In terms of ambiance, this place is very relaxing and chill given the right weather. However, the coffee is subpar. The latte foam has large bubbles, and the milk was poured unevenly into the cup. Service was also a slow, but I guess people aren’t in a rush here. The cakes are also just average. The cheesecake lacked the fragrant cheese flavor. Tiramisu was also a bit plain.

Lesbie honest, it's just a regular bowl of ramen. Definitely not worth the hype. Sure, it has the gimmicky, secluded Japanese style eating booth. But besides that, the ramen does not distinguish itself from the myriad of ramen shop in Hong Kong. The soup base is light and bland. The noodle is nothing special. They give you two very stingy pieces of "char shiu", which tastes like flavorless boiled pork belly. The price is actually above average. Overall, come to use the bidet, but don't expect much from the mediocre bowl of ramen.

Usually I'm a fan of greasy takeout. But this one goes over the top. Not only is it super greasy, but there's an underlying sweetness to all of their food. 

I had the burger and fish fillet. Both were utterly disgusting...greasy and sweet. Honestly, the beef patty does not taste like beef at all. The texture is loose and mushy. I'm not even sure if it's real meat. I fed it to my dog and he didn't even want to touch it. 

The fish filet resembled something that I would use to wipe my ass...dry! 

I normally don't wish ill on people, but if you're gonna deliver poor quality food, I'd rather you close down and do something else. Don't waste my time and taste bud on something that is marginally palatable. 

When you first walk in, you'll notice the dining area is big and spacious, unlike a lot of cramped HK restaurants. The decor feels eclectic with scattered vintage pieces. It's definitely a place you can chill and relax and not feel rushed. 

The food, on the other hand, is simply mediocre. I ordered the 3 mini burgers... fish, chicken, and pork. All of them came out a bit dry and bland. It could use some seasoning or more sauce. The starry chicken, which everyone seems to order, is very sweet. It's fine if you like candied chicken. 

The ordering system and service can be confusing. When you walk in, you don't know whether to sit down first or wait in line to order. (Fyi, you line up to order first and then find a table. Wait, or is it the other wait around? I'm still confused). 

Also, they are very slow on drinks. You'll probably finish your meal before taking a sip of your coffee or tea.

This place has the best "lor mei gai". It is so dense with meat and rice that it feels like holding a brick. The filling has everything... a piece of chicken, a chinese sausage, and a fatty pork belly. This is mixed with a healthy helping of ground pork and a sweet and savory thick brown sauce. Yum! One lor mei gai costs $16, which is more than enough to fill you up. I started feeling full half way through eating it.

It's a take out place only, and they have other things on the menu, such as dim sum, buns, bao's, and steamed rice bowls.

I've said this many times about burgers in HK...too much bread. If there was an award for having a high bread to meat ratio, then this restaurant would take first, second, and third place. The tiny meat is sandwiched between the two enormous buns. The meat was dry and stringy. I literally had to pull the bread apart (see my pic). There was so much bread leftover that you can form another bun. 

The fact that this place has any good reviews at all is beyond my comprehension. It just goes to show that HK people have very low expectations of what a good burger is suppose to be.

Summer is gone, and so goes the unbearable humidity. Autumn is the perfect time to be sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful warm weather. That's why I frequent this place because of the abundance of outdoor seating. You might get bit by a mosquito here and there. But that beats sitting inside the cramped restaurant. 

The food is typical cha cafe. Lunch is $28 (very reasonable) for a rice plate and a hot drink. I like getting the meat pie. The meat is denser here compared to other places. Depending on the day, it may be topped w preserved veggies, salted egg, or salted fish. Today my meat pie came w the salted fish. I like that the rice plate has a handful of cabbage and not just a full plate of rice. You can ask for more veggies and less rice to get more greens in your diet. 

Tastewise, it's better than most cha cafes in the area. Definitely worth coming back.

I walked into this place knowing that Caliburger is a complete imitation of In-N-Out. I had to try it, maybe it can live up to the expecations. I ordered the cheeseburger and wild style fries. In just one bite, I already knew the answer...this does not come close to the real thing.
Bread - way way way too much bread. A good burger is a balance between the meat and bun ratio. With every bite, you taste the bread more than any other ingredients. 
Meat - weak! Completely overshadowed by the bun. Definitely doesn't compare to American beef. There's no beefiness to the patty.
Grilled onions - for some reason it was dry. Maybe they over cooked it, but it lacked the proper sweetness of an onion.
Cheese - store bought, can't go wrong there.
Lettuce and Tomato - at least they got this one right.
I can tell the fries are frozen and not fresh. How do I know? If you've ever been inside an In-N-Out, they have someone slicing fresh potatoes regularly. I don't see that here. The fries are just plain jane. And the wild sauce, it's too acidic. I suggest lightening up on the relish.
Was it worth the price? No! I was only willing to pay $8 USD for a run of the mill cheeseburger simply to try it. But to eat it regularly will not be of value to my wallet.
How does Caliburger compare to other burger places in HK? Just average, nothing special unfortunately. Sigh, I had high hopes that HK will finally get a decent burger place. But not today my friends, not today.
 

I realize that it's hard to find a good quality burger for a reasonable price in Hong Kong. Panda Burger comes close to it. For most HKer's, this place would be awesome. For me, since I've had way better burgers in the past, this place is average. But I'm judging this restaurant based on my burger experience in HK. And so far, Panda Burger would be up on my list. The meat is not overly seasoned like other places...they allow the flavor of the beef to come through. But it is a bit dry...I had to douse it with ketchup to give it some moisture. If they used a fattier beef patty, it would be juicier. It's about $40 for the burgers, they have beef, chicken, lamb, and pork belly. I've only tried the beef and lamb. The pork belly definitely sounds interesting. I like the crispiness of the fries here. The soup, on the other hand, could use some work. It's a bit watered down and the flavor is diluted.

I would never expect to find a Vietnamese restaurant in the middle of a wet market in sham shui po. And it's surprisingly good too. HK is notorious for bastardizing Vietnamese food, especially the ones on HK island. But this restaurant does a great job at maintaining its authenticity. 

I tried the pho and the vermicelli, both $30 each. The pho has a sweet beefy flavor to the broth, with aromatic herbs and spices. It's comes with a mixed assortment of beef parts, like tripe, tendons, and meat. 

I like the vermicelli the best. It's refreshing and light, perfect for a hot summer day. I chose the lemongrass pork chop and egg roll. The egg roll was deliciously crispy. Toss it all up with pickled veggies and fish sauce and you have a recipe for a great meal. 

For $2 more, add a drip coffee. It's packed with a strong punch of flavor, which I like. You get to mix in the desired amount of condensed milk. For me, two heavy spoonfuls is just the right amount. 

Don't expect much from the decor or environment. It's in a dai pai dong, so be prepared to sit with loud middle aged locals throwing back a few beers and whiskey.
