grilled toast. Delicious! Argo is one of my favourite place in Earth for sure. When are we going again?

Had been this Elephant Ground restaurant last time for a breakfast and it was amazing! Always want to come back for lunch. Good deal for set lunch. $290 for 2 course. On top of the set, I ordered Tater Tots from the a la carte menu. Avruga Smoked Caviar, Dill Sour Cream, Tater Tots $125 How fancy is this? Smoky flavour caviar is pretty interesting. Hot tater tots with generous amount of caviar. Hmmmm….. lovely! Lobeter Bisque, Fino Sherry, with Housemade Cheese Flute Generous amount of lobster in the soup. Prefer the soup more creamy. The flute did surprise me! So crispy and go well with the soup. Salmon Fillet, Salmon Skin Chip, green asparagus, Aster Béarnaise Very moist inside, in great temperature. Crispy skin is separated and serve on top of the fillet. Lovely lunch in a great atmosphere and environment. Will definitely visit again for another relaxing lunch.

If you always dine in Wan Chai area, you’ll definitely know there’s few Lasak restaurants in the hood. Saw this new restaurant from IG, asked my friend who lives in the hood to go and check it out for a lunch. Super busy during lunch hour. Expected! Got a table at 1:15pm. Set lunch is a great deal! $98 for a noodles and a drink! Sweet! 3 of us ordered 3 lasak and share 2 snacks, prawn roll and chilli crab bun. I guess I have expected this too much. If the mantou can be in the fryer a bit longer, the bun will be more crispy and hot. Overall not bad for a fusion dish. Here’s the lasak! The first impression was “wow! So creamy!” And it is super creamy! After mixing the paste with the soup, the coconut did balance the chilli out. Compare with the one at Rempah Noodles in the hood, this is more rustic, homey and definitely more creamy. I like it but i found it’s quite heavy and filling. The one in Rempah noodles is more elegant. Both are good, in a different way. I am interested in their bigger plate like chilli crabs. Will give it a try next time!

Got lucky enough to book a lunch through their booking system. Was looking forward to this lunch a month ago. Be seated at 2pm and the crowd was gone. A small restaurant providing around 20 seats. Love the atmosphere. So warm. Staffs are really friendly and polite. You can feel their smiles behind the masks. Salad and steamed egg is included when you order the donburi. I was so surprised and happy to have this colourful salad. So fresh and sweet! Steamed egg is good, up to standard. Ordered grilled ox tongue as well. Well seasoned. Japanese bbq is always great! And here it comes! The omakase sasumi don (deluxe). Staff introduced 15 kinds of seafood one by one. They did check if I took shirako. Not a big fan at all so they changed it to another fish. Sashimi is really fresh. Personally I like the uni and the whelks the best. Sanma and toro is good but not wow! I am not overwhelmed by this bowl. But having a bowl which is full of good stuffs is good enough to please me. I do like the rice. Whole bowl is well seasoned as I didn’t use the soya sauce at all. It’s a pretty decent lunch with this price. Happy day!

As a Ma Wanner, i love to support shops and restaurants in the area. Heard one of my favourite place launching private kitchen dinner. My friend and I signed up right away. $680 for 6 courses dinner Salmon Roe Tart The presentation of first dish already wow me! Salmon roe is compressed with dill oil. Ricotta cheese at the bottom. Dill and salmon is best friends. Their home made brick pastry is well made and crispy. Lovely start! Chestnut soup I love rich, creamy soup. Can’t believe this soup with a creamy texture is vegan. Scallop Generous amount of scallop. Temperature is just right. Love they blend the corn and make it a sauce. Lightly sweet. Red Prawn Risotto Love the chorizo in the risotto. The mayo and parmesan foam go well with the risotto. Red prawn is juicy. Slightly a bit over. Black Cod Fish Like the cauliflower puree underneath. The leek sauce is creamy. Fish is tender. Wish the too can be more crispy. Their.very own product, Ma Wan Cola. Taste really like a coke but with all natural ingredients. Very interesting! We brought this wine for the dinner. Love my choice. Overall, it’s a lovely, interesting dining experience. Great to have something special like this on my island!

