This used to be one of my favourite Japanese restaurants, but after this time, it would be a looong time before I will go there again:

I ordered the $390 16 pcs Sushi and Tempura set (as usual).  Salad and egg custard were served first.  Only when I almost finished the salad, I noticed that there is a brown thin worm wiggling at the bottom of the glass bowl.  It was not the usual fat 'vegi worm' but was about 3 to 4 cm long thread like worm.  I called the waiter and the manager (look likes one), both apologise profoundly.  One offered to prepare another salad for me which I turned down of course and finally, he gave me a tomoato salad (as compensation, I think).  I did not leave on the spot because I was really looking forward to the sushi and tempura.

The tempura came first, which was not usual, but still OK.  I had the abalone, my favourite and will remain as that for the time being.  The tempura uni was good also, same as the fresh shrimp.  Though the head of the shrimp was poorly done.

Then came the sushi, brought to the table in three separate plates: first came the fatty tuna sushi plus the other more oily fish sushi, followed by the uni and salmon roe.  But the flounder and scallop, the two that should come first were still no way to be seen.  Only after I asked the waiter for their whereabout, he told me that they were being prepared.  When the two finally came and eaten, the sushi rice of the first comers were already cold and scatterly.  I am not sure whether the rice was in this bad condition initially or because of the wait.  But anyway, they were not satisfactory, particularly at $390 plus 10%.  The fatty tuna were quite good though the uni were small and not in good shape.

All in all, considering the value of the meal and the quality of the food, this was a very bad experience. 

Food is so so, but really can't ask for more for $52 ($47 set plus 10%) which includes soup, main dish and coffee or tea.  I tried the ox tongue with tomato sauce, baked, rice.  A bit salty for the ox tongue, but still tender.  Milk tea is very good.  The guy next table is eating fried beef rice noodle.  A bit oily (very shiny) but he finished the whole plate, so may not be too bad.

Super bad service. Will not go there again. I was there this morning around 7:56am. Was told to wait for a moment. So I sat down and read my newspaper because I knew the shop opens at 8 am. But time passed and I asked the woman at the counter at 8:07 whether the shop is ready to serve client, the woman said: 等多一陣得吾得? And when I asked again whether the shop opens at 8:00am, she bluntly said :等我做埋d手尾得唔得? I asked for the supervisor and the woman said she is the supervisor. So I left.

Waiting for a few extra minutes is not the issue, but it is the attitude of this lady that bothers me. When I left, I heard her yelling loudly behind my back telling other customers her side of the story.

I have been to that store once or twice every month, mainly for the gayan toast and coffee. Food is not bad but will never go there again because of this incident.
