Italian restaurants are scattered all over the city, but if you want one that serves good Italian fare with a mellow, classy ambiance, head on over to Osteria which is tucked away on the Mezzanine floor of the Holiday Inn Golden Mile hotel. We started dinner with several appetizers. The Liguria-style octopus salad was deliciously good although octopus bits and pieces were lacking. We also had some carpaccio - smoked salmon and beef with rocket salad and apples. I loved how the sweetness of the apples complimented the salty taste of the capaccio. But the best appetizer that night was the Bruschetta platter. It was just amazing. There was bruschetta with a chunk of mozzarella cheese, bruschetta with smoked salmon, and bruschetta with parma ham. I loved all of them! Then on to heavier food. We ordered three different pizzas - First we had the La Classica Margherita, which is Margherita pizza at it's finest. Simple yet delectable. I loved the chunky slabs of mozzarella cheese. Then we had the Pizza Prosciutto di Parma, which is pizza with parma ham and rocket salad. This was unique. I've never had pizza that was smothered in loose vegetables before. And it was surprisingly good. One of the chefs told us that this pizza is a best seller. I loved how this pizza managed to mix parma ham and rocket salad. I suppose if you're a parent and you want to feed your kids with vegetables, this might be a good place to start from. And lastly, we had the Capricciosa with salami, olives, artichokes and mushroom. I loved this! A little heavy on the stomach but really really delicious. We also ordered the squid ink risotto. We were asked if we wanted al dente or soft. This was the first time I've ever been asked if i wanted my rice one way or another. I asked the server for his recommendation and he said soft as that's what the Asian tongue is more accustomed to. He then mentioned that they've received complaints when serving al dente risotto, that people would complain that the rice isn't cooked yet because it was al dente. So cooked soft was the option we took. Ahh pasta. You can't possibly go to an Italian restaurant and not have pasta. We ordered Clams Linguine in tomato sauce and Lasagna Bolognese. I loved the clams linguine. They were a tad bit spicy and the clams were neither gritty nor grainy. The lasagna was very rich and I had difficulty finishing it not because it wasn't good, but because it was too rich in flavour. Then we had some pan fried sole fillet. It was soft and tender and was slathered in cheese and veggie sauce. Ah heaven. And finally we had some dessert. We ordered a Tiramisu, a Sicillian pie and a Pumpkin pie. The tiramisu was very light and was at least as good as hoped. The Sicillian pie was chunky and chewy and interestingly yummy too. But the best dessert surprise of all was the Pumpkin pie. I wasn't too sure about it at first but it delivered. And it delivered well. It was smooth and quite creamy and pumpkin wasn't exactly what came into mind as I was relishing the first forkful. 推介美食: La Classica Margherita,Le bruschette miste dell'Osteria,Tiramisu' Veneto con caffe' Lavazza

I was initially worried about not getting a table at AKU because I didn't call to make a booking. Amazingly, the place was practically empty when we got there for dinner. It made me wonder (and just a little bit worried) that the place might not be good because it wasn't being patronized. I was wrong. This place is amazing! We had two staff waiting on no one else but us. We didn't have to call for service, they came automatically the second they see you turning your head around. The staff were also very proactive in suggesting what food to take and what sake to order, whether this drink would go well with that food, etc. For the wonderful service alone, this place gets 10-star points from me. We started dinner with the salmon sashimi. Then they brought in the bottle of sake which they soaked in a semi-tub of hot water to heat it up. Then a server came with a tray of sake cups of all shapes and sizes. We all got to pick which sake cup we want to use. We had to wait about 10-15 minutes for the sake to heat up before they poured us some. Again, 10-star points from me for a different sake-drinking experience. Then came the mango sushi which was drizzled in some sort of creamy goo with three little blobs of caviar on top. And then they brought in the assorted BBQ platter. While all these was happening, the chef has been frying garlic chips in preparation for the rest of our dinner. After the garlic chips were done, they were set aside and he made us steamed eggs with foie gras and a dollop of black caviar. Then we had the fish. We also had some steak and mushrooms. And lastly, we had the fried rice with beef and bacon. For an awesome dining experience and staff that are more than happy to serve, AKU is the place to be. 推介美食: Assorted Teppanyaki - Beef,Sole,Mushroom,Fried Rice,Sushi,Sashimi,Sake

Delicious and cheap, this place is great when you're craving for some daa laang. You can order up to three types of marinated food - we had squid, pig ears and pig intestines. Their marinated goose was also good. I loved the pig ears that were done to chewy perfection. No daa laang meal would be complete without oyster so we had oyster pancakes and oyster congee. We also had a bowl of coagulated pork blood. It wasn't bad, but I'm also not a fan. Though the "big eye chicken" was tasty, it was a little too dry in my opinion. To balance all the meat, we also ordered some vegetables with fermented tofu. It was pretty good. 題外話/補充資料: They don't have an English menu so bring a friend who can read Chinese. Using the Google Translate app doesn't really work (it returns odd, incoherent translations).推介美食: Marinated Meats

There's no English menu at Mui Kee but that's okay because they have lots of pictures of food in their menu and one can always just point at the food at the next table and say, "I want one of those, please." We only got to try two (well three if you also want to count the veggie) dishes because we were worried about ordering too much (note to self: drag along at least three other friends for an even quartet when eating at a dai pai dong). We had crispy pork knuckles, a plate of stir-fried veggie and yau cha guai stuffed with squid (I think it was). Maybe we should've ordered something less dry, less yeet hay. They were pretty good though - not too salty, crisped to perfection, I-think-I-feel-a-heart-attack-coming yummy. Oh. And they serve beer in chilled beer bowls, too. Reasonably priced for the amount of serving, this place is a better option to Tung Po especially for those who'd rather stay on the Kowloon side of the city.

If cheese is your thing, this place is for you. Make sure to bring someone who can read Chinese because they don't have an English menu. I was informed of this when I called to book a table but the nice gentleman who took in my call very hospitably volunteered to help out with picking things off the menu if none of us can read Chinese. Alas, he seems to have not been on duty when we went because we didn't exactly have an easy time finding a server who spoke English well enough to easily help us out. We mostly relied on other pictures available on OpenRice to order food. Anyway. As with typical chicken hotpots, after consuming all the chicken, you get broth poured into your pot so you can start with the "regular" hot pot. If you're having the chicken-cheese hotpot, the hot pot broth they give you is an orangey-coloured, cheesy concoction that does not help with the nauseating feeling of eating too much rich food. It was good, but taken in excess (which I think was what happened to us), the rich cheesiness gets you sated a little too fast, too early on in the evening. I would probably never come back here but I would recommend it to people who want a little something different, a little twist to the usual chicken hot pot. And to cheese lovers. The cheese lovers would definitely like this place. 推介美食: Chicken cheese hot pot
