居食屋「和民」 (銅鑼灣)

This was the 3rd time I have tried to eat here. On previous occasions the queue was too long but tonight we went there early, around 5:45pm, and got a seat immediately.
We ordered the seafood paella, a potato salad, assorted sushi and crab meat balls,.

Seafood paella - the dish arrived on a heater, we were told before hand that it would take 20 minutes to cook. After 20 minutes we added the sauce and gave it a mix. We then realised that there was no seafood. We had waited 20 minutes for a pot of rice. The staff took it away and ordered another one. She explained that there was a mix up and they thought we ordered the eel paella. Maybe that was true but our rice didnt have any eel in it either. The replacement dish was ready after another 20 minutes, but they forgot the sauce, which we had to ask for it. It wasn't particularly tasty. In fact, I couldn't taste any seafood. I could see it and bite it but it was tasteless.

Potato salad - this dish was quite good. We shared one but I could probably eat one on my own. This dish arrived shortly after the first seafood paella.

Assorted sushi - we ordered the salmon, scallop and prawn assortment. Again, it was OK. We had to ask for this dish. It seems they were waiting for the 2nd seafood paella before serving this dish.

Crab meat rolls - these tasted OK but i would like to have had more and/or bigger serving. They were served about 5-10 minutes after we finished the other food. Again, we had to ask for them to be served.

Wine - they offer a "buy one get one free" glass of wine for $29. To be honest, the wine was very weak and tasteless.

I really don't understand why there are so many people waiting to eat here. The food was average and the service was pretty bad. We were in the restaurant for about an hour and a half, more than an hour of that was spent with no food on the table. This is the last time I'll visit this restaurant.

芽莊越式料理 (灣仔)

We arrived at 9:30pm on a Friday evening.

The decor is nice, however the layout doesn't allow for privacy and the restaurant appears quite noisy. My wife visited a few weeks ago and said it was noisy on that occasion too.

We ordered Soft crab spring rolls, pomelo and prawn salad, and sizzling crepes Saigon (item 801). The crepes weren't available, so we ordered the Hanoi tomato and crab noodle soup (item 401).

The soft crab spring rolls were average but good. The pomelo and prawn salad is mainly pomelo with 2 reasonably large prawns. I'll probably skip this particular salad next time. The highlight was the tomato and crab noodle soup which i highly recommend.

雅谷餐廳 (跑馬地)

A great place to eat. Excellent food and service with a large range of wines from a few hundred dollars up to around $100,000 per bottle.
The band is entertaining BUT they should stick the band in a corner somewhere instead of calling them over to sing at everyone's table, usually when we're trying to enjoy our excellent desserts. Not only is it distracting, but its a bit embarrassing - do you stop what your doing to watch the band? or just ignore them? do you tip them? Don't get me wrong, the band is very good and worth listening to, but they shouldn't be standing next to you when you're trying to talk to the people at your table.

戶井北海道米比薩 (銅鑼灣)

The restaurant was almost empty but they insisted that we sit at a table for 2 even though there were more comfortable 4 seat tables that were empty when we arrived and remained empty until we left.
The salad was too small and of poor quality.
We had to wait 15 minutes after finishing the salad for the main course to arrive even though asked for them to be served at the same time.
When we ordered the main course we also ordered dessert. Towards the end of the main course we asked them to start preparing our dessert. We then overheard the waitress tell other customers that the dessert was sold out. We assumed that our dessert was OK because we had ordered it when we ordered the main course. 20 minutes later we asked where was our dessert. The waitress told us that the kitchen had just informed her that the dessert was sold out...the kitchen JUST told her??? We heard her tell other customers 15 minutes earlier that there was no dessert!! No apology until we paid the bill without any tip.

悅木 (灣仔)

1. Ordered fish curry - no fish today
2. Ordered Mango smoothie - no smoothies today
3. Ordered Jackfruit Smoothie - no smoothies today
3. Was offered a bowl of curry sauce to make up for there not being any fish
4. Soft crabs - $108 - wasn't big enough portion
5. Soft crab - way too spicy, couldn't eat it without lots of water
6. Water - boiling hot. Couldn't drink it
7. During the meal, we were told the bowl of curry sauce (3 above) cost $25
8. The plate was too narrow for the rice. The rice kept falling off the plate
9. After the meal we went to Starbucks to buy some chicken pies to make up for the small portions
10. The menu is 2 foot high and 1 foot wide - too big to hold, too big to place on the table, too big for a menu.
