Having been 'in the beer scene' in hong kong for many years, I can attest that this is not at all the 'best craft brew bar' in hk as reported by another reviewer. It may in fact be one of the wrose. There are many other bars (even some owned by the same company as this franchised BrewDog outlet) that are far far better. Please try Round House 1, or Little Beer Room, or The Globe (all within 5 minutes walk of this location.) And there are many more.
This particular outlet had extremely unfriendly staff that a) Knew almost nothing about the beer they were selling, and b) Seemed too interested in themselves and their phones to actually interact with any of the customers.
Secondly, attached to this review is a photo of their pour. It was terrible. Even the top of the head was almost a full inch below the top of the glass. And keep in mind the glasses here are nowhere near a proper pint - they are less than 400ml even when poured correctly.
Sorry guys - the beer scene in Hong Kong is way more advanced than this. You need to seriously rethink your staffing and your service. I love BrewDog beer. I have been to many BrewDog pubs in Scotland and they are excellent. This place is an embarrassment. Avoid

Not a stand-out place by any means but it has two things going for it: 1) Great location on the water... or at least across the road from the water... in Kennedy town and 2) A significantly better beer collection than any other bar in Kennedy town (though I wouldn't say it's an excellent beer collection.) Manger said they were getting Suruga Bay IPA (Bairds - Japan) in Jul/15, which would significantly improve the 'collection'. Happy hour offers $20 discount on all beers. Staff are not knowledgeable at all about beers but they are friendly.

Uncle Padak is a nice little korean fried chicken restaurant in the middle of Sai Ying Pun. The restaurant was full when we arrived at 9pm on a Saturday but it quickly emptied out and we got a seat at the bar next to the window. Service was friendly and fast. The chicken was... well... a great snack! We ordered the first item on the menu (forget the name.) It's boneless deep-fried chicken with a rather sweet and slightly spicy sauce with spring onions on top. It's definitely nice. And large (enough for 4 people.) But I woudln't make a meal out of it because you'll feel pretty greasy by the end if you do! We washed that down with two Asahi's (48 hkd each I believe) and also a side plate of spicy rice cakes - again good but again rather an unbalanced meal!

On the whole - a fun little outlet perhaps for a beer and a snack before going somewhere else for dinner.

This place has a nice intimate feel to it - wooden furniture, relatively small, and excellent service (it's a bit of a surprise when you pop out of the elevator.) Every dish we ordered was excellent, though I would say the portions are on the small side. If you are coming here hungry, you're going to have to order a lot to fill yourself up, which in turn is going to cost quite a bit.

We came after 9:30pm, when all dishes (except seafood) are 20% off and better yet the Asahi beer is 50% off! So the spending per head below was for a salad, a veggie dish, 3 meat dishes, and 3 beers. It might sound like a lot, but it was more like a big snack for two people. Or a small dinner...

Special recommendation goes to the Morihachi Spicy Vegetables - very nice indeed (though not really that spicy.) Also enjoyed the Wasabi Beef.

It's a very nice conecpt - you start with a chongqing chicken pot. And when you're done with that, you get the waiter to add some broth and you turn it into a hot pot.

The flavour of the chicken pot was really excellent. And SPICY! I normally ask for the hottest and spiciest that can be made here in Hong Kong. But in this place (perhaps due to the overall sting of chili in the air when you walk in!) we asked for medium. And it was plenty hot enough. The only complaint about this dish is that mixed in with some good chicken meat was a lot of skin, fat, sinew, feet and other bits and pieces. So it's quite a bit of work to pick your way through it to get the good bits. But the good bits were very good!

After that we ordered some veggies, beef balls and dumplings to put into the hot pot. All were good and tasty.

Overall value was very good. Large bottles of beer are $25 HKD.

So on the whole - very good!

As a food lover living in HK, I would be mortified if anyone went here when there are so many wonderful options nearby.

The list of negatives is long, but here's a summary:

- The oysters are very expensive and for some reason extremely salty. I almost wonder if they are adding salt after shucking them
- The house wine is expensive and bad. About $250 hkd a bottle and you would do better in a 7-11. If you take your own they charge $200hkd corkage per bottle.
- As for the rest of the food... Forget it. Steak was fatty, poorly cooked and had no flavor. No sauces or seasoning are offered. Sausages were out of a packet. Pasta is ok but very unexceptional. Prawn was well... there was only one on the plate so I didn't get a chance to try it!
- Actually it's more of a BBQ than a restaurant. They call the dishes 'mains' but actually it's just meat. No veggies, rice, bread or anything else is available.
- The restaurant does not have any toilets. They send you two floors up into the adjacent shopping mall.

In the end a group of 10 of us spent 600 hkd each. Yes it was over 6000 hkd! And we left hungry. For that amount of money... Well enough said.

To be fair, environment sitting outside was nice. Though you are sandwiched between two buildings.

In summary, it's a scam. They try to present themselves as a fancy oyster bar but in reality it's way overpriced and has terrible food. If you want oysters, there are so many other better choices. Please don't try this one...

Wow... what a pleasant surprise it was to find this private kitchen. I was actually pointed in the direction by the Lonely Planet Guide to HK (and for those who never look at it - check it out! I've been living here for 6 years and I still get great recommendations from it...) But the restaurant had moved. Anyway the phone number was the same and we figured it out.

Ok the details... first and foremost... NO CORKAGE FEES! Bring as much beer/wine/alcohol as you want and they are happy for you to drink it, no charge (and there's a Welcome accross the street with an ok selection of wine.) Second, it's $208 per person, cash only, no service charge. The menu is a 10-course fixed vegetarian menu. I say fixed because they choose it for you, but it fact it does vary from table to table. They will ask when was your last visit when you book, and they will modify your menu accordingly. Speaking of which, make sure you book, because it is technically member's only (though we only booked 5 minutes before we got there...) Environment is lovely... intimate with ratan dividers all around but you are not totally secluded so it still feels like a restaurant. Service was friendly and fast. One note though... they literally kick you out at 10pm.

The food was in a word stupendous. Every dish was excellent... all of them were highlights. We had a cold cucumber and pomelo salad to begin which was fabulous. Ginger soup was excellent. Veggie dumplings in a tomato soup... veggie scallops well they tasted so much like scallops I was inclined not to believe them. I figured they were using real scallops, calling them veggie, and fooling us all Curry had a 'beef' in it that tasted so much like beef it was scary... bean curd I was told.

Anyway check it out - might seem a bit spendy at first but when you realize no service charge, no corkage charge, and 10 courses, I think you'll be happy. Oh and aparently if you're not full at the end they'll keep feeding you until you are. Though after 10 courses, we were both stuffed.
