Al dento soho offers simple Italian cuisine. The décor is cozy and homely. The menu showcases traditional Italian dishes, pasta, pizza to grilled dishes. It is a great atmosphere to enjoy a meal with friends. Perhaps maybe the layout of the restaurant, the tables are slightly crowded and the staffs hardly see diners needed services.

Baby lamb char-grilled and served with rosemary garlic mash with a red wine mint sauce (5/10)
The lamb was cook to perfection, medium, pink. The lamb was full of flavour, yet tender and fairly seasoned. The red wine mint sauce was surprisingly good, never imagine that mint would go with red. However the mash was rather rubbery, very typical in Hong Kong.Seafood Cioppino (2/10)
This is a America famous’ Italian tomato base stewed with mixed seafood (King prawns, clams, mussels, scallop and clay fish). The base was sweet and delicate, infused well with the mixed seafood. However, the mixed seafood was frozen, not like the menu suggested – mixed seafood of the day. Hence, the dish lacked freshness, which was the most important secret to the success of Cioppino. We hardly finished the dish.If you look at the menu, you would think they are rather pretentious. Words they use are annoying, cooked to perfection, full flavoured, grilled to your liking. Maybe is not, but not my thing. The food is genuinely good, which fit well with its price, definitely worth going.

Sichuan Da Ping Huo is a private kitchen, which cooks westernised Sichuan cuisine (not spicy) for a decade already. If you want to try Sichuan food, but you can’t handle the hotness, this is the best place for you. More importantly, this is not just a restaurant; it is also an art gallery.

The owners are a married couple, who are artists. The husband runs the dining room, which displayed his paintings. The wife is a Chinese opera singer and the head chef. As you can imagine, this is a private kitchen, you choice of food are limited, if you are very fussy about food, you can please bugger off.

麻婆豆腐 (6/10)
This is one of Sichuan’s most famous dishes and is also served in Chinese restaurant throughout the world.
The tofu wasn’t the highest quality, wasn’t very smooth. The chef used a fair about of Sichuan peppercorns and crushed it, loved the heat from it. The aroma from the chili bean sauce, chili, garlic and ginger was fantastic. 手拍黄瓜 (4/10)
The cucumber has marinated well in a mixer of rice wine, sugar, vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce. The cucumber have absorbed all the flavour from the marinate. 炒虾球 (5/10)
The tiger prawns were fresh and cooked to perfection, rather crunchy with great flavour. The set lunch has already increased its price from $88 to $100, from empty to a full house in 2 months. More importantly, now you are allow to add more dishes, that the 5 they provided from the set menu.

真串 is located in Soho. It is one of the best yakitori restaurants you can find in Hong Kong. The only problem being is the location is kind of far. I can assure you the quality of food and service is outstanding, especially the boss Thomas. There are more to it, they have a great selection of sake.

The fish was crispy and perfectly seasoned. Taste of charcoal and creamy. 照燒鸡 (3/10)
Chicken was grilled and topped with the teriyaki sauce. The chicken was tender and slightly sweet.鸡皮紫菜燒虾 (6/10)
The chicken skin was wrapped around the prawns and grilled with sea salt. The chicken skin was crispy and brought the prawn to another level. Very delicate and complex. 碳燒广岛豪 (5/10)
Frozen oysters were use, greatly seasoned and grilled properly. The oysters were juicy and creamy.碳燒牛肋骨、牛舌 (5/10)
The beeft was full of meat flavour and soft, nicely grilled. The beef was very tender and spongy. Seasoned well with the gravy.燒饭糰 (7/10)
The rice ball is grilled, crispy on the outside, sticky in the inside. It was sensational. It was just perfect. I truly believe if the location is closer to the heart of central, I will be a very regular diner. But for sure, 真串is a must visit restaurant.

Holly Brown is a café that offer excellent coffee, frozen yogurt and ice cream. Foods are aright too, isn’t it great a place that you get that Holly Brown offer this all in one package.

Parma ham with truffle oil risotto (2/10)
I personally think that the Parma ham is a marketing strategy, rather unnecessary. When you are cooking with fine ingredients, you have to use the best of the best. The one Holly Brown used was lacked class. I am more than happy to settle with Bacon or Pancetta. The risotto was slightly under cooked. The sauce was very nicely done, where the mushroom absorbed the truffle oil thoroughly, it was a great flavour journey. The coffer and frozen yogurt are the must try food and beverage at Holly Brown. If you are looking for a quick western food, Holly Brown will certainly to the job for you.

Cecconi’s Italian is a great Italian restaurant, which blend the traditional cuisine with a 21st century twist. It aims to express the spirit of Italian cuisine and for diners to enjoy in this modern restaurant in the heart of Soho.

