On my last visit I had the famous noodles mixed with soy sauce and the fried cuttlefish balls with seaweed, this time ordered the beef tendons in five spice powder with rice and the fried cuttlefish and seaweed balls again.

Beef tendons in five spice powder

Chose this because I did not want to eat beef and this dish was just pure tendons.
The portion looked quite small when it arrived but since it tasted nice I would prefer quality than quantity, although you have to becareful with the tendons as they have occaisional pieces of animal hair.
The tendons were so soft and gelatinous.
I was expecting thick sauce, but the sauce they used was the marinade sauce commonly found in Chaozhao lo shui dishes.
It tastes a bit like soy sauce with aniseed.

    Fried cuttlefish and seaweed balls

The snacks reminded me of the meal I had at Sun Choo Koon in Tai Kok Tsui because of the cuttlefish and seaweed.
It was just like that cuttlefish patty with seaweed on top and the strong fish and seaweed soup they had.
The cuttlefish balls were really nice because the frying oil was clean, I loved the crispy coating.

    To try next time:
    Curry wontons.
I wonder if they fried wonton with curry sauce or wontons with curried fillings.

When I came here I didn't know they were famous for their dark soy sauce mixed noodles. So I ordered the usual - fish balls noodles with a side dish of veg. The fish balls are quite airy and bouncy and well seasoned. The veg are "normal"

I will definitely try their dark soy sauced mixed thick noodle next time. Hear some good reviews!

wheres da chicken Just OK Jul 29, 2010

The shop is called chicken something, so I thought it was a chicken specialist or something related to chicken.
It turns out to be chiu chow cuisine.

Ordered noodles with fried cuttlefish balls with seaweed, and fried olive and meat roll.

All the food was good, but not memorable.
I felt that it was slightly overpriced because the food was just noodles, fish balls which is inexpensive.

Anyway the fried meat roll with olive was nice, although the olive wasnt strong, on the outside it was wrapped in beancurd skin.
The sauce that went with it, was garlic vinegar, I would have preferred chili sauce , ketchup or sweet and sour sauce.

The cuttlefish balls were good too, especially it differentiates it from other restaurants with seaweed init.
The broth version of cuttlefish balls would have been nice too, much softer.
