This was the 3rd time I have tried to eat here. On previous occasions the queue was too long but tonight we went there early, around 5:45pm, and got a seat immediately. We ordered the seafood paella, a potato salad, assorted sushi and crab meat balls,. Seafood paella - the dish arrived on a heater, we were told before hand that it would take 20 minutes to cook. After 20 minutes we added the sauce and gave it a mix. We then realised that there was no seafood. We had waited 20 minutes for a pot of rice. The staff took it away and ordered another one. She explained that there was a mix up and they thought we ordered the eel paella. Maybe that was true but our rice didnt have any eel in it either. The replacement dish was ready after another 20 minutes, but they forgot the sauce, which we had to ask for it. It wasn't particularly tasty. In fact, I couldn't taste any seafood. I could see it and bite it but it was tasteless. Potato salad - this dish was quite good. We shared one but I could probably eat one on my own. This dish arrived shortly after the first seafood paella. Assorted sushi - we ordered the salmon, scallop and prawn assortment. Again, it was OK. We had to ask for this dish. It seems they were waiting for the 2nd seafood paella before serving this dish. Crab meat rolls - these tasted OK but i would like to have had more and/or bigger serving. They were served about 5-10 minutes after we finished the other food. Again, we had to ask for them to be served. Wine - they offer a "buy one get one free" glass of wine for $29. To be honest, the wine was very weak and tasteless. I really don't understand why there are so many people waiting to eat here. The food was average and the service was pretty bad. We were in the restaurant for about an hour and a half, more than an hour of that was spent with no food on the table. This is the last time I'll visit this restaurant. Recommended Dish(es):

I had recently cut out a coupon of Watami from a newspaper, where you get a reduction of $20 after spending over $100. It's been quite a long time since I last dined at a Watami restaurant so this coupon kind of gave me an excuse to go and have a nice meal there. So we came here for lunch as a little celebration for having the exam weeks over. it's only the two of us but we're given a big table which can comfortably fit four people at least. the atmosphere seems nice, everything's just very comfortable. we're given the lunch menu. there're quite a lot of options to choose from. it's pretty hard to make a decision since it seems that many choices were tempting. we've finally made a decision after a while.
both sets were served with a salad, miso soup and a drink. i didn't eat the salad since i am never fond of salads. i think the miso soups' flavor was good, it's not salty, but i was expecting more tofu in it. we both had hot coffees for the drink. i find it funny that they give us a long spoon, those you usually use when drinking from a tall glass, for stirring. it just felt funny. the coffee's merely so so, but i wasn't expecting any good coffees anyway so that's fine. in overall, i enjoyed the meal a lot. it really was a satisfying lunch. i find it interesting that the waiters kneel down to take orders from customers, and that was pretty impressive. i also find an interesting thing on some menus--some menus show the amount of calorie of each dish. now that's really interesting lol i'd love to come again Date of Visit: Jun 21, 2011 Spending per head: Approximately HKD47(Lunch) Other Ratings: Taste 4 | Environment 4 | Service 4 | Hygiene 4 | Value for Money 4

I think both my friend and I would agree that the sushi set was really nice - especially the salmon. The "ice-cream on a rock" (which had ice-cream, kiwi, carmel, chocolate fudge and oreo in it) was quite innovative and all the ingredients actually matched in a surprising way. The other two dishes (octopus pancake + fried rice) was alright, nothing special, but didn't taste bad at all. Overall, the restaurant itself was quite nice - the setting, environment etc. - was calm and well decorated.

The food at Watami is usually Ok, ordered the stir-fried udon, meatballs, hotpot and fatty tuna with spring onion. The udon was just right not too soft or hard, the meatballs had a crispy shell and complemented well with the sauce. As for the hotpot, the tofu was nice and silky, however the soup base became strong in beef taste after the beef had been in there for a while. The fatty tuna was rather fat, and the spring onions coarsely chopped.

elaine (Non-member) | The waiters and waitresses are hopeless. I don't think you can call it service. Not at all. We went there at around 2:30.. For several times we asked to for someone to take our orders, but they either ignored us or rudely replied that they would serve us later. One waiter poured tea into my friend's cup of mango juice, and said he would give her another cup of TEA!!! We said we want our cup of mango juice and they (another waitress came) said they would give us half cup only (the same amount in the cup)... *sigh* totally disappointed, I couldn't even have my dessert there, wanted to leave as soon as possible!!! When my friend pay the bill, she saw the comment sheet under and ask to fill in, the waiter was unwilling to give the comment sheet her (with their so-called service, no wonder!). We asked for a pen and he reluctantly lent us... Unacceptable service !!!!! Spending per head: Approximately HKD100 Other Ratings: Taste 3 | Environment 4 | Service 1 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 3

The Garlic Shrimp Fried Rice is very good! The portion is kinda small. But the garlic is very 香. The 蕃茄豚肉串is very special. The strong taste of the pork and the fresh taste of the tomato is a very good combination. Overall, the food is pretty good and the price is cheap. The only suggestion is to reserve a table one day ahead to avoid the long wait. Went with 4 friend on the 29th May, Sunday, wanted to try some sushi for dinner that day but everywhere was full, so we chose this restaurant. The potion of food was quite small, and the price is a little expensive, so we didn;t dare to order too many. Not too many sushi available so I was a little disappointed, but we sat for a long time and had a long chat. The waiters and waitresses kept refilling our cups with tea, quite good service. The food is ok, not particularly good. Overall, not a place for sushi, but for chat and dishes. Been to this branch for several times; just feel that the service has been deteriorating. I understand that during lunch hour it must be very busy and i can't ask for very good service, but i did remember that time the waitress' attitude wasn't acceptable. It's really a common "phenonmenon" that the waiters & waitresses walk & chat in pairs; are they trained to do so? the environment & the food are quite good & the price is not cheap though. Went there last night at around 9pm. Still saw a long queue...Waited for around 30-45 mins for a table for 5. The food was good & at reasonable price. The drink was around $30 (incl. alcoholics). Mmm i ordered "Berry Berry Grapefruite"; it wasn't that tasty though (it tastes like some cough syrup?!); better avoid "berry" thing next time... My friend's Cookie & Ice-cream looks great. Environment was awesome; i like the entrance very much; Haha but i think me and my friends should have lowered our voice~ Service was excellent; The staff there were funny and the one who arranged extra seats for us was very polite and responsible (a short hair guy wearing glasses w/ transparent frame). Spent around $100 per person. Personally, it's more suitable for a bunch of friends, cos you can try out more dishes. eater (Non-member) | It is always a long queue becoz: 1) people in the restaurant are doing their personal things after meals: reading, talking, sleeping zzzzzz 2) not enough waiters to serve 3) the tables are too small to place all dishes -> have to order a few times 4) table distribution are not flexible...65% are small tables for 2, 25% for medium tables for 3~4, only 10% for large tables for 6. so most ppl spend 1.5hrs for small tables, 2hrs for large tables for queuing.... The decoration of this branch is better than that in TST. The dishes are of quality and the service is very good. It's always a long queue in front of the restaurant after 6:00 p.m. Other Ratings: Taste 4 | Environment 4 | Service 5 | Hygiene 4 | Value for Money 4
