Been once to sheung wan, great experience and glad to know one opened in wanchai! It was a late saturday morning , but it wasn't busy. i sat at the bar but there were seatings upstairs too i think.

the cappucino was rich and flavourful, but not in a strong or over/under roasted way. loved it!

they didnt have the omelette at this location, darn it! so i tried this burger BECT bacon egg cheese tomato on sourdough, not bad!

the egg was perfectly done, no over fried browness, it COULD be leakier but this is fine =D

i should come here every saturday.

the butter toasted top bun tasted well even on its own. portion was just right! the vinagrette rocket leaves was a good pair.. the meal was easy on the stomach compared to home fries.

would defintiely come back!

Arrived at 10:30, after it just opened, to welcome the cozy laid back sunday. The set up is rather busy, crowded furniture, lots of displays, since I guess upstairs and next door is a design studio kinda of thing. It's kind of cool to walk up the wooden steps like a mini stage to place your order. keep your head up though, unless you want to kiss the floor.

flat white $35. refreshing! today's going to be a good day.

one of the salads $58, avoided the all day breakfast becomes it seemed more like lunch.. too early for that.

tomato soup, so-so. no surprises. $32

waited a bit for this. the menu says its avocado and cheese... so i asked if it was grilled.. girl behind the counter was lost.. so i said.. "how"...? might have been bad translation.. then the said its "kok" - oven baked. im cool with that. it came out hot and melting.

somehow im guessing they prepared the avocado before pilling it on. it looked and tasted more like guacomole.. does baking avocado long enough melt it like this? with so many sauce and mayo sandwich cant go wrong. $45

overall impression told me its selling some garden theme, as the displays were mostly green, and table deco promoted longevity. flat white would be my favourite pick, food is ok, nothing too special.

i would come back again for the ambience. but it gets packed around lunch/tea time.

Funny decorations all around in this new funky store. gave a feeling of trendy and freshness!

I was first drawn to this bowl of chocolate/granola like container on every table. Opened and took a swift, flavourful of spicyness! not the type you gag when you think of eating it, but the feeling of anticipation.

Tri-colour milk tea: more sweet than teh tarik due to the bottom layer of sugar. Its good!

Teh tarik: came in a funky box! Don't mistaken, there is a cup inside.

Veggies to start (9 choy): just boiled and drizzled with some soya sauce.

Curry chicken: kind of spicy, came with whole wheat toast, curry's not bad! good kick.

butterfly bacon noodle: the butterfly bacon did taste like beef! (as warned by waitress to not get fooled)

it game with a huge bulk of garlic clove, which was cooked 200%, poke a chopstick in it and it melts, reminds of of mashed potatoes! its a good texture for those afraid of garlic.. since maybe cooking it to that density runs out its spicyness.

fishballs: the shavings on top were, of course, spicy. nothing too special for the balls, but i liked it the flavour and seasoning.

Bak kut teh: served with white rice. I would prefer the malaysian kind with lots of chinese herbs and look twice as dark as this (singaporean?) one.. the white rice I mixed it in with the chocolate granola on the table and ate it. its sooooo goood! Although I almost ran up to their bar and beg for water. I couldn't really find anything else to test try the chocolate granola with since every dish was so flavour-enhanced.

fried chicken: resembles popcorn chicken or taiwanese "yan zhu gi" (i probably got all my pinyin wrong). this was the only thing not spicy out of wat was ordered (besides the 9 choy). can't go wrong with fried chicken, but you can get fried chicken everywhere.

Dry mix noodle (lo mien): forgot the full name, but the ingredients/mixins were insufficient to satisfy the entire noodle! so the bottom got kind of dry. good flavour though! and this one is on the milder side, I actually added chocolate granola in it to spice it up.

the highlight of the day: curry noodle! its totally different curry to the curry chicken, which was more spicy while this one is more on the sweet side. I think I drank all the soup before finishing the noodle.

Things I will reorder: 9 choy (must fit greens somewhere in the meal), curry noodle, tri-colour milk tea, and maybe one of the soupy noodles that comes with the garlic bundle that tastes like mashed potato (maybe there is something else on the menu with that garlic in it!)

The chocolate granola, I found out at the end of the meal, is actually homemade dry chili pepper. I wish I can bag it with me and add it to everything I eat!

Ok now gotta plan when the next time I can come back!

(If only I can choose a super smily face..)

Was always loyal to Matsubishi in wan chai.. decided to travel overseas to try something new.

Even before ordering, salads were waiting for us.

Along with some starting munchies: garlic/shallots, cow "pong", anchovies..

started off with some sake and dry blowfish

As we ordered one of there sets, the chef began oil-full-frying the garlic.

First to be served is goose liver boied eggs. He made it in front of us from scratch, but I didn't pay attention haha.

Next up: lobster!

ok we get 3 little itty bitty bite size ones, meh.. good thing im not a big fan of lobster.

Watever is left is made into a soup.

Then we get abalone and cod.

Big fat goose livers! Rather tasteless despite looking yummy in pictures. on the positive side, at least it didn't shrink...

For birthday buddies: cartoon fried rice!

All requests are made on the spot. Assuming this is the highlight of the meal, the chef didnt fail to impress. He has good mental pictures in mind, i guess mainly due to experiences, and easily puzzled out cartoon faces. And he draw happy birthday using egg sauce! that was kinda cool.

After phone-pic porning, everything is dissolved and tossed into one haha

Rice tasted like its from cha chan tang. Bland, no flavour, still rock hard after being fried (when the chef took out the rice its like brick.. probably from the fridge).

Compared to Matsubishi & Hana Sakazuki, completely 2 different things (especially the fried rice!!). At the other 2 places, the rice was comforting and something to look forward to. Here, I only feel bad for not eating it cuz there are other ppl without food in this world. I think i had 1/4 or 1/3 of it. Looking back, only fish was ok. Because I like fish.. and its not hard to mess up fish. Lobster wasn't anything special. Probably get something better at any given wedding. Goose liver was lacking flavour.. which is rare.. because goose liver is usually oily and really strong.

For the food, nothing was worthwhile or even worth re-visiting. Only the cartoon fried rice was kind of neat, not worth the money, and most likely a one-time thing.

Popped up for a quick meal during non-peak hours.

I am a fish lover, and they had different versions of the fish prepared! Lovely.

Ordered fish-fat congee (yue lam).

Instead of just cutting up onions, they shredded them. Makes them different.

The congeee really did taste great made from "raw boiled."

Much more fishily tasteful! I just wished they opened later, because 3pm is really early!!!

The waiter was really friendly when I asked for more green onions.
