As one of the many Japanese restaurants in Tin Hau, Izakaya 88 should be the one and only Izakaya (Japanese Drinking Establishment) in the area. Serving traditional sushi, sashimi and yakitori, 88 has carried through the authentic Japanese style in food and environment. The owner of Izakaya 88 and also another famous Sushi house, Etsu Sushi, Mr. Lo invited a famous Japanese designer to build a restaurant with cozy and warm atmosphere which is same as old and traditional Izakaya in Japan. Mentaiko Grill Cuttlefish($45) has a special tender texture, topped with savory Mentaiko maximized its complexity.
Grilled Beef Tongue($40) used only fresh ingredient, its texture is exquisitely smooth.

Grilling food is a compulsory section in Izakaya, 88 insisted to use real charcoal fire to cook, it required to tailor build an electric grill and electric air filter to ensure it is legal and environmental-friendly. The Sake shared the same name as 88, “Hachijyuhachi Gou”( 八十八號)is the all time favorite of owner, a limited brew from high-end brew factory “Kokuryu”, extracted the 35% center of “Yamadanishiki” rice, this sake flaunts a smooth texture and strong flavor of rice make it stands out from other rice sake. Japanese beer is another highlight of alcoholic beverage in Izakaya, the “Ozenoyukidoke”(オゼノユキドケ) has won the Belgium Monte Selection for three years, this light-flavored white beer is available in two flavors, the wheat beer with smoked aroma and the floral beer with a pleasant scent both made a perfect match with Japanese cuisines.
