This time I went with a group of friends and ordered some different dishes!

We again went for the same old dishes, such as:

1) Veggies: they were so yummy as usualy!

2) 炸子雞: yummy chicken as usual

3) new dish: 牛腩煲: i didn't get to try out any of the beef, but the veggies and the taste were both very yummy!

4) new dish: 荷葉飯: finally got to try out their famous lily rice after making a reservation for it! We went for the small portion and it was so damn yummy!!!! The rice was not too wet, but had this really nice taste!

5) Prawn toast: the prawn toast was the best! Yummy prawns and excellently made buttered with some kind of coating that I couldn't describe!

6) Dessert: 杏仁茶: the almond tea here is really tasty, very dense and yet does not contain too much egg white!

All in all, the service here was expeditious this time! Dunno why, but everything just took around 5-10 minutes to arrive, which was excellent!

Price per person was also reasonable: $112! Highly recommended if u're going in groups!

星巴克咖啡(金鐘)

Again, accompanied my friend to get some snacks from Starbucks. She went for the apple fritters as it seemed to be good for value - bigger portion and relatively cheap ($17).

However, it tasted horrible! There was hardly any apple inside and it wasn't heated well at all!

It was warm on the outside but cold on the inside!

Anyway, service needs to be improved as well as the waitress didn't even care to ask if we wanted to heat it up or not and just simply stuffed it in a bag! Anyway, it could really be much better and much cheaper!

翠華餐廳(中環)

Was forced to order delivery tonight as we had to work overtime. Didn't get to take pictures this time, but anyway,

ordered

1) 奶油豬仔包: tasted not good at all when delivered;

2) Broccoli with garlic: not bad! Put in lots of garlic and keung, tasted alright; and

3) Lemon water with 薏米: not bad when it's warm.

Anyway, prices are not low here and food is pretty expensive! Delivery was pretty slow as well.

Could be much better....

歌柏絲意大利餐廳(中環)

Went here for lunch today with my friends. Wanted to try out some Italian food.

Well, what can I say about this place? The atmosphere is good. The food here is delicious. One big criticism though: the service is crap! The waiters tend to avoid even looking at you when you wave at them. They hardly care to take your orders! Very bad service for such an expensive meal!

Anyway, both my friends and I went for the set lunch - 3-course meal, which cost around $160 each. They also ordered a pizza in addition.

I went for the ceasar salad + salmon + tiramisu set.

The ceasar salad was fab, nice veggies.

The salmon was very nice, BUT the rest of the food, such as the veggies and the so-called pasta rolls were horrible! Hardly any taste at all!

The tiramisu is excellent - it had this wine taste, but tasted of almond. All in all, it was very delicious.

My friends went for 1 set lunch: mushroom soup, which was creamy and fab! And linguine with prawns. I tried out some of the linguine which had this strong prawn flavor. It's not especially my cup of tea, but I'm sure it tasted alright.

As for the dessert, they went for the Ben & Jerry's Super Premium Ice-cream - chocolate. They kept on saying that it had this cookie flavor in it and was super yummy.

Anyway, as for the pizza: we ordered the blue cheese pizza and shared it amongst ourselves. It was so cheesy and the crust was very nice! Definitely a good choice if you like cheese and pizza!

As for the appetizer: bread. Very disappointing. It was far too cold, but the olive oil was of high quality.

Above all, this restaurant serves good food, BUT the service was crap, some of the waiters appeared to be very impatient and the food is far too expensive. The appetizer - bread can also be served at a warmer temperature.

Délifrance(中環)

Went here to get some takeaway for lunch today.

DIdn't manage to take any photos this time, but will try to do so next time! Anyway, ordered the typical lunch set - hot dog set. I didn't like the fact that the manager didn't wear gloves when he was making the sandwiches, not very hygienic!

Anyway, the hot dog set came with a nice mushroom cream soup, warm vanilla milk and a peach tart!

Actually, the hot dog set was pretty good! So was the mushroom cream soup and the warm vanilla milk (perhaps a bit too sweet, but still alright!)! I don't really understand why the rankings of this restaurant are bad, perhaps it's because of the pasta, but generally, the pastries here are pretty good!

