Before watching a drama in the Sheung Wan Civic Centre on Sunday, I planned to visit the Sung Kee Vermicelli and Fish Soup Specialist 生記鮮魚湯米線 for late lunch. Not until I arrived I found the shop was closed on Sundays. I then fallback to this Yue Mic Ka which also titled as the “king” of fish soup vermicelli. They offered afternoon tea set daily with lot of choices, not limited to the soup base pasta.

    a) Tea Set – Rice Noodle with Fish Spring Roll ($32) – 6.5/10

I originally would like to try the tomato soup based rice vermicelli but was scared by the bloody red soup in the photo on the menu. So I finally played safe and ordered this rice vermicelli with deep fried spring roll. Likely MSG was added in the soup but still acceptable with a mild taste of white pepper. I like the rice vermicielli they used which was like those Hsin Chu rice vermicielli 新竹米粉 with toughness and woundn’t get softened easily. The fish spring roll was a bit over fried.

    b) Tea Set - Deep Fried Fish Fillets, Bacon Udon, Corn and Mini Toast ($33) – 8/10

The tea set was served with a tray with 4 partitions. Surprisingly many of the items were freshly made. The tomato sauce used for the udon was rich and the fried bacon was delectable too. The fish fillets were freshly fried too.

    c) Poached Vegetables ($7) – 6/10
Chinese lettuce was used. Not very clean though.