Originally I could visit earlier but it was closed due to typhoon. After some negotiations, got reschedule to an acceptable date. So here I am! Tried to reach them via Tai Kwun plaza. Realized there’s no sign at all. I was wandering for 10 mins before I could find the entrance. Arrived early so started the evening with a G&T at their garden. Luca greeted me nicely and served me the welcome champagne. There’s around 20 gin you can select. I had one Sipsmith gin and it was nice! The garden is quite pleasant with lot of plants. It’s a great spot for some drinks and snacks. After a glass, we proceed to the dining room. The dining room is glamorous for sure. They also have some interesting paintings on the wall. A guy approached us and checked if we need some recommendations. But at the end, he actually just read the menu once without introducing or recommending anything. Gillardeau Speciale no.3 It’s no.3 so size is not big. Nothing special. Shima Aji Crudo All my friends know i love aji and i love crudo, ceviche or just sashimi. This is probably the leanest aji i had ever had. The dressing didn’t add any effects to the fish. Can’t taste the freshness, sweetness. Quite disappointed. Prime Rib, served with Yorkshire Pudding Prime rib is crusted with mustard and crispy onion. The crust is good seasoned. The meat is tender. Pretty decant dish. Quality chop house confit potato Oven roasted baby carrot Yorkshire pudding The potato actually is my favourite dish of the night. It’s well seasoned and really crispy. Good match with the prime rib dressing. Chocolate pudding Quite nice but pretty basis. Service is ok but I feel it’s a bit overacting. Overall, i don’t think I will come back for the food again. The historical dining room itself is magnificent. Unfortunately the food can’t pair well with the environment. The garden is a good spot. Maybe I’ll come back for some more gin instead!

Zuma. I just can’t get rid of their lovely terrace. Cut into the chase! Food is standard. Nothing special and wow! But for $998 +10% you can enjoy an all you can eat free flow boozy brunch in their lovely terrace? I guess that’s the reason I keep coming back. Cheers to weekend! Some starters to share. Beef tataki, salmon, and deep fried tofu is pretty good! Dumplings and tempura is pretty standard. But the one surprised me was the mushroom croquettes! Creamy and gooey inside! Love it! Not sure how many rounds I had ordered that! Chicken wing is nice as well! Well seasoned and skin is super crispy! Sushi platter before the main course is served. Flounder sushi is pretty good! Scallop and hamachi is the best on the plate. Oysters are still the same, too “skinny”. For main course, I normally choose Black cod, steak or chicken fillet. Another thumb up is the quality of staffs did improve a lot compare to few years ago! Another reason Zuma is a good spot for boozy brunch!

Since the former Executive Chef Cary Docherty left the Lobster Bar, there’s no one really leading this kitchen. Also heard there’s renovation going on in the kitchen, so they only serving simple dishes at this moment. I guess it’s not a good time to visit? I can’t believe my eyes! Dinner set is $598! In Lobster bar?! What a good deal! Lobster bisque. My favourite soup. Generous amount of fresh lobster. But I do prefer my lobster bisque more creamy and more rich. Roast beef in medium rare. Temperature is spot on. For sides, I picked mashed and creamy spinach. Both was pretty good! The only short was the Yorkshire pudding quite dry. This Banoffee Pie is my thing. Crispy pastry at the bottom. Cream is silky smooth but not too sweet. Love any dessert with banana! After dinner wine at the terrace. Overall, it’s very good deal for a 3 courses dinner in a decent restaurant. Looking forward to to try the dishes after the new kitchen is operated.

Ad hoc meeting my friends on a Wednesday! Never tried the food in QGC so why not try it today? And there’s live music as well! Scallop Ceviche Not many scallop. But it’s a good combination with the green and avocado. The crispy tostada is the one that surprised me. Bavette steak with bone marrow Bone marrow is soso. Bavette is good! Medium rare and tender. They’ll serve you sherry wine with the bone left after finishing the marrow. Pretty fun! Sea bass meunière Skin is super crispy. It’s a bit over but luckily it’s still moist inside. With the live jazz music, it’s a pretty good Wednesday night!