The peach tart was even better than I expected! Anyway, service could be sped up and the managers could be wearing gloves when making the food!

All in all, prices are a bit too high. Need to lower the prices though.

海都海鮮酒家(金鐘)

Went here to try out some other kinds of dim sum with my friends today!

They didn't serve the 千層糕 any more which was so disappointing!

Anyway, we had the appetizer, which was made up of nice peanuts and salty fish as usual.

We ordered chrysanthemum tea, which tasted nice and warm.

The dim sum we ordered were as follows:

Barbecue pork pastries: again, very delicious and not too meaty!

Cheung Fun: yummy!

糯米包: some glutinous rice wrapped up in this yellow thingy...anyway, it tasted good! Not too filling!

Turnip cake: again, one of my favorite dishes!

流沙包: this is definitely the dish of the day! Very good 流沙 and not too sweet! Yummy!

Congee: we wanted to order 2 bowls but the waitress was kind enough to let us know that we just need to order 1 bowl as it's of a pretty big portion, which turned out to be quite true. Even though she forgot to leave out the 皮蛋, it was still good congee!

Anyway, service was slightly better and we got an almost seaview seat! Very satisfied! Prices could be slightly lowered though! Would come here for dim sum again next time!

新穎餅店(上環)

My friend treated me to an egg white coconut tart at this shop for tea! It just cost $4 and was very cheap! Anyway, I was attracted to the fact that it was named as "egg white", but was extremely disappointed by the fact that it simply was just an egg white tart, not an egg white coconut tart!

Nevertheless, it was warm and tasted very nice! The sweetness was just right and the pastry was not too bad. Would try out some other stuff there next time if I pass by!

力寶軒(金鐘)

Went here for dim sum with my friend today.

Ordered quite a number of dim sum dishes, like

蝦餃: the prawns were exceptionally fresh and tasty;

siu mai: not as good as the "xia jiao", but good enough;

燒餅: really strange, tasted like barbecue pork buns, very disappointing and actually, didn't taste that nice;

奶皇包: Dish of the day! Delicious 奶皇 and the pastry was in the shape of a porcupine, quite cute!;

紅棗千層糕: um, the name was so misleading as I thought it would really taste like a thousand-layered cake. Eventually, it just simply turned out to be 紅棗糕, but in the shape of a thousand-layered cake...disappointing;

Turnip pastry: again very delicious! Not too hot and a bit warm, the turnip filling was very good and the pastry was not too crispy and a bit soft;

糯米卷: very good dish! The 糯米 was not too oily and mixed well with the peanuts. Not too many peanuts either.

Anyway, this is a good place for dim sum, but still, it has a limited variety of dim sum and seriously, some of the dim sum in the menu are rather misleading. Also, it's far too expensive - $150 per person! Anyway, service was excellent though! Wouldn't come here for dim sum that often coz it's way too expensive!

興利食品速遞專門店(銅鑼灣)

Was stuck at the hairdresser's for ages today. So ordered their quick delivery and it happened to be from this restaurant.

I just wanted something very healthy, light and not too expensive. So went for the breakfast set which cost around $20 plus delivery charge $8. My breakfast set consisted of a sandwich (egg and ham) with whole grain porridge and a drink, either 阿華田 or 好立克. Dun really remember.

Anyway, the drink was good as the nice lady helped me order the drink for "little sugar" and even though it was not exactly low sugar, it still tasted good.

As for the whole grain porridge, it was not sweet at the top and in the middle and was far too sweet at the bottom. Guess all the sugar went down to the bottom. Anyway, it was alright.

For the sandwich, well, I prefer having sandwiches with thick-crust bread. Anyway, it was a typical sandwich with thin crust and again the ingredients added together were rather sloppy. Didn't like the sandwich that much.

All in all, service was efficient. Delivery was fast, but the quality of the food could be better for $28.

杏花樓甜品(中環)

Went here for dessert with my friend eventually after lunch and shared the dessert with her. Seriously, I didn't realize that the dessert here was so expensive! Even a 腐粥白菓薏米糖水 costs $20!!! Oh my goodness, that really shocked me!

