My wife and I learnt about this place from the magazine during our flight to Hong Kong. Based on the reviews and the restaurant rating, we decided to give it a try with high expectation. Their operation was very efficient. The patrons were seated systematically with seats packed around small tables. We shared a table with strangers - a couple came from Korea, and another couple from China. We had little time to read the menu before ordering. My wife and I ordered beef brisket with E noodle. In terms of food quality, the brisket was a bit too salty, and not as tender as I expected. I had good brisket before and it was well seasoned with the "melt in your mouth" texture. This particular brisket was different, perhaps it's was due to the effect of mass production. The E noodle was perfectly cooked, very delicious. Overall hygiene was lacking. I could not help but noticed the wall was dirty and the floor was slightly slippery. We could not understand how this restaurant made it to the "best" list. The "wow" factor was just not there. My wife and I walked by this restaurant and decided to give it a try. First we were confronted with poor service. The waitress was not attentive at all. While I was in the middle of ordering, she interrupted me and started talking to her fellow waitress for a Chinese New Year sign. That was just not professional at all. If you serve like this as a waitress in the U.S. you will lose your job. When her attention came around to me, she mistook the order, and later put the blame on me. What a liar!! Poor service aside, the quality of food was not up to par. Compared to other restaurants around, the ingredients they put in was substandard though the price of the same item was a bit cheaper. The meat they put in the congee tasted awful. The "char Shiu Bao" was a bit too sweet, so so taste. To be fair, I should not expect the same quality of food at a lower price. So this is our experience. But in this restaurant business, if you cannot live up to the expectation of your customer, the competition will take over. To me, I will obviously not return to this restaurant. I felt compelled to write a review to let everyone know so that you dont have to go through the same experience we did. That said, I would highly recommend Kai Kee, and another similar restaurant Hung Lee close by.: Mad:: (

My wife and I have long heard about this restaurant. We decided to give it a try. Buffet price from Monday through Thursday was a little lower, costing us HK$488 per person plus 10% service charge, pricey: ( but quality and varieties of food were exceptional. They serve international cuisine, ranging from Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian, American to Italian food. We particularly like their fried jumbo tiger prawn which was freshly fried. It was sweet and yet savory. Nothing compared to freshly made prawn. Prime rib was well prepared. Slightly well done at the margin and yet very juicy and tasty in the center.