Carpaccio of beef with truffled mushrooms, garlic aioli, and shaved Parmesan (6/10)
The beef was tender and finely aged. The rocket, truffled mushrooms, garlic oil and parmesan cheese gave the beef a kick and complexity to the dish. It was sensational. Fettuccine with prawns and garlic in a creamy alfredo sauce (5/10)
The Fettuccine was cook to perfection, al dente and perfectly seasoned. The alfredo sauce was very rich and creamy, yet wasn’t heavy. Charred sweet corn, oxtail, orange and sage risotto (5/10)
Never thought of risotto can cook like lasanga, with both red and white sauce. The oxtail was stew in a red sauce, oxtail was very tender, sweet and delicate. While the risotto was cooked in a white sauce with was rich and creamy. With the super Monday offer, buy 1 get 1 free (main) Cecconi’s is a bargain. The quality of the food is fair with its price and the atmosphere is lovely. Don’t mind to visit it often on a Monday.

Tivo is a dining bar, which specialises in light contemporary Italian cuisine. Tivo’s main features of the interiors are its highly unusual all-wood veneer pendant with the golden background made it very fashionable. It has a great selection of wine,

Tomato Basil soup (4/10)
The base of the soup tasted like canned tomato, I could be wrong. But it was great flavour along with the basil, perfectly season, very refreshing for the summer. Roast Chicken Breast (4/10)
The chicken breast was nicely roasted, but lacked a wee bit seasoning. The chicken had great colour and was very tender. The spinach was nicely poached and seasoned. Tivo is like its name, the perfect place for a light alcoholic drink before lunch or dinner. Great drinks great food, you got it all in one restaurant.

黃枝記麵家re-open in the heart of central, at Stanley street. When diners are looking for something light and healthy, 黃枝記 can always be your top choice. It has a great variety of noodles and congee for you selection, more importantly, it serves traditional Cantonese cusisine too.

The congee wasn’t watery and have balanced portion of 皮蛋瘦肉, the flavour wasn’t too strong, great healthy congee to start with.黄金虾 (3/10)
King prawns were used, but it wasn’t fresh. The flavour was okay, fairly season, crispy on the outside, and the prawns weren’t over cooked. 腐乳通菜 (3/10)
The veg was boiled, wasn’t over cooked, very tender. The sauce was the perfect seasoning for the veg.Wonton Noodles (3/10)
Definitely not one of the best you would imagine in central. The Wonton itself are just average, but the noodles are definitely different from the others. But overall, the soup base made it disappointed. The shop is now entering the third generation, still keeping to the tradition. But I do think that the quality is going downhill.

From breakfast to lunch to Happy hour to dinner, Coast never run out of ideas. 25% off early bird for breakfast, $40 dollar wine, $100 buck steaks and buy 1 get 1 free pizza. Coast is a place for quality food with bargain. This has to be one of my favourite pubs in Soho.

Grilled sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce (4/10)
The steak was grilled nicely to rare, the meat was tender and full of flavour. The sauce was fairly standard, nicely made. The French fires was breathtaking, never thought of frozen fries have that much of potato flavour, nicely fried, extremely crispy.The best part of Coast is the location; it is right below Pure Fitness. After gym craving a steak for building muscle, Coast is just the perfect place.

Tuk Tuk Thai is probably one of the Best Thai restaurants in Central. However, if you are looking for authentic Thai food, this might not be the place for you. But if you are looking for delicious Thai cuisines, Tuk Tuk Thai is the right place for you.

Deep-fried Prawn Cake (5/10)
This was the highlight of the lunch. The prawn cake was perfectly fried; it was crispy, yet not oily. The prawn cake was spongy and fairly seasoned and fresh! Stir-fried noodles in Thai style (3/10)
A very standard stir-fried noodle, however, if instant noodle was not used as the base of the dish would be much more preferable. The noodle was greatly seasoned with soy sauce, fish sauce and it was slightly sweet.Green Chicken Curry (0/10)
This could have been one of the best dish of the lunch. This moreish, sweet but spicy, fragranced, green-tinged sauce can play host to a variety of meat or vegetables. The green curry paste was full of flavour, lemongrass stalks, kaffir lime leaves, ground coriander, cumin seeds and galangal was all there. The flavour was just perfect. However, the chef made the greatest mistake but using salt as sugar, the dish was totally destroyed. I hope I have better luck next time with my curry. The school boy error from the chef is not going to stop me to revisit, because from my experience so far, they have been very consistent with their food. It was just an one off incident.

Nha Trang reflects the heritage of Vietnamese cuisine. It serves the food with its refreshing flavours, varied texture and vibrant colours. You will never able to get a table without queuing during lunch and dinner service. There is only 1 reason, the food is outstanding.

The chicken was very nicely grilled. The skin was crispy, yet the meat was extremely tender. The sauce was sensational. Once you started, you just can’t stop eating.Pomelo and Grilled Prawn Salad (5/10)
A pomelo is one of the largest of the citrus fruits and is native to Southeast Asia, its closest relation is the grapefruit, but its flesh is sweet and firmer. This dish is a great way to cook it fresh, with dressing. The salad was fresh and the flavour of the dressing brought the freshness of the pomelo to another level. The prawns were fairly seasoned and grilled. Seriously, every time I look at the menu, I always struggle what to order.