Anyway, we decided to go for 2 desserts to share between ourselves. We ordered the 雪蛤鮮奶 ($26) and the black glutinous rice with coconut (椰子黑糯米) ($23).

I didn't really have the 雪蛤, but the rest tasted very nice. The black glutinous rice with coconut was excellent as well. Not very sweet, but good enough. We both ordered warm dessert and it was not boiling hot. So the temperature was almost perfect.

Anyway, service was not the best as they didn't give us the best seats when available, but the dessert was fine. Could be cheaper though!

芽莊越式料理(中環)

Went here with my friend for lunch.

She ordered the Vietnamese coffee, which looked like a typical Vietnamese-made coffee. I was told that it tasted very nice - not too strong and not too sweet!

Then we went for the main course. She ordered the soft shell crab rolls and I got the chance to taste one small crab - it was delicious! Then I ordered my typical dish - 雞絲河粉, which was utterly disappointing. I didn't even bother to take a photo.

Honestly, the quality of the chicken pho has deteriorated. It used to be so much better here! They added lots of garlic and herbs and loads of pho, but it still tasted bland! Dunno why, but the chicken had no taste. The noodles had no taste. What's worse, despite all the garlic, the entire soup noodles tasted bland and nothing out of the ordinary! Plus, they put in far too little soup and it tasted a bit dry.

Anyway, I was very disappointed with the dish and didn't even care to order dessert there.

This restaurant seriously needs to improve its food quality, especially the pho! I can't believe they didn't even care to do a good job with that as it's a typical Vietnamese dish!

Anyway, service was alright and the renovation of this restaurant was much better, but still the food wasn't good enough!

土司工坊(銅鑼灣)

Went here to get myself a drink - ordered the warm 薏米水 and it turned out to be a disaster!

The 薏米水 was simply just water! It contained a handful of "rice" and seriously, I could even count the number of rice they put in, simply just 10 or even less. This was so disappointing! I was attracted to it as it said it was homemade! But definitely won't go for it ever again. It simply tasted just like water and didn't even have the slightest taste of "rice". Plus, it was super expensive - $16! The drink tasted simply just like water. I might as well have just bought water. Service was alright, but seriously, it really needs to improve the quality of the food and drinks and reduce the prices!

Definitely would not go there again! What a rip-off!

亞月家(銅鑼灣)

Went here with my friend to get some cakes. Went for the custard cream cake and I just had one tiny bite!

It was delicious! The custard cream wasn't too sweet and really mixed well with the pastry - the cake. The cake was lukewarm and slightly hot, which was almost perfect!

All in all, service was very good and it tasted very nice. However, extremely expensive. Just one cake for $11! What a rip-off! Asked them if we get cheaper cakes if we bought them in a box of 8 and they said, no.

Really need to lower the prices. $11 for one cake is far too much!

泰昌餅家(金鐘)

Went here with a few colleagues to get some wife cake. Actually, the pastries here are not too great except for their warm egg tarts. The wife cake was cool, not even warm and tasted just alright. The filling was not elastic enough and there was something that tasted hard, dunno what that was.

Anyway, the egg tarts looked delicious, but didn't feel like getting one.

All in all, one wife biscuit costs $4.5, not cheap, but not unreasonable. Still quality needs improvement.

Perhaps will go for their egg tarts next time. Managed to take a picture, but only after eating half of it!

香港大學校友會(中環)

This time went there with a group of friends.

Ordered a set of different dishes:

豉油雞 (half, which cost $130);

清湯豆苗;

Pineapple and 咕嚕肉; and

4 bowls of white rice!

The chicken was really tasty, but the portion was too small, much smaller than the 炸子雞. Tasty though.

The pineapple and gu lou yuk was very good! Cut into small pieces of Gu Lou Yuk and very tasty. 香口!

The veggies were again the same. Just as good.

Last but not least, we finally tried out their 杏仁蛋白茶, which was one of the best I've ever had! Very strong almond taste and didn't taste just like soup! The soup was in fact pretty dense! Anyway, it was a good dessert!

I really wanted to post pictures but accidentally deleted all of them. Will post them again next time!

Seriously, this restaurant still needs to improve on its service! Food is good though! Dishes really need to be much bigger coz prices here are not too cheap!
